View Full Version : Kalashnikov regrets inventing the AK-47 (Meant to kill Germans Only)

I am watching the history of the AK-47 on the history channel and Kalashnikov lives in a small apartment and wears cheap clothing. Kalashnikov is in his 80’s and still works. I would say if he lived in a capitalist nation where he would have gotten a cut of the millions of AK’s produced he wouldn’t be regretting it. However thanks to communism his invention has made billions for others and he probably hasn’t seen the money that one shipment of 200,000 was worth in the last 60 years.
Kalashnikov Inventor Laments Proliferation
MOSCOW — Mikhail Kalashnikov says he designed the assault rifle that bears his name to fend off the German invasion of the Soviet Union.
But six decades later, he laments its transformation into the worldwide weapon of choice for terrorists and gangsters.
Does anyone else see an AK in that picture? Also notice they are Negroes.

"Whenever I look at TV and I see the weapon I invented to defend my motherland in the hands of these bin Ladens I ask myself the same question: How did it get into their hands?" the 86-year-old Russian gun maker said.
"I didn't put it in the hands of bandits and terrorists and it's not my fault that it has mushroomed uncontrollably across the globe. Can I be blamed that they consider it the most reliable weapon?" he said.
The question is especially acute as an 11-day U.N. conference on curbing the small-arms trade convenes June 26 in New York. Kalashnikov is thinking of sending the delegates a statement.
Sturdy, simple and cheap, firing 600 bullets a minute, the world's estimated 100 million Kalashnikovs account for up to 80 percent of all assault rifles. In Africa's civil conflicts or in violence-ridden Latin American nations, it sells for as little as $15.
Its genesis dates to 1941, when Kalashnikov was in a hospital with severe wounds from a German shell that hit his tank in the battle of Bryansk in western Russia.
Thinking about the Soviet forces' inferiority due to their lack of an automatic weapon, he says he had a brainstorm one night and jotted down a rough design which he worked on for much of the next six months, assisted by Red Army colleagues.
They worked "in a burst of enthusiasm, out of a huge desire to make a contribution to victory over the fascist invaders," recalled Kalashnikov in a postal and e-mail exchange with The Associated Press.
It would become the Kalashnikov, also called the AK-47, for the year the design was completed. Two years later it became standard issue for the Soviet army.
It came too late for service in World War II, but it earned its reputation in the Cold War that followed, exported by the Soviet Union to arm Third World allies and insurgents.
It proved ideal for desert and jungle — easily assembled and able to keep firing in sandy or wet conditions that would jam a U.S.-made M-16.
The Soviet Union is dead, but the Kalashnikov's empire thrives. Updated models — AK-74, AK-101, AK-103 — are manufactured in Russia. The AK-74 is produced by more than a dozen other countries and is used by the armed forces of more than 50 countries as well as militant groups.
It's seen in Osama bin Laden's videotapes and on the flags of Mozambique and the Hezbollah fighters of Lebanon.
"We sold the weapons to some countries for a symbolic price or even for nothing, with the aim of assisting national liberation struggles. Of course, this meant the Kalashnikov became available around the world," the designer said.
Today, it's the first piece of technology many children in conflict zones will encounter. Boy soldiers routinely carry Kalashnikovs.
It has also come back to haunt the modern Russian army. In the war in Chechnya, both sides wield Kalashnikovs.
Viktor Myasnikov, a defense commentator from Russia's Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper, says many imitations are produced in Africa or delivered from former Soviet bloc countries as well as China and Egypt.
At the U.N. conference, human rights groups will push for an international treaty banning the export of small arms and other conventional weapons to countries where they are likely to be used to trample human rights.
Kalashnikov said Amnesty International and Oxfam, the British charity, have asked him to write a statement for their campaign against small-arms proliferation, and he is also thinking of sending a separate statement addressed to the U.N. conference.
Izhmash, the company in the central Russian city of Izhevsk that manufactures Russia's updated Kalashnikovs, refuses to give production numbers or name customers, but Myasnikov, the military expert, says that it has been only in the thousands each year, exported to Latin American and Middle East police forces. But a Venezuelan order for 100,000 Kalashnikovs has hugely boosted production this year.
Kalashnikov, despite his advanced age, is still chief designer of the state-controlled company.
He says he never made a kopeck in royalties because his invention was never patented.
"At that time, patenting inventions wasn't an issue in our country. We worked for socialist society, for the good of the people, which I never regret," he said.
He's also proud that last year, the Kremlin Armory added a collection of Kalashnikovs to its permanent exhibit of Russian weaponry, and that U.S. soldiers who fought in Vietnam and in Iraq have compared the rugged Kalashnikov favorably with the M-16.

