Of course TO Bake a Cake or maybe two or three or four or five lol ... sheesh

This is the cake that I baked and designed for my sister's baby shower. I made a simple yellow cake with a simple wedding white frosting.

2inch deep double layer of a 14' and 6' inch pans ....

The icing ...

INGREDIENTS
1 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tspn clear imitation vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 tspn imatation butter flavor
1/2 cup water
8 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

DIRECTIONS
Mix shortening, water, vanilla, almond extract, butter flavor, and half of the powdered sugar with a mixer for 5-10 minutes. (important to mix this long)
Add the rest of the powdered sugar and beat just enough to mix in. Use a spatula to fold in sides and avoid over mixing your icing!

Additional water for desired consistency.

Colored Sky Blue for cake base with wilton's food coloring gel and for the chocolate swirls I blended in left over white icing with unsweetened dutch cocoa :) I have a stand mixer so this is a super easy icing to make and the first mixing parts don't seem so tiresome when you can be getting other things prepared ;)

Beautiful cake SSanguine.

Ability to cook is one of the best features a woman can have, IMHO. And it's definitely missing in most women. I bet not even one percent of women under 40 know how to make good cornbread:

Nicely done and very beautiful. I love cooking and baking, but it is sometimes difficult to find the time to prepare a "creation". You have outdone yourself.

Wow. That's great! I can bake, just don't ask me to decorate  One of my first jobs was makng specialty desserts, but I never had steady enough hands to design like you. Instead I would do the basics, let someone decorate and then I would package. My boss thought some of my designed goods were so bad and unsaleable that he let me take them home and eat them. :D
