I'm not huge gamer, but this game was recommended to me by a poster on SF. Not sure when it came out but I picked it up on Ebay for about $10. So far the game has been very good with good immersion and freaky 3D environments. Gameplay is good too and with all white characters.
If you have a gaming computer and want a enjoyable escape you might want to check it out.

FEAR is one of the best shooters out there; I own it and the two expansions. They are pretty good but not as good as the original.
FEAR 2 will be released on Feb 12. The demo is great and if the game was still produced by the company that originally made the game, I'd buy it.
However, Warner Brothers now owns the right to the franchise so I'll be getting FEAR 2 from a torrent site.

I've been through Extraction Point and and just about through Perseus Mandate which I'm enjoying quite a bit. I hope that FEAR 2 isn't overwhelming with graphics like Halflife 2, which I don't care for.

FEAR 2 is more of an action game that a horror/suspense experience.
It's still pretty good but it lacks any strong NPC characters and there weren’t any really creepy parts like in FEAR 1. (say for instance the stair vision which takes place early into FEAR 1.
I really liked the Paxton Fettel character in the first 3 installments; he helped drive the story with his occasional appearances and conversation. He was a man of mystery till close to the end.
I didn't feel any strong link with any of the characters until the very last minute of the game but that DID open up some interesting possibilities for a FEAR 3.
Also, dynamic shadows are no more-the game was written to consoles with a port to PC added to help sell a few more copies.
You can’t lean around corners either...like it really matters because the game is way too easy, even on the hardest setting.
