How do you feel about Handel's oratorio The Messiah? Should it be quietly allowed to slip away due to its "mongrel" influence of Christianity? Or do you believe as I do it is a triumphal work of Aryan imagination and musical genius? Do you have some other thoughts you'd like to share? I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

If you're not familiar say so, and I will dig out some material off the net. It's usually performed in churches and universities around Christmastime.

I enjoy it despite the Christian influence.

I haven't heard that particular piece: however, Mozart's Requiem is one of my definite favorites among classical music, a fantastic masterpiece. It is all about religion, but hey, who speaks Latin nowadays? And it is hardly going to change a single individual's opinion on religion in any direction. An atheist will understand that people back then were religious, and accept it without thinking more on the matter.

Handel's Messiah does not cut any ice compared to the Glorious masterwork of Monteverdi's Vespers.
