The Russians have recently changed the name of the province to Alania (perhaps to differentiate North and South Ossetia). The Ossetians call their country Iron and speak an Iranian language. As the following genetic map shows they are very closely related to Chechens and Iranians. Iranians and Ossetians are more closely related to each other than either are to Armenians or Georgians even though they are geographically more distant to each other. Also note that Iranians, Ossetians and Chechens are not closely related to "true" Turkic (i.e. Mongoloid-Caucasoid mix) populations like the Kyrgyz and Uzbek (indeed, the Russians are much closer to those peoples). Draw your own conclusions about Aryans and Whites from that.

Appearantly, there were some 40 hostage takers who eventually came to an armed confrontation with each other between hard-line extremists and those who were ready to negotiate. That's when Russian forces rushed in. I'm sure many victims got caught in the crossfire or died as Russian forces blew holes in the school walls to let hostages out.

I think this post is right.

Iran has an alliance with Russia. The violence in Chechnya has more to do with Chechen savagery and backwardness rather than Islam itself.
