View Full Version : Is Morrisey a Racist?
Mick

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about Morrisey of "The Smiths" fame being a racist. I read something in a magazine about the dothead guy from "Cornershop" complaining about Morrisey displaying the Union Jack as being racist. Also, in another post, someone showed a quote from 1996 of Morrisey complaining that all the black artists in the top 10 seemed to be predetermined by the powers that be. Any insight on this?
Thanks,
Mick

I am convinced that Morrissey is a racist. He has made many many statements in interviews, in songs, and in visual presentation that add up to only one thing. However lately he has decided to "repent" to get his career back, even going so far as to release a new single celebrating the life and death of a Mexi gangster in L.A.
Some of the many clues to Morrissey's racism over the years:
His aversion to black music and dance culture, expressed in the song Panic (with the famous refrain "Hang the DJ",) his statement that "Reggae is vile" and his similar opinion of the mid-80s movie Breakdance: "I thought every aspect of the film was vile." He has always stuck to a white rockabilly/jingle-jangle rock sound, abhoring synthesizers, drum machines and the like. And in one interview he said, "I don't think white people and black people will ever really get on or like each other."
His attachment to the old monocultural Britain. His band was called the Smiths, and Smith is the most common English name (or was once). He loves pre-1960 English films. His favorite poet is A.E. Houseman, famous for his deeply conservative odes to dead soldiers. His favorite writer overall is Oscar Wilde. White working-class British and American pop culture figures from the sixties and before have featured prominently on his record sleeves, especially during the Smiths era. In fact his record sleeves, generally designed by himself, are well known for the world they seem to depict, of nostalgia for a better, not-coincidentally whiter time.
His repeated use of skinhead imagery and references to skinheads in his songs. Whatever some may say, in most people's minds skinhead equals racist. In 1992 he played a show at which he famously brandished the Union Jack (which at the time was not some generic fashion accessory but something associated with the far right) in front of a backdrop picture of two skinhead girls, before a rowdy crowd thick with skins who happened to be there to see one of the other acts, Madness. This combination of symbols set the British press off and in its next issue the NME wrote an article asking publically if Morrissey was a racist. Morrissey's career was ruined in his home country and before long he was concentrating on the American market and had moved to L.A. None of which would have happened if it hadn't been for certain songs that had already raised eyebrows:
I've mentioned Panic above. This is one of the best-known songs by the Smiths. When Morrissey went solo, his first album contained the song "Bengali in Platforms", which seemed to parody a Paki immigrant to Britain and then addressed the character directly: "Shelve your Western plans/ And understand/ That life is hard enough when you belong here."
His next album contained the song Asian Rut, which again deals with asian immigrants and British natives encountering each other; this time schoolboys fight each other as Morrissey the narrator, rather than take the asian side as multiculti PC would dictate, stays neutral. Ironically this record contains violin playing by the only non-white EVER to appear on a Morrissey record.
He followed that up with his most rocking album ever which contained two questionable songs: We'll Let You Know was about football hooligans and contained the line "We are the last truly British people you'll ever know." And then there was The National Front Disco, about a boy who joins the racists as his parents cry, "We've lost our boy." "England for the English" say the boy and his new skinhead friends. Morrissey sings, "There's a country/ You don't live there/ But someday you would like to/ And if you show them what you're made of/ Then you might do." And, "You want the day to come sooner/ When you settle the score." And this song wasn't gently mocking, or mournful. It is rousing. It is an anthem.
It is around this time that the Union Jack incident happened and Morrissey became hated in his own country.
There are other subtly racist lyrics I could point out but you get the idea.
Eventually Morrissey's career dried up and he sat in L.A. for most of a decade witthout a record deal.
Now he is back and receiving more press coverage and sales--worldwide and in Britain--than ever before. He has been showered with awards and honors. This has been made possible by his efforts to appear anti-racist in his songs while never quite admitting that he made racist statements in the past.
That's it in a nutshell.

