(CNN) -- The Arabic-language television network Al-Jazeera broadcast a videotape Sunday night of a man identified as a South Korean hostage whose captors threatened to behead him unless his government quits the U.S.-led coalition occupying Iraq.

On the videotape the man cried in English, "Please get out of here. I don't want to die. ... Your life is important, but my life is important."

The South Korean Foreign Ministry confirmed that the man shown in the videotape is Kim Sun-il, 33, who works for a trading company. It was not known when or how he was taken hostage.

The Foreign Ministry planned an emergency meeting Monday morning to discuss Seoul's reaction to the development and steps to take toward Kim's release.

An official with the South Korean Embassy in Washington said South Korea has about 600 troops in the country and plans to send another 3,000.

The deployment will make South Korea the third-largest contributor to coalition forces, after the United States and Britain. (Full story)

The video showed Kim seated in front of three men whose faces were covered with scarves.

Two of the men held rifles; the third delivered an ultimatum to South Korea's government.

"We ask the government of South Korea and the people of Korea to pull their forces out of Iraq and not to send additional forces," the man said.

"Otherwise, we will send this hostage's head back to them and, God willing, we will kill more of your troops in Iraq. And you have 24 hours, starting tonight."

In Baghdad, South Korea's ambassador to Iraq said he was aware of the tape and had no comment.

Al-Jazeera's editor in chief, Ahmed al-Sheikh, said the tape was left Sunday at the network's office in Baghdad and that he verified it was authentic before broadcasting segments of it. He did not broadcast the entire tape because some of it was repetitious, he said.
Weekend violence scattered

Seven Iraqi police officers and 10 civilians were wounded in a 45-minute gunbattle that followed a failed attempt to assassinate Iraq's minister of health in western Baghdad, Iraqi Police Col. Azher Kamal said Sunday.

The fight began early Saturday evening when a roadside bomb exploded as a convoy carrying Iraqi Minister of Health Alaa Alwan passed by, Kamal said.

No one was injured in the explosion, but when Iraqi police rushed to the scene near the Alja'afer police station, they were attacked by a group of insurgents with small arms and grenades, Kamal said.

In Tikrit, north of Baghdad, a leading member of the City Council, Izz Aldeen Al-Bayati, was shot to death by insurgents Sunday as he was on his way into town, according to another council member. Al-Bayati's driver and bodyguard were wounded, the council member said.

In an incident Sunday morning in central Baghdad, an Iraqi police officer and four civilians were wounded Sunday morning when a bomb damaged a storefront near Ahrar Bridge, an Iraqi Interior Ministry official said.

In Anbar province, a Marine assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force was killed in action Saturday while conducting security and stability operations, according to a military spokesman.

I think it's more effective than suicide bombers. I wish the Palestinians would start this action on Israelis. We could use more good videos on the net.

Maybe White men would take the hint that's it's A-OK legal to defend your homeland from invaders.

Ok, so far they've gotten a kike and a race traitor. Now they have a South Korean. Good job. Next on the list: nigger, spic, injun, and maybe some really fun sand niggers.

Sorry to burst any bubbles, but beheading people is not a new fad. The French had a pleasant contraption called Le Madam Guillotin which they used to lop off the heads of many thousands of people, nearly all of them their own citizens. Are they also monsters and lunatics for killing their aristocracy during the Reign of Terror or was that past times and they're all nice and civilized now? It really is a very humane way of dealing with invading forces serving the enemy Israel. I don's see what all the hubbub is about. Knife, firing squad, guillotine, gas chamber, lethal injection, man's inhumanity to man, the Muslim psycho and his hatred of the west, etc. Did you know that under Bush's watch, a great many Texans were given the death penalty? They too, like the coalition, are/were criminals.

I think beheading is much more effective than spanking.

I'll be impressed when they start beheading and kidnapping armed soldiers, and not fucking engineers.

Instantanious decapitation by a guillotine is worlds apart from getting your head sawed off with a steak knife while you choke on your own blood.

There's a difference between eutanasia and a very gruesome, agonizing death, and those Arabs know what begets results.

That is the main reason armed soldiers aren't beheaded as Anima wishes, because they might fire at you when you start sawing their head off with your boxcutter (they did last time I tried).

Sandnigs behead each other swiftly, using a sword, for certain crimes (I think murder is punished this way). Adultery, by stoning etc...
Infadels get the dull, rusty box-cutter, which is why I think the next victim is scared to death

Can't argue with results. It gets attention and the Arabs know it. I predict at some point they WILL capture some soldiers and do the same thing.

I doubt it. They're just as scared as those engineers. They know they can get away with killing nerds without getting killed.....so why go for the bull when you have the calf?

Paradoxically, today's Madamme Guillotines aren't French, but castrators just the same

The Spanish Inquisitors and Torquemada knew what begot results too. Systematic decades long torture of jews, heretics, unbelieivers, pagans, you name it. I'd submit that torture is about as old as humanity, and believe me, there many many methods far worse than manual decapitition. It is savage and takes about 10 seconds longer to die than the guillotine, but yes it's savagery has it's effect.

Here's some disturbing images. Be glad we live in more "humane" times with all these cameras to keep us safe from evildoers. Joan of Arc was burned at the stakes as were countless others. That's far worse than these beheadins. What about Roman crucifixion? Jewsus Christ endured three hours of intense pain, and that was after a thorough lashing. Stretching on the rack was a particularly excruciating way to end a man. I think the Iraqi could really up the shock value by filming some of these rather than merely knifing off a head or two. Don't you agree?
Ahh, how pleasant, the slow breaking of all the body's bones as agony fills the being:

Here's a nice long nasty way to crush those unbelievers called pressing:

Here's an implement placed into the mouth rectum or vagina. Stretch and stretch and stretch:

And finally the ever popular garroting chair. Fun for all ages. Slowly but surely.

If there's an area of expertise where man's creativity never ceases to amaze, it surely must be in making others suffer.
