Man Charged With Brutal Attack on Mother and Infant
(Babylon-WABC, June 24, 2004) — When police on Long Island arrested Eric Freeman for sexually assaulting a young mother little did they know they might have been collaring the serial sex offender they'd long been seeking.
Freeman's most recent attack, according to police happened in Wyandanch. And today police in Babylon, are talking about this man's disturbing past.
"We have captured a very dangerous individual."
Those were the words of detectives in Suffolk County. They are now announcing the arrest of Eric Freeman who they have so far linked with two sexual assaults in a three day period. But there may be more incidents.
The last one was on June 21th in Wyandanch and it was very brutal. This is where a 19-year-old mother was raped and police say that Freeman threatened to kill the woman's five-month-old baby if she didn't perform sexual acts on him. Freeman allegedly held a meat cleaver to the baby girl's throat. The victim's boyfriend came home during the incident and chased the suspect back
to his house in Wyandanch
...There's been a little new info I've found. "His house" turns out to be a boarded up squatter's house. LOL..

Police then surrounded the house and arrested Freeman. He has now been charged with a similar attack on July 21st. The police also believe that Freeman may be responsible for even more attacks.
Lieutenant James Maher, Suffolk County Police Department: "He had prior residences in Connecticut, North Amityville, Huntingdon. So he has been around. He has also lived in other places that we are not aware of."
Freeman has served time for similar crimes. He was incarcerated six year for sodomy, attempted rape, assault and burglary. He violated parole in 1996 and was sent back to prison until 1998 and he has been on the loose since 1998.
Detectives want anyone with any information about these attacks or any other attacks to call their tips hotline at 1-800-222-TIPS.
