Seems like some of the posters on this forum are big on some of the anthropologic terms which I am not. I'm curious how someone knowledgeable would classify pops. I do know he's 100 percent Polish.

100% Polish. He looks just like my wife's father who was also 100% Polish, but he was in the army.

Side question: The wife took a look at the photo and noted the fellow bore a strong resemblance to an uncle of hers although it isn't him. The question is: Poles are Slavs which are usually classified (on the old race-meter) as full nordic or high alpine. Are these terms still in use? Are they useful?

Slavs are originally from the northern part of eastern Europe. We see fair complected Slavs in Bosnia, because of isolation from the surrounding Med races and the invading Asiatics

Fair point KLM but all too often the term 'Slav' is used as a catch-all to include Balts, Wends, Cashubs, Borussi, Prus, Rus, Masurians, Lettlanders, Estonians and other distinct groups of White folk in the Slav heartlands.

I'd say that the figure in the photo is south western 'polak' - from Silesia way.

Estonians are racially and linguistically close to the Finns. I'm not sure how the other 2 Balts relate, but I have a hunch they are Germanic :confused:

Only Germanic ' on paper' as during the period of German occupation 1939 to 1945 for example.

The tribes that make up Baltic people are distinct from the eastern Slavs and the Western Germanic tribes - although with centuries of invasion rape and pillage, and sometimes through peaceful inter-marriage - the lines have become a bit blurred.
