Sony Europe has announced a series of deals with the independent record label communities in the UK, Germany and France, which will see their content being made available on Sony’s forthcoming Connect online music service.
In addition, according to a report in today's Financial Times, Sony has also signed up McDonalds to its Connect service, beating Apple's iTunes to the deal. The two companies are locked in a race to launch in Europe first. McDonalds' customers will receive free download vouchers for the Connect service when they buy their burger and fries. The FT states that an announcement on the deal will be made later this week. Earlier this year, it had appeared as if Apple's iTunes service would win the Mcdonalds deal.
