This Kuwaiti singer Shams (http://aycu12.webshots.com/image/11331/2000217675877902164_rs.jpg) [شمس] was given a music contract in the USA while she was booted from Rotānā [روتانا] - her former Saudi-owned Kuwait-based record label - for being too ‘anti-American.’

Rotānā is a really big Arab equalivent of MTV, they're soon also going to offer in the Netherlands on cable.

Shams signs $2M American contract
December 12, 2006

Kuwaiti singer Shams has gone the distance and signed up with American distributor “Surprise” in a very surprise move by the Khaliji singer. It's the first time any Gulf or Arabic singer, male or female has ever done so!
Nobody yet knows why she left Rotana. Apparently, the company's head sent a letter to Shams informing her of the termination of her contract without giving any details, a move that Shams wouldn't comment on either.

Now, she's hooked up with the new company and a $2 million contract which will probably mean a whole new change in style and performance. She is now considered as a pioneer with this move and could pave the way for others to follow in her footsteps. This might be just what the doctor ordered for Arabic art. Most songs now sound the same and with the regular tunes and words. “Your eyes, your hair, you face” come on guys, try something new like Shams![source: WALEG (http://www.waleg.com/archives/006132.html)]

Kind of funny, the relations between the Bush and al-Saoud dynasties... especially in relation to topics like "Homeland Security," "islamofascism" and so on.

Time after time, it becomes evident who the real ‘terrorists’ are in our regimes' eyes...

Another interesting detail is the cartoon character in the end, which is Handala (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handala); the creation of Naji al-`Ali, a Palestinian anti-Zionist - who was forced from his land in the 1940s - that was executed in the 1980s by the Mossad.

That was sort of entertaining, perhaps a bit too light considering all the carnage. I would have liked it more if she had gone a bit further with a hint of jews.
