seems like protests anymore are just a way for the government to take pictures of you, scan your faces, etc.

You should vehemently protest any use of surveillance cameras on you and the protestors.

Take cameras and photograph anyone taking photographs of you.

If any of the police are wearing masks, demand they be removed.

Peaceful protests, writing letters-to-the-editor, and having tea parties isn't going to stop JOG.

As J.E. says, it's just an opportunity for JOGbots to take your picture, perhaps do a retinal scan on you, obtain a record of your ID, etc.
