Wasted Years

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas
I'm travellin' on, far and wide
But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself
And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but
someone else

I close my eyes, and think of home
Another city goes by in the night
Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it 'til it's
gone away
And my heart is lying there and will be 'til my
dying day

So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for
those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realise you're living in the golden years

Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind
Can't ease this pain, so easily
When you can't find the words to say it's hard to
make it through another day
And it makes me wanna cry and throw my
hands up to the sky

So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for
those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realise you're living in the golden years

So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for
those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realise you're living in the golden years

Iron Maiden.

I liked this song quite a bit when it came out. I can't relate to the message any longer though. Doesn't appear to be the golden years to me and the future looks even more bleak.
While on the topic of music, why does everyone have this obsession to listen to music 24/7 ?

It seems like society has sleeped walked into 24/7 everything!

Its a shame!

The strange thing to me is that bands have become religions for a lot of people.

I'm into high-end audio, and listen to music occasionally. In the car I primarily listen to talk radio.

In what way ?

I think he means that people view them almost like a messiah and suck up every last little detail of their lives. If that is what he means, I agree, that is common.

As I cut out the TV as a main source of entertainment I weaned off the radio as well and in the end was only listening to talk radio like yourself. I finally turned it off in favor of silence. The views espoused on the radio are no different than the TV and I finally tired of them both.

The worshipping of some group of punk 20 somethings who are just looking for some horny groupies, turn into idols by their fanbase.

Pathetic.

Yes, that's what I meant, thanks.