Kalashnikov has done a great job.
Think how many more muds would be around, if it were not for Russia's most famous export to Asia and Africa?.

Being an inventor in a socialist state doesn't pay. On the other hand, failing with an experiment might get you arrested and killed. And since no department had any competition, so their failure to advance wouldn't get noticed, it was best not to bother. No wonder they never invented much.
Better to have several companies competing, their survival depending on coming up with new and better ways of doing things. The best inventions survive, while the failing companies do something else or close shop. That way money, labor and resources can shift from the failing firms to the ones with the right recipe. And so technology and science keep advancing toward the stars.
It's called a market economy. Combined with White intelligence it made the West rich. Our economic lesson for today.

. No wonder they never invented much.
.
One of their little known successes is that the Russkies invented Lithium based tertiary Aluminum alloys - that made their fighter aircraft lighter, stronger and less fuel intensive than the 'West's ' fighters that contained traditional Aluminum alloy construction.
In so doing they helped create several hundred jobs at Kitts Green In Birmingham UK (when Alcan did some reverse engineering on the metallurgy) and set up its own "LitAl" light aluminum plant.

Yes, Green Man, they never invented much. For example, they bought real medicine from France, which was exclusively for the top brass in the communist party, while the rest could die for all they cared - communists couldn't invent medicine. Their dentistry was a joke, stuck in the fourties. Their cars were ridiculous. Their pollution was enormous. Their agricultural methods were ancient and ineffective. Only kidnapped German scientists working as slaves could give them a space program. And we all know they stole nuclear secrets from the West - their scientists read heaps of science magazines from the United States every month, since that was the only way for them to keep up with what was going on in real science.
I notice you avoid arguing against my description of how it works in the post above, and instead pick out one little example of something communists have invented, much like a nigger apologist would mention the mulatto who invented peanut butter.

For this man's part in jeopardizing the white race by protecting the bolshevik revolution and clinging to Marxist values, he can now be happy that his utopian-minded designs are causing widespread death in non-white nations he stupidly thought he was helping "liberate." Seems to be this is the least he can do to repay his debt for his part in aiding the near-destruction of Aryanfolk. His invention may be the best thing outside AIDS for 3rd world population control. Keep churning out those AKs, Comrade!

One of the finest examples of success is the Sturmgewehr 44 - StG44 assault rifle. After the war the StG44 served as the model and inspiration for all assault gun designs including the Russian Kalashnikov AK-47. Dirty commie ripped off da boyz from the Reich.

They are running a special on the history channel right now where Kalashnikov blew up on the reporter when it was pointed out that his gun was similar to the German gun. He said they only have a similar look but the internal workings are entirely different and his gun is superior. He also bragged about how the AK is overall superior to every high cap gun on the market.
All the while he said this from a 300 square foot apartment. His reward for making the most popular gun on the planet.

.
I am not sure how many Scientific journals you subscribe to, but I would hazard a guess that it would be close to zero, right?. If you ever visit a library, and take any reputable scientific journal you will be unable to fail to notice the number of Russian scientific contributions.
Whether it is classical work that has entered everyday schooling (Mendeleev's periodic table of the elements), or today at the contempoary forefront of science.
Russians are white people even if they do not fit in with your small-minded parochial 'village boundary' criteria for what is 'white' that I suspect, stops at Germany's eastern border .
http://www.ras.ru/
I suspect that you will not have heard of Dmitri Mendeleev or of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky?.
I only mention Tsiolkovsky because you mention 'space program' (sic).
"Tsiolkovsky is considered the father of human space flight and the first man to conceive the space elevator, after visiting Paris in 1895 and becoming inspired by the newly-constructed Eiffel Tower. His most famous work was Исследование мировых пространств реактивными приборами (The Exploration of Cosmic Space by Means of Reaction Devices), published in 1903, which was arguably the first academic treatise on rocketry. Tsiolkovsky calculated the escape velocity from the Earth into orbit was 8 km/second and that to achieve this, a multi-stage rocket fueled by liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen was required. His work influenced later rocketeers throughout Europe, and was also studied by the Americans in the 1950s and 1960s as they sought to understand the Soviet Union's early successes in space flight.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Russian_scientists
He published over 500 works on space travel and related subjects, including science fiction novels. Among his works are designs for rockets with steering thrusters, multi-stage boosters, space stations, airlocks for exiting a spaceship into the vacuum of space, and closed cycle biological systems to provide food and oxygen for space colonies. Unfortunately his ideas never made it out of Russia due to the dead hand of Communism, and the field lagged until other scientists independently made the same calculations decades later."

