I have a continuing problem when loading this site. I've timed it, and it can take up to three minutes for the main page to load.
I've tried the suggestions put forward by other members, (deleted Temp files and cookies, and used AdAware to eradicate spyware, but it has made no difference.
It only happens at this site. I tried opening some of my other favourites, and they came up fine and fast, and changed pages quickly. But not this site. It took almost a full minute just to open the Technical Support page, after taking about two and a half minutes just to get the Home Page up! It's like watching grass grow.
If anyone else has a suggestion, I'd be glad to try it. I do not want to leave this site, no matter what.

I think it's a problem on your end. It loads just fine for me.

Ive never had a problem with pages loading. There is a virus that make things slower then hell. One is called Welchia (I had it, and it pised me off to no end). There are fixes, though. I downloaded a patch, and everything was fine after that.

You must have this site confused with Bill Blight's site. Check you URL, and lay off the booze.

First, my apologies for that deranged outburst. That was no way for an Aryan to speak. I had had a couple of bourbons, it was late at night, and I just wanted to briefly check in with VNN before crashing. My *#@#$ computer is so slow when accessing this particular site, and it drives me NUTS! It only seems to happen at this site, and not at any others.
Still, I'll check my system for that virus, and see what I come up with.
Thanks to all for your calm responses.

Check your system for memory leak:
Start>Run>Task manager>look at numbers to the right, under CPU. If at one point they change quickly and drastically, like from 10 to 90 to 20 again, that's a leak.

No problem brother. That's weird though, that it only affects this site. If you haven't already, you can try going to http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and click on download and follow the prompts. It will install a spyware detector. Just doubleclick on the desktop icon it installs and run the scan.
Also, try clearing your temp internet files. right click the E, properties, internet options, click delete cookies and delete files button. It's slightly different with Netscape.
Good Luck.

Id highly recommend you check your computer for spyware. This applies to everyone else also who hasnt and doesnt do so.
Probably the two best anti-spyware programs out there are Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are free and allow for free updates and search and removal of spyware. I would highly recommend downloading both and scanning with one then the other.
-First off get Ad-Aware. Here is a directly link to the download.
http://www.download.com/3001-8022-10214379.html
-Just click on the link and it should start downloading after a few seconds.
Install it.
-Then when you open it up make sure you click on Check For Updates Now.
-Make sure you check for updates before you ever scan. After it downloads the latest reference files its time to scan.
-Take a quick pause and set some options on. Click on the little blue starish icon on the top to go to options. Click on the Scanning tab and make sure all those things are turned on (they will be a green button). However there are 2 things that you cant turn on so dont worry about those. When I meant things to turn on..like Scan within archives, Scan active processes, etc. Also in the General tab you can have it automatically delete spyware after it has done a scan and found some. What it normally does is Quarantine it should you want to re-install a certain thing that was found to be a spyware. I always have it just delete whatever it finds automatically but unclicking the option that says Automatically quarantine objects.
-Click on Scan Now on the left. You have the option of doing a Smart System Scan (which will check your registry and some of your Windows folder) or being able to scan your entire harddrive and other drives (this will of course be a longer scan).
-You should scan both, your registry AND your harddrive.
-Go ahead and click on Smart System Scan and hit next. Let it run the scan and if it finds something go hit Finish and let it delete it. If you did not turn off the option to Automatically Quarantine objects your spyware that were found will be quarantine and are not yet removed from your computer. Click on the Brown Box icon on the top and itll show you the quarantine spyware. Then you can click on an object and let it remove it. However if you unclicked the Automatically Quarantine option it will automatically delete your spyware.
-Now that registry has been checked, scan your entire harddrive. Cick on the Scan Now tab again and click on Select drives/folders to scan this time. Then click on Select to the right of it and specify what you want it to search. If you want it to search your harddrive just make sure that you select the C: drive. If you have more than one drive select the appropriate ones. Hit Proceed. Now click Next and let it do a scan. After its done scanning just hit next and let it delete or quarantine your spyware. Make sure your objects are selected before hitting next so that way you actually affect them. You can quickly select all of them by right clicking on one and do "Select All Objects".
-Some spyware will only be removed after your computer has been rebooted so reboot your computer if it says so. When you reboot it may perform another scan on your computer, go ahead and let it do so.
-Remember, before you scan make sure you check for updates.

Sorry I made it alot more complicated than it really is. Anyway here is what to do for Spybot Search and Destroy. After you have Ad-Aware installed and have done everything with it move on to Spybot.
-Here is the direct download link to Spybot.
http://www.download.com/3001-8022-10289035.html
Once again it'll ask you to save it in a few seconds.
-Install it.
-Run it and do all the stuff it tells you to. Like backing up your registry and stuff. When you are done with each thing just hit the Next button.
-It may tell you something about Ad-Aware detecting some stuff of Spybot's that it may think is spyware but just unclick the option for showing that box, dont worry about what it says.
-Make sure you Search for Updates and download any. Remember always Search for Updates before you ever do any searches.
-I use the default options on Spybot so just simply click on Search and Destroy on the left and search. After it is done searching click on Fix these problems and let it take care of it.
-There thats it. You can use more advanced options on Spybot but they say if youre not careful you can damage your computer so..I dont know LOL I just use default.
-Anyway thats it. Also it doesnt hurt to Defragment your harddrive so go to Start Accessories System Tools and Defragment. It may take a while but it will help your computer out a little. It will arrange the files on your harddrive better so your computer can access them faster.
-Thats all I can think of for now.

......
Sometimes it happens to me. Why not enter through a thread and then click on to the main page only when you want to view it, instead of wasting your time tagging the main site along everytime?

It doesn't matter what I do, KLM. The site starts to load, then hangs in the air for about three minutes, then suddenly kicks in. It's as if there is some damn bug doing its thing just to hold everything up, and then letting go.
I'm almost certain it has to be a bit of malicious code of some sort or other, but my Norton can't find it, nor can Ad-Aware. There are so many bugs around, I wouldn't know where to start. I was hoping somebody might know of a particular bug that slows things down. I've had a couple of suggestions, but nothing's worked.
Damn, I hope I can find the bastard!
Thanks for the tip, anyway.

Thanks you very much for that, Georgie. Actually, I have already used Ad Aware. It found about 53 Objects on my system, and I quarantined them. It didn't make any difference though.
But I'll go get Spybot and see if it finds anything else. And I'll try your other suggestions, too.
Again, thanks for your help.

I've got "Gozilla" software for downloads. Should I avoid using this for spyware? It's always troublesome to find the downloaded software after going thru them

What web browser are you using? How about using a different one. I use Mozilla Firefox myself. http://www.mozilla.com Fairly small download if youre on 56k. Only about 4.7 megs.
