Judge overruled on multi-cult grounds

District Court Judge Thomas Fitzpatrick - whose previous work (http://theirishbulletin.blogspot.com/2006/06/district-court-judge-tells-it-like-it.html) we commented on in the past - once again pointed out his concerns about the overwhelming number of non nationals appearing before him in courts across the country.
This time, it was the turn of three Nigerian shoplifters to feel Judge Fitzpatrick's wrath, as he sentenced them to four months in prison on shoplifting charges.
Judge Fitzpatrick once again said that an exorbitantly high proportion of criminals appearing before him were foreigners, and that sentences imposed on the three Nigerians would stand as a message to those non-nationals who think that they're above the law.
But a subsequent ruling by the High Court judge, Mr Justice Michael Peart (pictured; a very Irish name if ever I heard one), demonstrated the awful truth facing the Irish people: that as long as the current system exists - that is, one in which Ireland is no longer in control of its destiny - foreigners will always be above the law.
On hearing Judge Fitzpatrick's comments, the three Nigerian criminals set their legal attack dogs on the Irish State, and won clemency by impaling the State on its own politically-correct interpretations of the law.
And such is the innate stupidity of Western legal systems - that the interpretation of the law ultimately holds more clout than the spirit of the law, and that politically-appointed judges can override the decisions of career judges. All criminals are still criminals, but this case prompts us to ask the question - would an Irishman sentenced before the court receive such clemency from men in high places?
Evidently, there's not a snowball's chance in Hell. We may then arrive at the conclusion that a situation is developing where Irish law has been subverted in the interests of "safeguarding" minority rights.
Under this scenario, Irish law stops being Irish. But this doom-laden assertion aside, there's one interesting conclusion we can draw from this sorry affair: the fact that discontent is rife even among influential sections of the Irish judiciary.
