I considered putting this in the Europa Forum, but came to my senses.

Goes like this: Milan Sevo, infamous "capo" of the Swedish branch of the Jugoslavian Mafia - serving time for illegal possession of firearms -, decided that incarceration really didn't agree with him at the moment, and consequently didn't bother with coming back from his unguarded furlough (more or less a groundpillar of the Swedish penal machinery). Instead he took his family and went for a sun holiday abroad. He dutifully informed concerned parties that he would be back to serve out the remainder of his sentence in a month or two. A friend of his is quoted as saying something to the effect that: "No doubt he will return at the onset of autumn, when the weather starts getting boring enough that sitting in a cell won't grate overmuch." The warden comments thusly: "I am very disappointed in him."

And now for the kicker: Milan Sevo has committed no crime by doing all this. Provided he doesn't cause any trouble (fighting, blowing up the world, etc) when he reports back with proper authorities, he will get no extra punishment whatsoever (they might possibly be inclined to, say, take away his phone privileges out of spite or something, but that's really beside the point). It wouldn't even have made a difference if he'd made his escape the old fashioned way, so long as care was taken to avoid clobbering the guards, stealing a car or damaging property and the like.

They haven't even recalled his passport.

This country is run by a bunch of morons.
