I don't see how. Christie isn't challenging the constitutionality of the hate speech laws themselves; he's just quibbling over their interpretation in this particular case.

If he gets Ahenakew off the hook in the new trial, it's not going to be any kind of a major victory for free speech in Canada.

The hate laws and their derivatives need to be wiped off the books. That's the only thing that will restore free speech to Canada.

That's funny. I thought David Ahenakew was a member of a "targeted and vulnerable" minority. I guess some minorities are more equal than others.
