I do not believe that Mr A. BLACK is being realistic when he describes a wish to move to another continent. The size of the American Black population is simply too big to re-locate. Even with modern transportation technology and logistics, it would be impossible.

We saw during Operation Desert Shield, for example, the logistical requirements needed to sustain just a half-million young, healthy adults. Imagine 40 million . . . including elderly, the very young, those not acclimatized . . . it's just impossible.

Furthermore, separate from the study of logistics, a study of history shows that no such mass population movement has ever been attempted. The Mongols drove millions before them and the Germans attempted mass population movement during WW2. But these were wartime attempts where the interest of the persons being moved was not a concern (in fact, if they died in the process, so much the better).

The separation between India and Pakistan saw movement of several million people but nothing like the 40 million required to be moved here . . . and the distances were much shorter in India and the expectations much less.

So I believe that a realistic separation has to occur within the continental United States. It has to resemble the policy the white man followed towards the American Indian, only this time, we need to keep our word.

Well, the problem MIKE TODD is that blacks and whites will still be neighbors, so in the interest of a lasting peace, we need to work out a political form that will allow us to co-exist peacefully. If Blacks are allowed to develop a government independent of the White state, then the white state must have assurances that the black nation will not, at some point, attack it.

So, in principle, I have no problem with total independence for blacks . . . but . . . we must have a verifiable treaty that prohibits blacks from later becoming a threat.

To me, the best way to do this is for both the white state and the black state to remain a part of the same federal political confederation.

But I will support whatever idea works, no matter who proposes it, as long as the white state is guaranteed its future safety.
