View Full Version : So how does someone leave neither a negative nor a postive reputation feedback?

A couple of times I have been left neutral feedback. The image gif for this is at:
http://vnnforum.com/images/reputation/reputation_balance.gif
and is neither green nor red, but is light blue, as can be seen: http://vnnforum.com/images/reputation/reputation_balance.gif
When I go to leave feedback, I get only two choices. The default is:
(*) I approve
( ) I disapprove
which produces the green (postive) reputation gif: http://vnnforum.com/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif
and I can change that default choice to:
( ) I approve
(*) I disapprove
which produces the red (negative) reputation gif: http://vnnforum.com/images/reputation/reputation_neg.gif
but these two choices appear to be mutually exclusive: choosing one disables the other, and I don't see how to "unchoose" them both. So just how is it that others are able to leave me the "balance" gif, which is neither negative nor positive, neither "I approve" nor "I disapprove"?
Anyone?

Because they are in the red and their rep doesn’t count for anything. When I was in the red my rep didn’t count whether I approved or not. If you are in the green it has to be either positive or negative.

Is it not also if they are very new and don't have many posts?

I don't know how it works for sure, but I think the grey dot comes from someone who doesn't have enough posts for their giving rep to count yet. I think on most message boards, your rep given doesn't count until 50 posts.

D,
The neg rep thing has pretty much been neutralized by making the neg points visible to the recipient. Example, I just neg repped "Aryan Lord" because I thought some gay thing he said warranted it. But then he almost immediately did the same back to me. What's the point then? The neg points need to be anonymous, and actually the +reps too. The old way, people could leave their name if they wanted. The result of these changes has been really bad. Now everybody reps everybody all the time and there are almost no neg reps at all.

People need to stand by their rep’s just like they stand by their posts. Yes people like Aryan LD will return a negative rep, but others don’t.
Showing who gives out what makes them more accountable for what they are doing. If a person wants to give out rep then he or she can expect the consequences.

I suppose you can blame me for the rep points being visible to the recipient. Back when it was anonymous I neg repped Billy Bob and signed Dietrich's name to it. Billy Bob went ape shit and ran straight to VNN authorities. Dietrich banned me, after a good chastising, and when Linder got wind of it he also had a few choice words for yours truly.
Sheeit...you'd athought I slapped GLR's mother or something. What I thought was a clever harmless prank turned into a ton of bricks falling on me.:D It was like I had betrayed the cause. I was Count von Stauffenberg, briefcase in hand, strolling into“Wolf’s Lair”. I was Strom to William Pierce....the Joker to Batman....Lex Luthor to Superman. Dare I say it....Elisha to April.:krofl
I loved it!