That isnt surprising. It seems a drawback of Communist regimes that they are largely reliant on lifting other people's technologies. China steals stuff from us all the time. I don't know of anything original coming out of that country. They either steal it directly or buy it from Israel and reverse-engineer it.

Stop the Russian bashing guys.It does not correspond to reality, only to low grade '80s American propaganda, and it just makes you look scared. Using the search function one can find some good stuff on this subject by Dr. Israel B. Weinberg, whom I believe to be a Ukranian Jew. He was ridiculed for stating facts, let me repeat and state some facts:
America is a disgusting, corrupted piece of filth that I am ashamed to be associated with.
Russia is the best country at the moment, I don't need to break it down into a lot of details.
Russia destroyed the Third Reich.
Russians had the first satellite,
the first living creature in space,
the first living creature to return safely,
the first man in space,
the first space station (America has not built a space station, the other one is an international collaboration based on Russian design),
Russia has 16,000 nuclear warheads to America's 10,000
Russia has the world's biggest and best submarines, the Typhoon class, which have swimming pools on board.
Not only does Russia have the Sunburn missile, which is still invincible to American technology, and America is desperately trying to get its hands on one to figure out howto counter and copy it, it also has the Onyx missile, which is even better and capable of sinking a Nimitz class nuclear powered super carrier with a conventional warhead.
Russia has better small arms.
Russia had the best tank of W.W.2
Russia forced America to withdraw its missiles from Turkey. Yeah that's 'the Cuban Missile crisis', you thought America won that? Wrong.
Russia has at least 10x more great authors, poets and classical musicians than U.S.A. and creates original work.
etc. etc. etc.
My point is, shut up saying that Russia is bad. It is not true, Russia is good. America used to be a good country, but now it sucks. You are lying to defend your emotional investment in an egoistic fantasy, i.e. American superioty. Just deal with the facts, thank you
Your political lesson of the day.
P.S. Capitalism sucks too, and it causes more pollution and exploitation than Communism in practice, which is not the same as Communism in theory. I believe the Third Reich economy to have been the best practised large scale.

Boy, where to begin with Green Man's post.
I am not sure how many Scientific journals you subscribe to, but I would hazard a guess that it would be close to zero, right?.
Oh yeah, and you're a scientist I'm sure. :D
If you ever visit a library, and take any reputable scientific journal you will be unable to fail to notice the number of Russian scientific contributions.
Whether it is classical work that has entered everyday schooling (Mendeleev's periodic table of the elements), or today at the contempoary forefront of science.
So you mention the time periods
-before communism, and
-after communism
I rest my case.
Russians are white people even if they do not fit in with your small-minded parochial 'village boundary' criteria for what is 'white' that I suspect, stops at Germany's eastern border .
How about you go read my post again: did I say Russians are not White? No. What did I say? Communism is a shitty thing that destroys innovation. That was my point.
I don't know how I could have said that any clearer. But since you were expecting any criticism of Russia to be based on the assumption they wouldn't be White, you didn't bother reading carefully.
And again with the few exceptions. Boy, a Russian scientist! Well, that must mean communism is great after all!
Again, Green Man, and read it this time, I'll make my point perfectly clear: I did not say Russians are inferior, if that's what you think I said. I say, communism destroys innovation. Okay? That doesn't mean no inventions can be made in a communist county. It means however that they will be few.
The communist space program sucked up so much of the country's resources it's ridiculous. And the space program is all you can bring up, because there's little else. Do you realize it was their showcase, when the rest of the country was rottening? And you are happy to bring forth the showcase. Just like poster Charles here. Notice all he can mention is the Soviet military and the Soviet space program - because they ate up about 60 percent of the Soviet GDP.
Finally, Green Man, the examples I mention that you avoid:
The Soviet Union bought real medicine from France, which was exclusively for the top brass in the communist party, while the rest could die for all they cared - communists couldn't invent medicine. Their dentistry was a joke, stuck in the fourties. Their cars were ridiculous. Their pollution was enormous. Their agricultural methods were ancient and ineffective. Only kidnapped German scientists working as slaves could give them a space program (yes, there were Russian scientists too. No, they did not start it, the Germans did). And we all know they stole nuclear secrets from the West - their scientists read heaps of science magazines from the United States every month, since that was the only way for them to keep up with what was going on in real science.
But hey - civilian society is not as cool as the military and space programs, right?
Ever seen pictures of ordinary Russians standing in long lines in front of food stores? While the military and party members could go to special stores, always full of food, and goods imported from the West?

