The suspect was arrested Thursday near Bowmanville, Ont. and appeared in court Friday for an extradition hearing. Australian authorities already have another Canadian, two men from China and Pakistan and two Australians in custody.
According to the report, some 1.2 million ecstasy tablets weighing more than 350 kilograms arrived in Australia on June 4. This was Australia's largest ecstasy seizure.
The suspects in custody have reportedly been charged with helping to smuggle the pills from Vancouver to Melbourne via Hong Kong. Australian authorities have reason to believe the drugs were made in Canada.
