A recent post I made I wanted to edit, but I noticed that the 'Edit' option that used to appear at the bottom right of my posts next to the 'Quote' option is no longer there.

Can we no longer edit our own posts?

EDIT: Well, now I am able to edit this post, but other posts of mine that I examine have no 'Edit' option. :confused:

Anyone have this problem, at least occasionally?

It happened to me today, as well as suddenly having to 'click the quick reply link to post'. I just chalk it up to the joy of internet messaging.

It's a security issue, although if it's possible I would remove this restriction from posters with over a certain amount of posts.

As for the quick reply click, I am guessing it was activated so one could use the options box to quote the message in the reply.

Well, it turns out that there is a 28 minute limit on the editing of posts. I.e., you have 28 minutes during which you can edit a recent post, and after 28 minutes have passed since you first clicked on 'Submit Post,' you can no longer edit that post. And of course all other posts older than 28 minutes cannot be edited in any way, either.

Might it be possible to institute some query when logging in to greatly reduce the success of hacks into VNNF? Something like the math quiz on the VNN home page, or maybe a partially obscured series of letters and numbers that have to be identified when you login to eliminate the use by hackers of automated password cracking?

To run through this again. After the move to the new server many of the default values reset themselves and/or might have been changed either my hand or Stan's as a result of the chan's threat to enter old posts and insert porn. The value was recently increased, a value which we thought was greater than 28 minutes. But Stan reset the value after I reset it, so its hard to tell what happened.
