I opened one of my Mountain House (http://beprepared.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_FS%20Y385_A_name_E_Premium%20™%20Year%20Supply%20of%20Food)cans of freeze-dried beef stew just to get an idea of what it will take to prepare a meal for the family.

I was surprised at how much water it took to reconstitute the food. I'm glad I did this now, because I see that my water supply/water purification is inadequate. Otherwise, it was a tasty meal and the #10 can will make for quite a few meals, especially if I were to ration.

The problem with those types of foods is that they make you more reliant on water supplies. In a crisis water will be the most difficult thing to obtain, even now water is becoming scarce. A person has to sacrifice water from other things like bathing and such to hydrate those foods.

I am not knocking your idea or anything but I am saying this should be a strong consideration before paying a bunch of money for those types of foods.
