Police: Gunman Still On The Loose


TINLEY PARK, Ill. (CBS) ― Four people are dead in a shooting Saturday morning at a Lane Bryant clothing store in a strip mall in Tinley Park, and police say the gunman is still on the loose.

The Will County coroner's office confirmed four people are dead from the shooting at the Lane Bryant store in the Brookside Marketplace Shopping Center, at 7264 W. 191st St.

Will County sheriff's office spokesman Pat Barry said a fifth person had been taken to nearby St. James Hospital and Health Care Centers.

When police arrived, they found multiple victims shot and killed, Tinley Park police Sgt. T.J. Grady said. Police would not release the names of the victims.

When police arrived, they found multiple victims shot and killed, Tinley Park police Sgt. T.J. Grady said. Police would not release the names of the victims.

The motive for the shooting is not known, Grady said.

The first call of shots fired came into police at 10:44 a.m., Grady said. The shopping center is at 191st Street and Harlem Avenue is just south of Interstate 80.

Police searched neighboring stores in the center, and used a police helicopter to search the surrounding area, Grady said. Cars in the parking lot were also searched.

Witnesses said police locked down neighboring stores in the center and searched the stores with guns drawn.

Grady said a search of all stores in the mall and an air search of the area indicated that the gunman fled.

He was described as an African-American male of medium complexion, standing 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 230 to 260 pounds, with a black knit cap, a black waist-length winter coat, and dark jeans, Grady said.

According to this morning's local newspaper, the death toll now stands at five. Tinley Park is now suffering from the same problem most the south suburbs of Chicago are facing. When Chicago tore down its public housing, most niggers moved to the south suburbs because housing prices were cheaper than most other areas. White neighborhoods totally unprepared for the massive influx of niggers, and the worst of the worst coming out of public housing, saw their communities destroyed in a matter of a few years. Funeral services for a South Bend woman who died during a weekend shooting in Tinley Park, Ill., are scheduled for Friday.Jennifer Bishop, 34, was killed along with four other women while shopping in a suburban Chicago Lane Bryant store Saturday.

Bishop worked in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, and had been with Memorial for 13 years. She was in Chicago with her husband, Brian, for something related to his work, said Nancy Pemberton, an administrative nursing supervisor at Memorial.

“She was just an exceptional nurse, a great mom,” Pemberton said. “She took care of patients the way you’d want someone to take care of a member of your family. She had a very soft voice. A very, very sweet smile. Just a good person inside and out.”

In addition to her husband, "Jeni" Bishop is survived by three children, Jacob, Joci and A.J. Bishop; and parents Alan and Pamela Van Huffel of South Bend.

Also surviving Bishop are a sister, Michele Talos of South Bend, and a brother Mark Van Huffel of Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street in Mishawaka.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Matthew's Cathedral in South Bend.

The family requests that, instead of flowers, contributions be made to the Education Fund for Jacob, Joci and A.J. Bishop.