As someone who has followed his career closely, including his lyrics and interviews, for twenty years, i have reached these conclusions.
I don't think he's a white supremacist but i think there's a chance that he's a white seperatist, or anyway opposed to ZOG's global mongrolisation program, which contrary to media bullshit about 'haters' all healthy people are when you spell out what this agenda exactly entails.
He sends out mixed messages, for sure, and he's clever enough to play that game.
Maybe he is now compromising for the sake of his career but he probably feels that he has done his bit.

As someone already pointed the hints have been subtle to suggest he is somewhat racist. His public stratements were always deliberately provocative
and his lyrics enmeshed in controversies, with this he proved to be a wise manipulator of the press.
One thing certainly holds true to this day, his lyrical prowess are of such legendary ability that none other can convey the dept of emotion he did from a song, something that few artists can even begin to approach let alone match. He and the smiths produced some of the most thought-provoking and intelligent rock 'n' roll of the post-punk era, and this is why the onetime cult figure enjoys a rabid loyal fan base around the world.
Here are some of his quotes that can be interpreted as having racist undertones:
"I don't hate Pakistanis, but I dislike them immensely' Morrissey (1977)."
"Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, I think they're all vile in the extreme."(1986)
"Reggae to me is the most racist music in the entire world. It's an absolute glorification of black supremacy." ( 1986)
"I don't want to sound horrible or pessimistic, but I really don't think, for instance, black people and white people will ever really get on or like each other. The French will never like the English. The English will never like the French. The tunnel will collapse." (1992)

I absolutely adore Morrissey. I have every one of his cd's and have been listening to him for about 13 years. Some interesting quotes:
In an interview with Q magazine (September issue) he is quoted as answering the question, 'Do you think people are innately racist?: "Yes. I don't want to sound horrible or pessimistic but I don't really think, for instance, black people and white people will ever really get on or like each other. I don't really think they ever will. The French will never like the English. That tunnel will collapse."
He has some racist friends. And if he carries on this way, he'll have thousands more.
'Viva Hate', his first 'solo' LP, contained the charmingly titled 'Bengali In Platforms', a convoluted diatribe against assimilation: "He only wants to impress you/Bengali in platforms/He only wants to embrace your culture/And to be your friend forever/ ... Oh shelve your Western plans/ ... life is hard enough when you belong here."

The only thing I dislike about him is that he used to be a faggot. At least he had the decency to become celibate. I'd say he is definately, at the very least, pro-white. Ex-fag or not, that's still more than most musicians could claim.

I was not aware Morrisey had any racial awareness. This thread has enlightened me. I have now added several points to his esteem rating. I remember buying The Smiths Greatest Hits in the mid 80's. How I loved his music. I saw him more recently on a late night talk show. He did an interview and then performed. He's a good guy, that's for sure. And an extremely talented maker of music. The Smiths are easily one of the best bands of all time. So don't try telling me they're overrated, hokey, and has-beens.
They didn't and still don't get a lot of radio play. For all the good tunes they made this is inexplicable. Maybe the powers that be felt they were subtlely racist and so decided to silence them.
Good times, for a change. See the luck I've had, would make a good man turn bad. So please, for once in my life, let me get what I want. Lord knows it would be the first time. I hope he makes a new CD/album.

Yes, there is mounting evidence that Morrissey, if not a racist, hates the NWO. "A rush and push and/the land that we stand on is ours/it has been before/so why can't it be now?" from A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours from "Strangeways, Here We Come" is a pretty great lyric. What he's about to me is the civilized and dignified English opposition to the Third World beshitting of Western society. You don't have to be a macho skin to hate what's going on --- you can be a tea-sipping quasi-fruit, too. Actually, these types hate the darkening of the times most of all, because the darkening is what crushes elegance and precious beauty and tenderness most of all. Sorry to sound faggoty for a second there, but that's what Morrissey represents.
I read an interview once where he was rumored to have commented negatively on the Jewishness of one of his (maybe now former) band members.
This is random, but I love the line from Bigmouth Strikes Again on "The Queen is Dead" where he sings, "There's always someone who knows/with a big nose who knows/who trips you up and laughs when you fall" I just pretend it's about Jews, even if it ain't.
There is no question Morrissey don't like the blackies.

You're exactly right about these effete types being among the biggest opponents of ZOG-JOG-NWO, i've witnessed it personally.

