Hello,

The proxy I am using greatly delays my posts, and says "timed out" more than not, which has created double posts. I can only stay longed in for a few minutes here too, and have to repeatedly re-login. I have been told to download Firefox, but that their proxy blocks you from many sites, or that it's unreliable. Is this true?

When you log in, tick the box that says "Remember Me".

If you want to stay anonymous (and I assume that's why you are using a proxy), and if your preferred method of anonymity is proxies, then you never will stay logged in here long, as you would not only need to be running an anonymous proxy, but have to have cookies, active scripts, Java and ActiveX turned off for a start.

Even then your anonymity is not guaranteed.

A lot of fuss is made about proxies, on the internet, but by and large they are fairly useless, they slow you down, if you are using them properly they don't allow you to do much, and they don't guarantee anonymity.

The only way to stay truly anonymous online is to say nothing, do nothing, and go nowhere (visit no sites), in which case you might as well not be online.

Even Tors can give you away, because people snoop the exit nodes. It's not as accurate a way of monitoring people, as you can't target as specifically, but it is a loophole none the less.

There is no such thing as true anonymity on the web, and it's dangerous to think there is, because it can lure people into saying things, thinking it's 100% confidential, when it's not.

I use Tor, it's fairly good, but since vnnforum doesn't have a secure (https) login option it's possible (although unlikely) for Tor exit node operators to steal your login info. Bottom line, there's no 100% safe anonymous solution.
