How the future John Paul II saved a Jewish girl's life

Thursday, 23 March 2000, was an unforgettable day for Edith Zirer, a Jewish woman who was born in Poland but who has lived in Haifa for decades. At last, in the Yad Vashem Memorial to the Holocaust, she was able to personally thank Karol Wojtyla, the man who saved her life 55 years ago.

At that time, Edith Zirer said: "I remember perfectly well. I was there, I was a 13-year-old girl, alone, sick, and weak. I had spent three years in a German concentration camp at the point of death. And, like an angel, Karol Wojtyla saved my life; like a dream from heaven: he gave me something to drink and eat and then carried me on his back some four kilometres in the snow, before catching the train to safety."

Edith Zirer tells the story as if it had happened yesterday. It was a cold morning in early February, 1945. The young Jew, who was not yet aware that she was the only member of her family to survive the Nazi massacre, let a tall, strong 25-year-old, tonsured seminarian carry her and give her a ray of hope.

Today, at 66, Edith is the mother of two and lives in a beautiful home in the Carmel hills, on the outskirts of Haifa. She rebuilt her life in Israel, where she arrived in 1951, suffering from tuberculosis and frightful dreams connected with the war.

For many years, she kept this incident to herself. When Karol Wojtyla ascended the Chair of Peter in 1978, she felt the need to tell the story and express her gratitude. The question that arises immediately, of course, is how could she be certain that that seminarian is the Pope?

The reporters of Haifa's weekly newspaper Kolbo, who heard the story for the first time in 1998, say her story is very convincing. "She is not trying for publicity, all the details she gives seem credible."

The story speaks for itself. "On January 28, 1945, Russian soldiers liberated the Hassak concentration camp, where I had been imprisoned for almost three years, working in a munitions factory. I felt confused, I was prostrated with illness. Two days later I arrived at a small railway station between Czestochowa and Krakow." At this time, Wojtyla was in Krakow preparing for his priestly ordination.

"I was sure I would arrive at the end of my journey. I was lying on the ground, in the corner of a large hall where dozens of refugees were gathering, the majority of whom still wore uniforms with the numbers of the concentration camps. Then Wojtyla saw me. He came with a big cup of tea, the first hot beverage I had had in weeks. Then he brought me a cheese sandwich made with Polish rye bread, wonderful. But I didn't want to eat. I was too tired. He made me eat. Then he told me I would have to walk to catch the train. I tried, but I fell down on the ground. He then took me in his arms and carried me for a long time. All the while the snow fell. I remember his brown jacket, the tranquil voice who told me about his parents' death, and his brother's, the loneliness he felt, and the need not to be overcome by sorrow and to fight for life. His name was indelibly imprinted in my memory."

When they finally arrived at the convoy that would take the prisoners to the West, Edith met a Jewish family who alerted her: "Be careful, priests try to convert Jewish children." She was afraid and hid. "Only later did I understand that all he wanted to do was to help me. Now I want to thank him personally," she said.

You really have no understanding in your perseption of how the Catholic church works, your simply a reactionary. The Catholic Churches PR and spin is no different then any other large scale multi-national organisation.
At this present time it is Kosher, in 50 if the political climate changes it will be something else, it is a self serving organisation. But the ridiculous attacks you make on it seem more from hysteria the a logical foundation based upon facts and historical reasoning.

you highlighted an important point. Jews have been yapping endlessly since the Passion about "Nostra Aetate" and this is a particular debate in Catholicism that is likely to be revisited. You see Jews consider it "antisemitic" for Christians to say they should be converted. They "call on" churches esp the Catholic Church to negate this. They say Nostra Aetate did negate this but some disagree. To the extent that the Catholic or "universal" religion does not state that Jews must convert, it negates its "Catholicity" and makes of itself the puppet which Jarl suggests. There are many Catholics today who are grumbling over this and there is a showdown brewing here. It will either get better or worse.

Jews, when they hear "convert" they remember all the expulsions. They hear "end of game." Make no mistake, Jews could not hang together as an ethnic-ancestry group without the organizing influence of their wicked cult. If the practice of their cult is ever completely suppressed, Jewry will cease to exist. Jews greatly fear conversion to and hence assimilation and thus extinction, at the hands of Christians.

Karol sucking up at yad vashem was the definite low point of his Papacy. Many marranos should be stretched on the rack for that one. The Office needs to root out the crypto jews who engineered this abomination. I think that is a more humiliating sight than anything Jarl could ever post and I wonder why I havent seen that one. If I had to pick a "worst photo op" that would be it.

This post did not require much "historical reasoning" as it simply reports a single event. If the report was false, would it not have been "logical" for a man as honest as His Holiness to have announced in public that he did not save the life of the kikess? The absence of a denial suggests to me that he did save the life of the kikess. He may even be proud of his achievement, and may regret only that he could not have saved many more kikes, kikesses and kikelets, perhaps even all 6 million. If you are in fact a Catholic and a WN, rather than attributing "hysteria" to a truthful post on a WN forum that points out facts about your Church inconsistent with WN, perhaps you can post on a Catholic forum to begin a groundswell in favor of His Holiness making a new ex cathedra statement apologizing to the White Race for saving the kikess and declaring it a sin for any Catholic to ever do anything to assist any kike, or to pass up any opportunity to destroy international kikery.

Good point. Terribly inconsistent to go around "Catholicizing" (as the Ustase menacingly called it) Afreakins, various aboriginals and "heretical" Christians, but exempt the kike. Thus, when the kike believes itself superior based on itz own legal code, we must ask who among us may have confirmed for the kike itz own supremacism, as Duke calls it. Just came across this re: Augustine of Hippo, 4th c. CE, from a very kosher source:

He decided that God had allowed the Jews to survive all the disasters in their history to act as a sign and a warning to Christians. Therefore they ought to be allowed to continue their community life, although without the full privileges of citizenship that Christians enjoyed: God only intended them to be converted en masse when he chose to bring the world to an end.

Accordingly, the Christian Church allowed Jewish communities to survive, while over the centuries it destroyed all other religious competitors.

Well said. You clearly appreciate the signifcance of this as do the Jews and as do not a few Catholics out there who are not happy with the current trajectory. But those Catholics who dont like the Pope groveling before the dirty, nefarious, lying kikish Christ Killers should get their asses in gear and start making a very loud bitch about this because before you know it the Conklave will be called and the votes will come in and the smoke will rise and we will either come out ahead or hymie will, it cant be both. When it comes to the rest of humanity and sub-humanity there is much room for lateral movement but when it comes to the kikes it is either advance or retreat, trying to move sideways will only get us shot.

An ironic example of a converted Jew that was not long ago in the news, is one Skonick I think was his name, who was CFO for one of these big companies that cooked the books. WSJ had a big article about all the big bucks he gave to "The Work."
