I keep getting logged out everytime I try to post and I am required to login again even though I enable the remember me function. This has been happening for a long time and causes me to post here less often than I would otherwise. I don't have this problem on other forums and I do have cookies enabled. What is to be done?

Does same thing to me... not on other forums, just here. I will send pm to Alex, ask him to get someone to look into it.. you should pm him also, at least then he will know more than one person is having trouble. Maybe they will get it patched up, it's very aggervating I know.

Are you ticking the box when you log in that say's "Remember me"?
If you dont it wont set an unexpireable cookie.

I use internet explorer and don't have a problem.

It happens to me, but only on posts that take quite a while to compose. On short posts, it never happens.
The solution: Compose long posts in a word processor and just paste them into the Message box.

Make sure you have the box "remember me" checked when you login. If you don't have cookies enabled or you are behind a proxy, this will happen.

Or just copy it to your clipboard before posting. That's another reason to get FF, it saves what you were writing.

Alright, goddammit. Every time I even switch pages I fucken get logged off...EVERY TIME.
This makes browsing a bit tough. LOL
I checked everything (that I'm aware of) on my end: disabled firewalls, proxies, etc.
It took SIX attempts just to post this, I would log in and get the "thank you for logging in macmanus" message and by the time the forum appeared I'd be logged out.
What next?

Today, I had this 509 message saying "Bandwidth Exceeded." Very strange. I could not even reach the site for a few hours.

Looks like it was an issue w/ the provider's provider, tradewebhosting.

Something that alters your cookie settings would be the thing to look out for. Third-party firewalls like many of the Symantec products does this.

I noticed that on Monday (Oct. 28) the forums were loading slow; then Wednesday I couldn't got on - I kept getting an error message, though if I hit the "back" button I saw the forum for a split second and if I was fast enough on hitting "stop" I could see the forum, but trying to click on anything got be tossed to the error page. Today (Saturday) was the first time I can access the forum and it is slow changing pages and threads.
I also notice that the threads discussing this problem in the General Discussion and This Just In forums seem to be gone. Someone had suggested switching to firefox, which I may look into; though I thought that the purpose of VNN was to be accessible to the general public. If this problem continues, newcomers using Explorer may be discouraged from participating.

I am getting an odd file prompt as of late whether it be clicking on "New Posts" or any of the options. It does not happen every single time, but every couple of actions.

So far, seems to be working normally. Thanks service administrator. Perhaps it was a result of the server change. If it works normally tomorrow, I'll be happy because it will mean that this was not a fluke.
