As you know ,or not know, there were two regional elections in Germany on the 17. of September. One in the state of Berlin and one in the state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern. In Berlin at the same time elections for various city councils took place. For the state elections a party needs 5% of the votes to enter a regional parliament, while for seats in the city councils a 3% mark has to be reached.

A small help with the party names:

SPD = Social Democrats (center-left)
CDU = Christian Democrats (conservatives, center-right)
Die Linke / PDS = The Left Party (reformed communists)
Grüne = The Green Party (green issues as well as major pro-immigrant and multi-culti party)
FDP = Free Democrats (liberals / libertarians)
Andere = Other smaller parties
Nichtwähler = the non-voters of the last election
Graue = The grey Party (protest party for pensioner's rights)
WASG = Alternative for Social Justice (stands left to the PDS and forms together with the PDS the Left Party nationwide)
REP = The Republican Party (paleo-conservatives)

Berlin

The NPD in Berlin managed to take more than 2% of the votes. Which of course was not enough to enter the Berlin state parliament. Fortunately though the NPD scored more than 3% in four Berlin districts and will have seats in the local city councils.

Two more things are interesting about the Berlin election:

1. In former communist east Berlin the NPD managed to get about 4% of the votes. The resulting 2% for all of Berlin is to be attributed to the poor results in west Berlin.

2. How did the parties score in regions with high and in regions with low foreigner numbers:

The communists and the NPD scored fairly well in the homogeneous parts of Berlin while the Greens and conservatives scored better in the diversified parts of Berlin.

Mecklenburg Vorpommern

The NPD in the state elections of MV managed to get about 7.3% of the votes and will have 6 seats in the state parliament.

Which ages voted for the NPD?

As the graphic shows very clearly, the younger a voter is the more receptive he is to the message of the NPD.

What did women and what did men vote for?

http://www.onlinepictures.de/2/uploads/mv2006geschlechtjpg1e0ef557JPG.jpg

While 10% of the men voted for the NPD, only 4% of the women made their cross at the party.

What did young men aged 18-24 vote for?

As the graphic clearly shows the NPD scored second with 22% behind SPD 23% as the favoured party for young Geman males.

What were the important issues for NPD voters?

http://www.onlinepictures.de/2/uploads/mv2006themen8d4270f1JPG.jpg

For 39% the foreigner issue was most important
Another 39% stated the unemployment rate as their main motivation for voting the NPD
34% because of the poor social justice in Meckelnburg
And another 22% because of the overall economy in the state.

And since the NPD got so many votes it would be intereting to see from which party did those voters come from?

And finaly which social groups voted for the NPD?

11% of the blue-collar workers
4% of the white-collar workers
9% of the self-employed
3% of the pensioners
8% of the trainees
17% of the unemployed

Hello White Dragon,

yes indeed its good news although i'm always skeptical about the NPD. For the more radical forces outside its important that the NPD does never water down their message and transform into a "moderate nationalist" party.

Anyway, hopefully the funds they will now get will be used to strengthen the infrastructure of the party in Mecklenburg so to increase the numbers of "ideological" voters since these "protest" voters are not a basis to depend on.

With sober optimism,
Alex

Nothing looks better than a German woman who is national and racial aware!

Well Seaforth you should know that Germans work efficiently, organized and thoroughly ;-) Just kidding.

ksgberlin,

you are absolutely correct. Consequently as we become more mainstream more women will join us politically.

Anyway wanted to post three youtube videos about the official interviews the media gave to the successful party candidates and especially NPD party candidate Udo Pastörs ;-)
