To clarify my earlier comments:

I would be completely opposed to editing the CONTENT of any postings (excepting clearly illegal suggestions, of course), but excessive QUANTITY is obvious abuse and everyone would agree that it's reasonable to remove those.

Maybe set an arbitrary limit -- six (6) posts per forum date for example. All postings exceeding the agreed upon number would be deleted along with the entire account and everything that person had posted in the past. That would encourage the more "prolific" contributors to pay close attention to the count. If the "referee" occasionally made a miscount himself (nobody's perfect) and deleted someone's account who hadn't exceeded the agreed upon limit, well, mistakes happen.

If you know what I mean.

Six or eight posts per day is plenty of opportunity to make one's point or points. In the unlikely case that's not enough, he or she could write directly to the ref and get a judgement on a temporary exemption.

Or maybe just keep it an iron clad rule if that's easier all around.

I think all of us just don't like spammers more than anything, and that wave of three or so National Alliance, anti-"sexist VNN" WNists that undoubtedly slithered out from from a WNist chatroom to spam the board in hopes of ruining it, made us overly defensive.

I'm sure on any forum, political or not, that we're a member of, all spammers are hated for what they are; selfish, but we'll adapt. :)

By the way, not to sound like a warrior poet ;) , but VNN Forum is like the inner core of White Nationalism on the Net where all WNists gravitate to. Just look at the number of lurkers (guests) when compared to members. The ratio is always around 2 to 1 more guests than members, which means people are reading, and I'm sure they're mostly White Nationalists from other forums...

Although StormFront is the place where I got my feet wet on-line, back early in '96 when I hooked up my first computer, an antique 1400 baud external modem -- it was the ONLY place for racists to go and interact back then -- I haven't visited StormFront since. From what I gather, "freak show" sums up SF fairly well today, though I'm sure Don Black has gobs of good material available there and I know he has reached literally tens of thousands of people new to our cause since I was there.

Most of the lurkers can also see that these folks are being ranted against as well. In fact, one could come up with a troll list, and paste it as a sticky that anyone can view.

Besides, who cares about lurkers? Why worry about them? If they wanna post, they can post. If not, then not. I think you over estimate the power of a forum.
