Of all the things that fall under the heading of "crime" the worst by far has to be the subversion of the laws themselves. Or to put it in a more ethnically specific sense, the jewing of the law.

When a law is jewed it continues to function but in such a way that injustice and misery are multiplied. The judges and courthouses and police carry on just as they did before, only the effect is different... The thousands of effects behind the appearence of so much efficency. The effects that the casual observer does not immediately experience but exist like air in a room or beams in a house...

The more jewed the laws, the harder it is to leave their jurisdiction. Walls and bureaucracy are created to keep more people in than out. There are more crimes because there are more rules: Like the crime of using a 'threatening' word, or looking askance at a nigger. And there are more laws because of the circumstances, that were contrived, for the purpose of the laws...
