Any thoughts on Iggy Pop?.

Should the geriatric musical entertainer Mr Iggsworth 'Iggy' Pop hang up his microphone and switch off the Marshall Speakers - and retire with whatever remaining dignity he has - to an ol'folks home?.

Old Timer Iggy is approaching 70 :( yet still jumps around on stage trying to sing.

More freak circus?, than Mr Bojangles on Acid?.

Iggy Pop is the godfather of punk. You had that whole explosion in the UK and Iggy Pop and others were the ones in America becoming popular.

I admire how free spirited he seems to be, and of course he was always known for his wacky and exciting stage presence. You have to love The Stooges, I am not that familiar with them but they certainly put out many great punk songs. When going down the list of bands who certainly gave it their all and put on good live shows, Iggy Pop would be on that list.

That guy is like 5'2'' of pure dynamite.

Apparently he is Jewish but I honestly doubt that he gathers intelligence for zionist agencies in his spare time. lol

My feeling is that you are only as old as you feel, if Iggy can still put on good shows he should go for it. I hope I will have the energy to do stuff like that when I am his age, that is really cool. However, if he is just overstaying his welcome and has lost his former showmanship and whatnot, he should leave on a good note and not tarnish the version his fans used to have of him.

But his name is synonymous with punk and I find myself liking some of their music. He seems like he has a good sense of humor.

Iggsworth Lemuel Popbergovitch may not be Beth Shin's best agent anymore , but with all that energy he'd sure be a wow as a geriatric nurse.

A jew, a conservative (Well before jews took over that movement) and a nihilist.

Great rock artist though, truly great.

Have you been nipping from your parent's liquor cabinet? Come on, you can be honest here.

Phony Bowie - nothing more, nothing less.

That's a fascinating correlation. I'll have to delve deeper into that one.

No, I live in my own place.

I am not that familiar with Iggy Pop in that I don't know of him except from hearing some of his music (which I like) and some clips of him on Vh1 in concert(which were cool). In the past I have read up on him on the internet as well. However, I was not of the generation to be a hardcore fan.

I have also heard about him from others. That is how I pretty much base my opinion. He always comes up in conversations about punk.

I wouldn't call him a fake Bowie either. But surely some of his antics were similar.

Everyone will have a different opinion, that is the purpose of a discussion forum.

I'm just kiddin' around with you. It's just that I found your verbiage rather funny. ;)

However, he did emulate many of D.B.'s creative attributes & styles. I might not care for many of Bowie's odd proclivities, yet he was rather innovative.

Some of his LP's were produced, and songs were written, by David Bowie.

Some of his band members were wearing nazi regalia.

"Lust for life" is a good rock 'n roll song.

The last 10 years or so mr. Pop is making the rounds on MTV, performing with negro rappers. Jews gotta live.

We all move into the 70 year old direction, but he's in his mid 50's and has a no-fat body. Probably, through growing a high-fat liver