Well let's hear it for "elegance, precious beauty and tenderness." We need warriors, but we can't all be warriors. Would anyone want to live in a society of nothing but hard-asses? "Tea-sipping quasi-fruit" values are a big part of what makes life worth living; and the capacity to create, sustain and value these things is part of what makes White people unique as a race. Without such things we might as well be muds. Of course the ideal situation is for us to be able to be both warriors and aesthetes as well.

Here's one which can be interpreted as anti ZOG/NWO:
"I believe that everything went downhill from the moment the McDonalds chain was given license to invade England — don't laugh, I'm serious. To me it was like the outbreak of war and I can't understand why English troops weren't retaliating. The Americanisation of England is such a terminal illness — I think England should be English, and Americans should go home and spoil their own country." (, September 1987)

That is mere speculation, about him being gay that is. He has never "come out", if you will, but his stage antics and songs were sexually ambiguous. He wrote them so that they could be interpreted from a man or woman's point of view, and I think this gave him a sort of mystique that helped propell him to cult-hero status. When questioned about this in 1985 he said: "It's an absolutely intentional move," "It has to be that way. Because I think all the great writers that I ever liked were writers who spoke for everybody. I don't like it when there's this separatism, that certain groups can be put into absolutely defined categories, that this group could only possibly appeal to men, or women, or a certain sex."
He was also celibate for many years, and I believe he still is. Heck even if he was a full-on fag, that would in no way nullify that he and the smiths are the most compelling music group to come out of England.

I love 'The Smiths.' My favorite song is probably, 'How soon is now?' And a few others are, 'Bigmouth strikes again,' 'this charming man,' and 'girlfriend in a coma.'
There is nothing wrong with a man becoming more in tune with his more sensual and/or feminine side, just as long as he is still able to carry out the duties that a MAN must carry out in this world.
The details on the way he acts upon doing it, means nothing.

I have never doubted that Morrissey was racist. I was at a gig of his once around.....oh....'91, and the imagery on the backdrop was two Skingirls. Add the Union Jack and various "Hateful":) lyrics and You have a Nuremburg Rally. Morrissey is probably one of the greatest lyricists of all time. Shit, I'd say the Smiths were one of the best Bands of all time. Maybe the best pop band ever in their own odd way. King of Pop? It's not Wacko Jacko.

Lyrics from one of my favorite smiths songs:
"Cemetery Gates"
A dreaded sunny day
so I meet you at the cemetery gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day
so I meet you at the cemetery gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
while Wilde is on mine
So we go inside and we gravely read the stones
all those people all those lives
where are they now?
with the loves and hates
and passions just like mine
they were born
and then they lived and then they died
seems so unfair
and I want to cry
You say: "ere thrice the sun done salutation to the dawn"
and you claim these words as your own
but I've read well, and I've heard them said
a hundred times, maybe less, maybe more
If you must write prose and poems
the words you use should be your own
don't plagiarise or take "on loans"
there's always someone, somewhere
with a big nose, who knows
and who trips you up and laughs
when you fall
who'll trip you up and laugh
when you fall
You say: "ere long done do does did"
words which could only be your own
and then you then produce the text
from whence was ripped some dizzy whore, 1804
A dreaded sunny day
so let's go where we're happy
and I meet you at the cemetery gates
Oh Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day
so let's go where we're wanted
and I meet you at the cemetery gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
but you lose because Wilde is on mine

Another beautiful smiths song:
"I want the one I cant have"
On the day that your mentality
Decides to try to catch up with your biology
Come round ...
'Cause I want the one I can't have
And it's driving me mad
It's all over, all over, all over my face
On the day that your mentality
Catches up with your biology
I want the one I can't have
And it's driving me mad
It's all over, all over, all over my face
A double bed
And a stalwart lover for sure
These are the riches of the poor
A double bed
And a stalwart lover for sure
These are the riches of the poor
And I want the one I can't have
And it's driving me mad
It's all over, all over my face
A tough kid who sometimes swallows nails
Raised on Prisoner's Aid
He killed a policeman when he was
Thirteen
And somehow that really impressed
Me
And it's written all over my face
Oh, these are the riches of the poor
These are the riches of the poor
I want the one I can't have
And it's driving me mad
It's written all over my face
On the day that your mentality
Catches up with your biology
And if you ever need self-validation
Just meet me in the alley by the
Railway station
It's all over my face
Oh ...

