Police Believe One Man Responsible For String Of Sex Attacks Near York University

Police believe the same man may be responsible for two sex assaults in less than a week in the York University area.

Caitlin Murphy, a 21-year-old student at the university was walking home when she was attacked.

"He was standing behind the tree and I didn't see him because it was pretty dark and he just stepped out from behind the tree and he said don't scream, and he pushed me to the ground," she recalls.

"I grabbed his pinky finger and I twisted it back and he pulled away from me because I hurt him and I ran to my house."

The most recent incident happened at about 9:00pm on Monday when a 19-year-old girl was walking home between Sentinel and Murray Ross Pkwy. A man grabbed her from behind, dragged her between two houses and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is being described as a black man, 25 to 30 years old with a muscular build and short hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and tight blue jean.

"We are looking into the possibility that it is the same person," admits P.C. Kristine Bacharach.
