If anyone knows of any informative sites on survivalist or info on being more self reliant, please let me know. Or just post the links when you reply.
Maybe Kievsky and others who have dropped in with great advice can post a few helpful reminders.
Thanks.
I am getting a sinking feeling that things may not always be as they are in this world soon....

Good choices: If you haven't noticed they are all trying tosell you something, typically bulk Dehydrated food. ModernSurvival, I highly recommend, Benson is good, however some might think him wimpy. When the Mag was in print it was a monthly requirement for me. Good Choice on not picking Saxin. He is and always has been a Book seller. And a Blowhard -- hard core to some people. In case you missed it on his pages, there are 13 pages of transcript when he was called before Congressional investigation on some of his antics. But hey so maybe he destroied the movement but 60 Minutes always liked him. He was at the time the Skinhead who punched Gordo, that type of personallity the media loved, look at the crazy survivalists. Call your localcops if you see one. Many books can be gotten at used book stores, after people dropped the movement and got a "lifeA" so to speak. But the originals like the ones Saxon copied can be found too. And FM's and TM's are free on line. The gun shows are leery of them now.
PS I was one of th gentle survivalists. Ie anything more than 5 guns per family member - 5.56, .308 shotgun hunting handgun PD handgun was too much. And I concentrated on "worthless" things like books, according to some believing thatif we could only keep literacy alive, with books we could rebuild from anything, knowledge is power. And I don't know everything.

Thanks for those links Doc, including the Pax Americana novel. :)
A subject I am interested in but can't find anything about is "Survival part 2" that would teach how to build wells, houses, heating, agriculture, in other words to survive for years. Most survival literature is about direct survival until the Forest Rangers pick you up.

The survivor series by Kurt Saxon is the best I have seen. I have all 4 volumes and they are a bargain as they are combined over 1,200 pages and these are big books something like 12 inches x 9.
The premise is to take you back to living before civilization and electricity (1800’s) and in case money fails he teaches you how to use the barter system. People provide goods for services and everyone in the community can have what they want without money or civilization.
If you don't want to get those go to Lowe’s Hardware store and they should have literally hundreds of books on how to dig wells, build houses, rig up windmills ect.
I was raised on a farm so most of this is second nature for me, however if you was not raised on a farm or the like, Lowe’s is a good place for information.
But go to Kurt Saxons site get his number, (he usually answers himself) and get the survivor series, you will not regret it. The things in his book are things I have learned over the years living on a farm, but I still keep them handy as a refresher or pick up tips to use.
Here is an example of some of the things we go through.
One winter we got snowed in (we live in a valley only two roads out) and no heat, electricity, or water for 4 days in 3 feet of snow.
Barely made a hitch in out life, granted we bought a generator the very next year.
But I have heard of things like this starting riots in larger cities.
