(CBS) In the U.S. heartland, a different crime scare is on the loose.

They call it Nazi crank.

It's not a plague of racist skinheads but a spreading wave of drug abusers hooked on speed, a type of methamphetamine cooked up by Nazi Germany.

As CBS News Correspondent Bob McNamara reports, it's cheap, fast, and a recipe for quick death.

Iowa is sick of it.

Another methamphetamine suspect runs from police. Another blazing methamphetamine lab and the meth maker are taken down. And another arrest is added to the hundreds each year now.

"It's so bad that our governor-elect is even considering calling out the national guard," said Dennis Anderson of the Polk County Sheriff Department.

"There are not enough resources being dedicated to this battle. Local law enforcement officials are swamped," said Iowa Governor-elect Tom Vilsack.

The latest methamphetamine fix is a home-cooked powder called Nazi crank, rocks with more kick than cocaine.

"It's cheaper, it lasts longer so if you've only got so much dollars, you want the best bang for your buck," explained Anderson.

Long ago and far from Middle America, Nazi crank had its beginnings in Hitler's Germany.

The Nazis wanted an easily-made stimulant for their battle-weary soldiers and their factory workers supplying the war machine. From cold tablets, alcohol, the lithium contained in batteries, and the deadly ammonia that meth makers steal from farm fertilizer supplies, Nazi crank is an explosive chemical cooked up quickly and cheaply.

Like a cancer, from crank's recent rebirth in Missouri its curse has spread to Midwest states in every direction and is still growing, drug agents say.

Some say people will do anything to get another fix.

One 34-year-old addict lost her children, her home, her job, and almost her life to Nazi crank.

Police expect Nazi crank to bring hundreds more arrests in the coming year and for some, the speed they can't seem to live without could lead to the last trip they take.

Of Course Momus the ladino (http://onelook.com/?w=ladino&ls=a) is to dumb to realize that I am not the author of the above news article, but am merely forwarding it. He also shows his idiocy by criticizing the use of the acronym "Nazi". 3 of the top NAtionalsoZIalistiche groups in America: The National Socialist Movement (http://nsm88.com/), The NSDAP/AO (http://nazi-lauck-nsdapao.com/), and The American Nazi Party (http://americannaziparty.com/) ALL call themselves "Nazis".

Put the addicts in a prison, give them all the crank they want, and videotape their antics until they die. Edit the videotapes into an educational movie (with appropriate narration) and show it to school kids, so they can see what crank leads to.

"Crank was first made in National Socialist Germany," says a pretty blonde Aryan woman. "Hitler wanted to make sure that his soldiers weren't caught at a disadvantage because they were too weary to handle an emergency."

"That's right," agrees a handsome Aryan man. "Using crank might have been acceptable for the German soldiers because they would have died in battle without its stimulating properties."

"It was a life or death situation," explains the Aryan woman.

Aryan man: "But you kids aren't going to be in that kind of situation, or at least we hope not."

Aryan woman: "Now that we've gotten rid of the niggers."

Aryan man: "Exactly. So you should stay away from crank. It's not really a recreational drug. It hurts your body and makes you sick."

Aryan woman: "Let's show these teenagers what happens to people who take crank."

Aryan man: "That's a good idea. This video clip comes from the special prison facility where crank addicts are housed. We don't try to detoxify - unaddict - them. We give them all the crank they want, until it kills them."

Aryan woman: "It usually doesn't take long. Roll the film..."

Of course, this is not news to anyone. Meth labs are all over the country and have been for several years. The speedfreaks steal anticongestants from stores and fertilizer from farmers to make the stuff and leave poisoned sites in the countryside where they operate.
It isn't news nor is the fact that it was created in Nationalist Socialist Germany or that it was used by German troops. Bush has our pilots on it now.
Your use of the word, Nazi nine times isn't news either but it's impressive. I'm impressed with what a transparent kike you are but the fact isn't news.

Many of the now so called evil drugs were invented during war time out of necessity in battle. Morphine was invented during the civil war and then it was touted as the miracle drug, because it killed pain and caused men to achieve amazing super human feats such as working for 24 hours straight.

I am sure steroids had the same beginnings as they caused a person to be stronger and heal faster and have more energy.

It is when people misuse these drugs that they become dangerous, but when used in their proper purpose they are a value to the human race.
