An Aboriginal community police officer who encouraged the traditional marriage of his 13-year-old daughter in the Northern Territory will not face any criminal charges.
The Police Ethical and Professional Standards Unit referred the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions, whose office has decided not to lay any charges.
But senior police say the officer, from a central Australian community, will be disciplined internally.
Police are also creating an information pack for officers about traditional marriage and the law relating to underage sex.
