I got a job through Voc Rehab of North Carolina. It was with a non profit company that offered respite and life skills training to families with developmentally disabled adults and children. The first boss I had was a dream. They were a white female with a degree in special education. She would bend over backwards to help me. I started this job in Jan. 1999. By November of that year is when things turned for the worse. The company split into two divisions and I was given no say as to what boss I wanted to go with. I had to stay in Charlotte and work under a negro male boss. It was my job to make the necessary forms needed by the case workers which i did well here. I had some filing to do and this is where the crux of the problems that lead to my firing began. I was placed in the room with the filing cabinates which caused my co workers to think I was in charge of the files when I wasnt. The one in charge of the files was in the office next to mine along with the race tratior white female office manager. They would spend more time talking about their private lives then working. This pissed me off big time here but I felt like there was nothing I could do about it at all. I would be accused when the filing got backed up. How can you place a document in a file when the file aint there to beging with? I would keep through documentation as to which files were missing and turned them over to my negro boss on a regular basis via email. I would also complain about this to my job coach too. It seemed that nothing was being done about it. Finally in March 2000 I was fired from this job. The day I was told I was fired the boss and the personal manager watched me clear out my desk like I was a common criminal. As for the reason I was terminated we are still not sure about it. When I got home that day mom asked me what I was doing home early for. I replied that I had been fired which shocked her. She had me called my job coach and tell them. You think they would have already known in advanced this was going to happend and they could have warned me about it. Nope they were just as shocked as my mom was about it.

The state would always drop the ball and expect me to drop what I was doing and cover their ass. But I wouldnt. Once my job coach made an appointment to meet me at her office. I was there an hour and she never showed up. They would forget to have me sign some document and expect me to drop what I had planned this particular day which was to do an exhibit for the Carolina Raptor Center which I had signed up for weeks in advance, and come sign this thing. I said no because something inside of me knew that they had done this before and gotten away with it and they werent going to get away with it with me. When I called my state agent word of it got back to the manager of the job coaching agency and the manager chewed me out over it. There was a conference in December of 2000 and that didnt go over to well. Then another in Feb 2001 in which my state agent finally got frustrated with me and said file for ssi. So now I am filing for ssi which is hell. They had a contract with me called an IPE and one of the things on there was to see my j*w social worker. Well I got frustrated with her and stormed out of her office refusing to see her again. Because of that the state closed my case with them. What about my unwritten contract for decent service? I feel like I blew their mind because I can manipulate a computer here and they are used to working with people who have the mental capacity for nothing more than janitor work. Damn I hate being high functioning here with a passion.

I have spoken to this person via Yahoo a few times, she is a very nice person and is very racially aware. She has never said a single word about collecting benefits and living off of the government to me. I see the origin of this thread is quite old and I imagine she has changed her ways as far as that subject goes. I will say that I had no idea of her weight problem, I would recommend that she do something about this while she is still relatively young, as it's very unhealthy.
