Why not give the membership list a cleaning every three months or so. Anyone who hasn't posted in the last 90 days delete his/her account. That'll eliminate the accumulation of numbnuts who sign up to make one or two idiotic comments then disappear forever. That will keep the membership lower, sure, but we're not competing with that other forum for numbers anyway. Half of the people over there never post anything but they're kept on the artificially inflated roster to make the membership look huge. Reregistering only takes two minutes if someone is deleted then they want to come back.

As a mod I cant delete accounts as far as I'm aware. I think only admins can do that.

You can add my vote to that suggestion. Or put 'em in categories such as "Winners & Losers" :p

Not true, it will just say "guest" where their username was and if they havent posted in 90+ days I dont think that anyone would notice the "guest" instead of the username on a post becuase their replys to anything or threads they have started would have allready sunk (Unless its a big ass thread that gets a shitload of trafic each day) Either way no posts will be deleted just their names on the memberlist and a guest where the username once was :)

It's a good idea. If someone gets deleted but comes back and wants to post after 90 days, all they have to do is re-register.

The mods can compose a list of inactive users, and forward it to the admin.

If you don't want to delete the accounts they can be moved into a file called "Winners & Losers" or "Sleeping" or something. Ninety days was just an arbitrary time period I chose, you could use any criterium you prefer, 180 days or a year or whatever.

Pls. keep it that way. I travel a bit and see no great benefit to the board if I am forced to reregister. This strikes me as a solution in search of a problem.

Hanx Nick. I lost track of Mr. Lowe around 1982. Good to see he's still w/ us and doing what he loves.

Usernames not active for two years should be automatically deleted. Three months is too short.
