Wow, never figured to post much on here but while experimenting with a brisket I found that buying a brisket and having it ground into hamburger patties produces the juicest, fattest hamburgers I've ever had.
Try it sometime; and don't forget to dice an onion and work it into your mix. It will cook up just right along with the meat, mmmm, mmmm, good:cool:

Yeah Richard, brisket cooks 'em up nice and keeps the juices intact. My ex used to make some of the best hamburgers I've ever had with that dam thing ...yeah chopped onion and beer in the mix does it for me. You can even spice it up a bit with some chopped hot peppers if you like hot food.
What would life be without steaks, ribs, burgers ...it would be even more un-american than a NYC jew ...er, well maybe not. Your killer burgers are no doubt even better than what I've had here in NY down there in Texas due to your access to fresh beef.
Happy Eatin!

Oh Ok, corn beef is Ok now and then, very good with a slow cooker.
Interesting, I never realized how many meat cuts come from a cow.

Richard, you know every cult burger joint grinds the hamburger fresh on the spot and never freezes it. I won’t buy store hamburger again if I can help it. I grind my hamburger fresh and when people eat a burger they can’t figure out what spice I use to make it so great. I tell them a skillet is the only spice.
Store ground burger meat comes in a package pre-ground and they re-grind it s a second time thus destroying all the natural juices. So those have to be replaced and many stores use crackers to make old meat look white.
The local mega market here ran an ad saying that a black center in hamburger meat was natural from freezing. I froze some ground hamburger for a couple months and when it thawed it looked just like it did when I froze it. The last store ground hamburger I had almost made me sick and the house stank after frying that nasty thing.
I can’t believe you didn’t know this already. How’s you knowledge on muscle cars? You look like a person that has owned a 71 nova in your lifetime.

the foreshank is a tough piece of meat, when they turn it into corned beef, they basicly pickle it to soften it up a bit, brisket wouldnt be pickled so its a tough cheap piece of meat. good if its ground up or boiled for hours

Hamburger was originally devised as a way to get rid of brisket. Thats what it says on the internet.

I am not so sure I have ever seen a bricket the meat section has not ever been my favorite part in the store, in fact I would rather avoid it. When we have corn beef we use one of those electric pots that cook over night, the meat comes very tender and the dogs drool all day because it smells so good.