I agree with most of your description but take issue with the concept of SS man as an ideal.
My old man, ex Wehrmann and junior officer had little respect for the SS on the basis that 'they showed great courage , but had little morality' and courage without morality leads merely to exacerbated evil.
The "courage" of the SS in the rampage through many of the countries and capital cities of Europe, the SS tally of dead White families and White civilian deaths at the hands of the SS in Central Europe (and nope they werent all yids wiped out by the SS) shows that the aesthete and warrior is flawed - if morality is lacking .
The longest serving SS leader 'little Heinrich' was a myopic weedy failed accountant who could not even shoot a gun straight - hardly a role model.
:)
As for Morrissey, also not a 'straight shooter', also not a role model nor a proper singer(unlike little Heinrich): should Morrissey be blamed for abandoning the delights of rain swept Manchester to go and live in Los Angeles?

I don't know much about Morrisey, but he has got to be gay. I don't want to offend you guys, but whenever I have seen this guy on the tube or heard his music I felt that it was so obvious that he was a candidate for "Queer Eye". Am I wrong?...my gaydar must be outta whack. Clear this up for me again as I know that it was briefly mentioned in another post.
First you take the time to point out that you "don't know much about Morrissey" then you follow that with the utmost ignorant assertion that he is gay, the likes of which would earn you the "Arthur Kemp of the year" award.
Let me ask you something, why not just come out and say that you dont know ANYTHING AT ALL about this man, his music, or his life?
Typical Ohio inbred redneck with no sense of culture, if you were not plagued with a nigger-level short attention span you might've read the whole thread or done a simple yahoo search and answered your own query.
In any case the thread was about Morrisseys music and wether he is a racist or not, it had not a thing to do with his sexual orientation and as such is irrelevant in this thread. Look 'Politico', you're name leads me to believe that you're one of those Italian grease-balls with no sense of culture who prefer to indulge in nigger 'hip hop music' rather than a super talented prolific musician who might have had homosexual tendencies at one time in his life but was nevertheless celibate. If a White musician who has produced some of the most intelligent music of our era is too "gay" for you, then turn your Jew-tube to MTV and immerse yourself in the 'music' of 40 IQ ex-con niggers who seem to be quite popular with you filthy wops.

Morrissey may be White and a Poof, what's worse is that he may be a leftwing Irish White Poof - but worst of all:
He can't sing properly and his Lyrics are like Convent-Schoolgirl Poetry

"This Night Has Opened My Eyes"
By the smiths
In a river the color of lead
Immerse the baby's head
Wrap her up in the News Of The World
Dump her on a doorstep, girl
This night has opened my eyes
And I will never sleep again
You kicked and cried like a bullied child
A grown man of twenty-five
Oh, he said he'd cure your ills
But he didn't and he never will
Oh, save your life
Because you've only got one
The dream has gone
But the baby is real
Oh, you did a good thing
She could have been a poet
Or, she could have been a fool
Oh, you did a bad thing
And I'm not happy
And I'm not sad
A shoeless child on a swing
Reminds you of your own again
She took away your troubles
Oh, but then again
She left pain
So, please save your life
Because you've only got one
The dream has gone
But the baby is real
Oh, you did a good thing
She could have been a poet
Or, she could have been a fool
Oh, you did a bad thing
And I'm not happy
And I'm not sad
Oh ...
And I'm not happy
And I'm not sad
Oh ...
And I'm not happy
And I'm not sad
Certainly I can see why most people wouldn't get it. Afterall, the era of intelligent pop-music was a shortlived one superseded by nigger/whigger (c)rap and jew-friendlyrock 'n' roll drowned in simplistic and stale guitar riffs backed by elementary vocals that would make snoop nig rival Plato. I think Morrissey's music is best left to White people with an eye for actual culture and exquisite, timeless poetry, no?

