The parents of a young couple brutally murdered after a January 2007 carjacking expressed relief this afternoon, while the attorney for Eric Dewayne "E" Boyd said he would appeal the verdict of a federal jury that found Boyd guilty of being an accessory to the carjacking.

"One down. Four to go," said Gary Christian, father of Channon Christian, referring to the four suspects who face trials in state court for the killings of Channon, then 21, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Christopher Newsom.

"We do this for Channon," said Channon's mother, Deena. "We've been through the worst. We and the Newsoms have lost our children. We can endure anything."

Hugh Newsom began to cry as he said, "It doesn't take the hurt away for the loss of a great son, but at least there's some consolation that this guy is off the street and he'll be off the street for a long time and not be able to hurt anyone else."

Boyd also was found guilty of "misprison of a felony" - that is, failure to notify law enforcement of the whereabouts of someone you know has committed a crime.

My guess would be, as far as this conviction goes, it is just a 'routine' type of crime, by high security inmate standards. Boyd is neither a sex offender or child attacker so, those avenues would be out as well.

Boyd, my guess he would probably fall into the general 'soldier' ranks of black gang member Federal inmates.

Justice served??? Not hardly...All we can hope for is that whatever prison they end up in...that they will be dealt with inside...with the publicity & nature of how Channon & Christopher died, it is hard to believe that the AB won't take a special interest in these pieces of shit....a shank to the throat, and maybe a shank to the nutts, castrate perhaps....allow them to bleed to death....wishful thinking...this case is one I just can't shake....it stays with you. Stan, I appreciate how you feel and suspect my grandfathers felt the same way and were not under the same disabilities we suffer today. The emotions that well-up reading the medical examiner's testimony quoted in the press is about as upsetting as anything gets. My guess would be that offering a bounty for one of the killer's heads would be a crime and we don't want to be misconstrued even simply discussing that as actually having made an offer.

If however I were going to try to recruit membership in or solicit funds for an organization, such as the Aryan Brotherhood, I would want to make the outfit's position abundantly clear. In the same sense that these crimes against these two kids were obviously hate crimes, if ever there was such a thing, whacking the perps in the joint and claiming responsibility would certainly be terrorism and that, of course, would be the point.
