Jamaica sees 50 slayings in one week
Associated Press
Kingston — Nearly 50 homicides were reported in Jamaica last week in the Caribbean island's bloodiest seven-day period this year, police said Monday.
A record 47 people were killed between Aug. 9 and Aug. 15, pushing this year's homicide total to 835, police said. The figure is on pace to surpass the previous record of 1,138 killings in 2001.
Police blamed seven homicides on gang clashes, six on domestic violence, four on robbery and two on mobs with vendettas, while the motives behind the other 28 were undetermined. Police said they have made arrests in 10 of the killings.
Much of the recent violence is blamed on the drug trade and has occurred in Spanish Town, a gritty industrial suburb of Kingston, the capital. The impoverished area has been the stage of almost nightly gun battles between rival street gangs vying for turf, police say.
Spanish Town's mayor has called on the government for a full-scale deployment of the military to restore order. “The police have tried. We need the army,” Raymoth Notice told private radio station RJR on Monday.

Big surprise with this story.
Again, anywhere you have niggers you have problems.
Is there a place anywhere in the world that has a high percentage of niggers, that doesn't have a high crime rate?
The upside is at least they are killing other niggers. I just wish they would pick up the pace a little(I mean a lot)

They kill tourists, too. And when they do they usually get away with it because the local police don’t want to arrest them, the D.A.’s don’t want to prosecute them and the jurors don’t want to convict them. Not enough Americans, Europeans and Canadians are aware of how dangerous the Caribbean is for Whites.

The island's pervasive poverty and a malaise among young Jamaican males has fostered a pandemic of crime. Jamaica, and in particular Kingston, has the worst reputation in the Caribbean for violent crime (the nation had a record 1,138 murders in 2001). Although most violent crime occurs in ghettoes far from tourist centers, many island visitors continue to report being robbed, mugged, or scammed, despite government claims that crime against visitors has dropped. Several tourists have been murdered, a fact highlighted by the disappearance (and presumed murder) of a female travel writer while staying at an all-inclusive resort in Negril in 2000.
Many among Jamaica's underclass seem permanently 'pissed off and - as one traveler put it - 'at war' with foreigners, whom they are often intent to rip off.
Most crime against travelers is petty and opportunistic. Take sensible precautions with your valuables. Steer clear of ghettoes, where you are very likely to get into serious trouble. Try to avoid walking at night, but if you do, stick close to main thoroughfares. The US State Dept. and British Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel advisories also warn against taking public transport and visiting downtown Kingston unless absolutely necessary.
Some Jamaica visitors reported being robbed at gunpoint ('stick-ups') in their cars or hotel rooms. Keep hotel doors and windows securely locked at night, and lock car doors from the inside while driving. Don't open your hotel door to anyone who cannot prove his or her identity. If you're renting an out-of-the-way private villa or cottage, check in advance with the rental agency to establish whether security is provided. And don't assume you're entirely safe at all-inclusive resorts. There are security issues even here.
It is very unsafe to camp in the wild, especially alone or in small groups. Be cautious if invited to see the 'real Jamaica' by a stranger. And be constantly wary of young Jamaican males with whom you may strike up a seeming friendship. Women need to be doubly cautious, as rape is common.
Many local police are members of the communities they serve and cannot always be trusted to be impartial.

"Travel journalists should be prepared to initiate controversial debate on destination areas like the Bahamas. In the long run it is better for the Bahamas to stop publishing wrong informations and marketing slogans like "It is better in the Bahamas". In fact there is wide spread crime, corruption, injustice, drug trade and a high murder rate in The Bahamas."