I believe itz half Jewish; and no, "common knowledge" itz not, seeing as he doesn't even look Jewish.
But then again who cares right? God know's each one of those pesky parasites are in on the international plot to squelch the White race. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Marr was a guitarist to one of the most compelling British groups by day while gathering intelligence for zionist agencies by night.
P.S. This little "itz" game is kinda stale, no? Not that it matters, we all know WN's need their daily fixin' of "whosajew" to keep the "movement" moving, so to speak.

Clever lyrics, well-crafted pop-tunes and a smattering of racial awareness aside, one query for you: Does your Morrissey shrine include life-sized posters lining the walls, as well? You know, akin to a 14 year old girl from suburbia with the latest pop sensations' various accoutrements firmly ensconced in her bedroom.

What Difference Does It Make
All men have secrets and here is mine
So let it be known
For we have been through hell and high tide
I think I can rely on you ...
And yet you start to recoil
Heavy words are so lightly thrown
But still I'd leap in front of a flying bullet for you
So, what difference does it make ?
So, what difference does it make ?
It makes none
But now you have gone
And you must be looking very old tonight
The devil will find work for idle hands to do
I stole and I lied, and why ?
Because you asked me to !
But now you make me feel so ashamed
Because I've only got two hands
Well, I'm still fond of you, oh-ho-oh
So, what difference does it make ?
Oh, what difference does it make ?
Oh, it makes none
But now you have gone
And your prejudice won't keep you warm tonight
Oh, the devil will find work for idle hands to do
I stole, and then I lied
Just because you asked me to
But now you know the truth about me
You won't see me anymore
Well, I'm still fond of you, oh-ho-oh
But no more apologies
No more, no more apologies
Oh, I'm too tired
I'm so sick and tired
And I'm feeling very sick and ill today
But I'm still fond of you, oh-ho-oh
Oh, my sacred one ...

Sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner, but I forgot to check this thread for your response. I have to get my priorities straightened out, and will do so...quickly! I knew that my query would set you off into a tirade, as I have noticed your overly emotional responses to anyone that might question your love of Morrissey or Antonio. You really do have a childlike spick temper, and your childish hero worship is pathetic. "You people" really are a powder keg of bombastic bile. I have heard enough of Morrissey to recognize his droning monotone, and his sophmoric lyrics. The guy looks like a fag (now an overweight fag), and so does that whiney little spick Antonio Banderas. I realize that you are an oily med yourself, so I guess the jerking off to Antonio is understandable. You chose to make it personal.
I am not going to get into some elaborate "debate" with you on any subject as I realize that you do not have the control of your faculties required. I will however correct your assertions concerning my background, and therefore you will have solicited more response than you have earned. I am of Germanic descent on both sides of the family, and I don't listen to Rap music. My name Politico was taken because my degrees from redneck Ohio State University are in Political Science.
My "guess" about you is that you are about five feet tall, in denial about your gay tendencies, have very oily pores, and work in a retail media store. Oh come on now, we're talking about a one-dimensional, 1980's, new wave group, that has a few good albums and a few depressing hits. Likening 'The Smiths' to the greatest band of all time is laughable, as you might as well attempt to do the same with 'REM.' I would say that the writing is above average certainly, but genius or not heard of, it in no way is.
Listening to the music for the first time, I just found 'The Smiths,' to be an outstanding band with stupendous instrumentation and obviously a talent for writing some catchy pop tunes. To the people who are trying to categorize this band as the best ever, you are just fanatics and any male who is a fanatic fan of the Smiths, has to either be a depressed, effeminate, emo, pseudo-teenage music historian, who works at a record shop for a living, or a homosexual.
Apparently this poster is the non-white mongrel SpanishWarrior, who posted a picture of himself with a tight fitting sweater on and also posted interracial porn. This is what a mod said. But Morrissey may be an interesting man to talk to but nonetheless if you watch their DVD, it is obvious that this man must be bisexual or just plain homosexual, not to mention a very corny and effeminate stage presence as well, that he has. This is not the type of music that makes men obviously. It probably makes depressed and nihilistic faggots.
Make no mistake, I like this band but putting Morrissey as my avatar on a website or having posters of him on my wall--I would begin to question my sexuality. I have had conversations with a lot of women about their favorite Smiths songs.

