The former French justice minister Elisabeth Guigou, a Socialist, has accused Sarkozy of being anti-German, and his election would endanger the process of Franco-German reconciliation, Frankfurter Allgemeine reports (http://www.faz.net/p/Rub867F03D44419425ABE6DCC0E9D5A8505/Dx1%7EEba126a1a47912c2f307db7eeb9ce3dbc%7EATpl%7EEcommon%7EScontent.html). Ms Guigou was referring to remarks by Sarkozy in an interview with the French Philosophie Magazine, in which he said that there was no rational explanation for the genocide. No other civilised country had behaved that way. Frankfurter Allgemeine also pointed out that this was the article in which Sarkozy claimed the paedophilia was a genetic symptom, and wonders whether he implies that the rise of Nazism may also have been caused by a genetic defect of the Germans.

Frankfurter Allgemeine also made the point that Jean-Marie Le Pen has offered Sarkozy talks about co-operation, pointing out that unlike Chirac, Sarkozy had always been polite vis-a-vis the National Front. Sarkozy, meanwhile, hits back and categorically excludes a far-right minister in his government - if he is elected - reports Le Figaro (print edition).http://www.eurointelligence.com/Article3.1018+M590ccee5bb2.0.html