Say what? My grandfather was in WWII and he said Germany had Russia completely whipped before the USA stepped in. Russia couldn’t even win a war in Afghanistan.
Russia destroyed the Third Reich.
Thanks to German scientists, if they did all those things first. Got to admit my space history is a bit fuzzy.
Russians had the first satellite,
the first living creature in space,
the first living creature to return safely,
the first man in space,
Under communist rule.
the first space station (America has not built a space station, the other one is an international collaboration based on Russian design),
Russia has 16,000 nuclear warheads to America's 10,000
Not sure about that.
Russia has the world's biggest and best submarines, the Typhoon class, which have swimming pools on board.
Not the best in the world. They are good but not the best.
Russia has better small arms.
I don’t believe that.
Russia had the best tank of W.W.2
It has existed longer so it should.
Russia has at least 10x more great authors, poets and classical musicians than U.S.A. and creates original work.
No one is saying Russia is bad. We are saying it hasn’t lived up to its potential.
My point is, shut up saying that Russia is bad. It is not true, Russia is good. America used to be a good country, but now it sucks.
You are not a communist are you?
If Russia had been capitalist instead of Communist Kalashnikov wouldn’t be complaining about his invention. He would be a multi millionaire instead of having the world’s most famous weapon taken from him and sold to China for millions. Now he lives in a dreary apartment just a bit larger than my living room.
If I was Kalashnikov I would curse the very ground Russia sits on.
P.S. Capitalism sucks too, and it causes more pollution and exploitation than Communism in practice, which is not the same as Communism in theory. I believe the Third Reich economy to have been the best practised large scale.
For the amount of time Russia has existed along with the white manpower at their disposal they should have accomplished 100 times as much as they have. Instead they allowed the Jews to come in and force Communism on them for the greatest inventive century in history.

I don't post a lot of VNNF but this discussion has my interest.
First, Russia bashing and commie bashing are not the same thing. It's hard to dissociate Russia from Communism for the average person since Russia was the champion of Communism for most of the 20th century. Most of us were probably alive during the Cold War.
Just finished reading a book about the cold war, called appropriately, A Brief History of the Cold War, written by an ex British Intelligence officer.
Thanks to German scientists, if they did all those things first. Got to admit my space history is a bit fuzzy.
Until Apollo, the Soviets were ahead in the space race. The moon landing changed that.
With regards to Nuclear Weapons, the Soviets also had more warheads, almost a 1 for 1 match for all Nato Countries combined.
However, that's not the end of the story. Soviet guidance technology was lacking, and instead the Russians focused on large bombs, as opposed to accurate bombs. It's a moot point since both Superpowers could destroy each other multiple times over regardless of delivery.
Also, the Soviets focused on more missiles, whereas the Nato allies preferred subs and bombers. The logic being that subs and bombers could be called back at the last minute.
And yes, military spending chewed up such a significant chunk of Soviet finances that a connection to its economic collapse could realistically be drawn.
Instead they allowed the Jews to come in and force Communism on them for the greatest inventive century in history.
Jews had been there for a long time, and it's not as though life was terribly pleasant in Russia prior to Communism. The re-distribution of wealth is always appealing to the poor, and at that time, there was no shortage of poor peasants for Communism to appeal to.