Fruitless as it may be to reply to cowards and obvious insecure faggots with anal fetishes, I can't deny myself the gratification of placing a trailer park redneck in his rightful place. You seem to be well versed in the "look" of a fag, makes me wonder just how an inbred of your sorts has had so much exposure to queers that you can discern them so easily. As for your male masturbatory fantasies that you tried to impose on me, why not discuss your other taboo scat fetishes so typical of your ilk? What else does a good ol Ohio redneck have in his video box? Home made beastiality from your nightly midnight escapades in the barn? Pedophilia from your last family reunion in Kentucky?
Choosing to defy logical reasoning abilities and spelling, obviously, you go on to deem Morrissey as being "sophmoric", well as if we didn't know a white-trash faggot from Ohio wouldn't know anything about refined musical poetry, a big contrast from watching nascar races with a group of drunk toothless hillbillies who fuck their daughters and shoot deers.

Political Science? LOL I went to college with a few hillbilly queers who also majored in that, they're either slaving away to the Jews for minimum wage as stock boys at walmart or flipping burgers at Mcniggers. Oh but I'm sure you've made out quite well in your doublewide propped up in your trailer community where intrafamilial orgies are nightly occurings.

This computer age is a marvelous thing, isnt it? coward rednecks who wouldn't so much as look me in the eye to avoid confrontation with a "greasy" med like me can spew off faggotry and make coward remarks online when he knows damn well he wouldn't dream about it in person. I'd sure love to have an actual confrontation with an inbred of your kind so you can help me bring out those "homosexual tendencies", suffice it to say that it would be the absolute last time in your worthless life that you even dream of crossing a greasy Southern European. for now that's all as I must get to bed. See, unlike your minimum wage job at walmart that pays for your kiddy porn tapes I run my own business and must get my sleep, but if you're ever in the tri-state area please shoot me a PM and I'll be sure to arrange a designated area for us to conclude our tentative dispute, that is if a gutless woman like you wouldn't mind having your face rearranged and the few teeth you have left shattered.

Oh, now I see...I didn't realize that this little guy was Sir Dildo. I have to apologize to Vivadodio/Antonio/Morrissey/etc. - I didn't mean to attack a young boy who reminds me of one of my little nephews. Now I understand his reference to "attending" college - he isn't old enough to have graduated, and his temper probably got him in trouble when his first assignment was late, so he "showed them" and quit!
I am happy to see that young uneducated people such as Vivadodio having dropped out of school, are starting their "own businesses". I see little guys like this one selling T-shirts around campus all the time!
It also is good to see that even though not formally educated, a young man can be taught to use his spellcheck and thesaurus when playing with his parent's computer. If these young pups would spend their energy (combined with some self discipline) on their studies (where it matters most), they may not find themselves in such a frustrated status in society.
Vivadodio....It will all be alright if you just try to control yourself a little. I must admit that you are entertaining to listen to, but could you add some variation to your attacks on white people? Everything you say to each poster sounds the same, and the amusement factor becomes diminished in the process. Now Viva....like El Cid, once more into the breach!

If so, I could use some crumbs from his table.
I happen to be a proud owner of a Smiths CD called “Singles”, which I enjoy, regardless of Morrisey’s excesses of either above average turn-over in heterosexual activity or an above average turn-over in equal gender cake-candling, egg nog showering, golden showering, fellatio, analingus or whatever. What turns them on, is their business. What I find silly, is the way people let publicity influence their decision making process when it comes time to purchase a certain group’s music. Instead of buying the works for their pleasure value only, they let themselves get duped by what illusion the artists wish to project. A good example of this took place in the early 70’s when Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin and others took the gullible on a ride with these Satanist publicity stunts

'The Smiths' and later Morrissey solo was easily one of the best pop acts to ever come into existence. You don't see a melodic pop band like that anymore. He definately poured his heart and soul into his work. Many people have had times in their lives when they can relate to a Smiths' album.
He did a great service to pop music and enriched the world.
Great band. Timeless.
He seems like an intelligent man and his comments involving the issue of race and culture prove that.
