Do not feel bad Melcur; I will be joining you. The sad part is VNN has become so loaded with agent provocateurs, saboteurs, perverts and professional troublemakers that this forum has become a liability to the movement instead of a blessing.

I think this forum is the best one on the internet.

Although Melcur and Donnachaid post lots of good articles, every message board has 2 or 3 people who post 40 new threads a day and anything you post gets moved back down 5 pages within 24 hours, so it never develops. Every message board on the internet is like that, so I accept it, but at least Alex Linder isn't a control freak who gets off on banning people, most message boards exist primarily for the 2 cent thrill of getting to ban people who you don't like or how challenge you in some way, I've seen these schmucks calling Alex out like some cyber-badass and he lets them keep posting, that's a sign he's a truly big man, little men's hands shake and they fumble to find the 'ban' button as fast as they can, then slump over relaxed at the thought of banning the insolent offender.

Okay, like what? I, for one, am fairly convinced that on the secular WN front there isn't much left that will be effective but "the unspeakable". I doubt that anyone thinks forums are going to stop the problems. They do provide an opportunity for new people to learn a lot and an opportunity for like minded Whites to make contact and are certainly not a waste of time if they are actively being fed with useful and interesting material and conversation.

Frankly, all this "quitting" stuff just sounds a lot like another variation of White Flight. I agree that a lot of things would be better around here cleaned up - some of it has been already, but not all. We still get cow vaginas and other assorted nasty and pointless posts. It would also be nice if obvious disrupters would be stopped quickly in their tracks. There are a few running loose that clearly should be restricted to OV but are not. There are others that should be who aren't quite so clearly jews, antis or muds.

As far as Bill White is concerned, I think he is a contentious enough subject around here that if he is not to be banned, he probably should have his own subforum where he and his can post their materials and be left to that area exclusively. After all, they don't need VNNF, they do have their own forum so it is not like their point of view is being censored and stifled. But frankly, if the strong Bill White haters would stop drawing attention to him, stop visiting and commenting in his posts then his materials here would vanish quickly and little observed into old post limbo.

Melcur if you "give up" from the results of some forum poll one has to wonder just what kind of leader you aspire to be.
One must be careful who to trust anywhere, online and in daily life. Forums have cycles, up and downs, and I think when one thinks it is best to stop posting, it is best to just fade away rather than making a drama. In that way you can come back when things are better and not be mocked for saying you are leaving and then come back.
Such is the way I will go, when and if I decide forum posting is not for me.

Maybe that isn't the goal, maybe it's just to collect ip addresses. Not that in itself means anything though, if you use yahoo or google, they already got them. Both record your searches and associate them to ip numbers... if you use the email, assume they got a full copy of any of them.

Well the count of how many people and bots visit a thread is right on the page itself, most threads come nowhere near close to a 1,000 views. I guess to connect ips to a user, one could simply just study the posting habits and times and deduct from that. I don't think any agency or person is going to do that here. There really is nothing illegal going on here and certainly not enough real WN for law enforcement to worry about. Law enforcement really worries about those who never post on the web.

I'll just say this... assume that your ip on VNN (or any other forum) is going right into the hands of law enforcement.. so don't say anything on here or any other forum that you wouldn't tell law enforcement directly yourself.

Maybe that isn't the goal, maybe it's just to collect ip addresses. Not that in itself means anything though, if you use yahoo or google, they already got them. Both record your searches and associate them to ip numbers... if you use the email, assume they got a full copy of any of them.

Well the count of how many people and bots visit a thread is right on the page itself, most threads come nowhere near close to a 1,000 views. I guess to connect ips to a user, one could simply just study the posting habits and times and deduct from that. I don't think any agency or person is going to do that here. There really is nothing illegal going on here and certainly not enough real WN for law enforcement to worry about. Law enforcement really worries about those who never post on the web.

Yeah, I suppose its technically possible to do what you describe here. But in a popular thread there might be dozens or even hundreds of connects at the same time (reading or posting), how would you sort them out to narrow it to the poster?

Really, the only way to associate an IP with a poster is to be an admin or mod on the forum.

What he described is a possible way of catching IP addresses using an 'invisible' image on a messageboard Jane. But its very unlikely that anyone would ever be able to sort through their 'catch' and associate an IP with a name. They would end up with a big list of IP's with only one that they could identify 100% ...their own. ;)

If we saw a connection that looked suspiciously like it was 'working' the forum in this way, we would ban it.