He said they only have a similar look but the internal workings are entirely different and his gun is superior. Of course "they look similar", since Kalishnikov copied the German design. If he made improvements on the original German design, well and good. But then, automobile manufacturers have since made improvements on the automobile invented by Karl Benz, but that doesn't mean they came up with the original idea to begin with. In short, Kalishnikov ripped off the original German creation, made some improvements on it, and because the Nazis were so hated anyway after the war, nobody from the USA to the USSR were about to give credit to the Nazi weapons designers, credit that actually belonged to them - not Kalishnikov.
BTW, remember the recent story in the news where they "erased" that former German rocket scientist from the Space History Hall of Fame, because he had been a "Nazi"? Same principle at work here. Anyway, like the Russians ripped off Nazi rocket technology, they also ripped off German weapons technology, including the Sturmgewehr 44.

While the concept of the intermediate-caliber, lightweight automatic rifle was invented by the Germans, the actual AK design is totally different.
The true descendant of the Stg43/44 is the Heckler and Koch G3/33/MP5 in 7.62x51/5.56/9mm, respectively.

Isn't it wonderful that Venezuela recently ordered and took delivery of several thousand Russian-made AK's? Do you think that was a good choice, considering all the firearms technology that's out there?
Obviously, for tack-driving sniper work, another type of rifle must be included in their inventory. But for the average infantryman -is the AK the best overall choice, especially factoring in the cost, ease of maintenace, reliability? Anyone?

Many an American inventor has been ripped off and ended up with nothing for his bright ideas. And I read that the great age of American invention came to an end when corporations took over the inventing process and made it impossible for the actual inventor to get the profit out of his own invention.
But I would think a lot of inventor types would be happy to work night and day on a pet project, even working for peanuts. Creative people are like that. Some get mad when they get ripped off, and some don't really care about the money. This guy would obviously be complaining about the blood money, if he had gotten royalties.

Yes , I see now, it was a little ambiguous when I gave it a quick read .
The war , WWI , was what ruined Russia . Most trains were commandeered to supply the front with Germany. As a consequence , not enough trains were available to supply the cities with food from the south and east, namely Moscow and St. Pete . The food shortages provoked the revolution , as Rasputin said they would .

The assassination was approved by the three-man Lehi 'center': Yitzhak Shamir (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yitzhak_Shamir), Natan Yellin-Mor (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Natan_Yellin-Mor&action=edit) and Yisrael Eldad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yisrael_Eldad), and planned by the Lehi operations chief in Jerusalem, Yehoshua Zetler (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yehoshua_Zetler&action=edit). A four-man team lead by Meshulam Markover ambushed Bernadotte's motorcade in downtown Jerusalem and team member Yehoshua Cohen fired into Bernadotte's car. Bernadotte and his aide, UN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations) observer Colonel André Serot (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Andr%C3%A9_Serot&action=edit) were killed. The following day the United Nations Security Council (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council) condemned the killing of Bernadotte as "a cowardly act which appears to have been committed by a criminal group of terrorists in Jerusalem while the United Nations representative was fulfilling his peace-seeking mission in the Holy Land".[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folke_Bernadotte#_note-0)
Lehi took public credit for the murders in the name of a previously unknown group, but Lehi's role was never in doubt. Lehi was forcibly disarmed and many members were arrested, but nobody was ever charged with the murders. Yellin-Mor and another Lehi member Schmuelevich were charged with belonging to a terrorist organization. They were found guilty but immediately released and pardoned (Yellin-Mor had meanwhile been elected to the first Knesset (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knesset)). Years later, Cohen's role was uncovered by David Ben-Gurion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ben-Gurion)'s biographer Michael Bar Zohar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Bar_Zohar) while Cohen was working for Ben-Gurion as a security guard. The first public admission of Lehi's role in the murder was made in 1977 (Yediot Aharonot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yediot_Aharonot), Feb 28).

The list of Jewish assassins goes on and on.
A jew murdered the populist Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long.
Yes, and if the good Doctor hadn't killed Long , he would have been president and FDR would have been out the door . Did you know that Social Security and anti-poverty stipends were the idea of Long and not of FDR ? FDR , in his typical jewish style, took the ideas of others and claimed them for his own .
They seem to have a natural blood lust .
