SISAK, CROATIA – The unbearable heat in Sisak has taken its toll on Monday. Four elderly people died of a heat stroke in only a matter of hours.
The Sisak Emergency Medical Service told us that a 76-year-old woman died as she was waiting for a bus in a village near Sisak. An 84-year-old man collapsed and then died of a heat stroke in the centre of town.
Two other people died on the stifling streets.
Slight increase of emergency interventions in Zagreb
The Emergency Medical Service in Zagreb said there were no special interventions due to the high temperatures that have not dwindled in days.
The Service said they had only a slight increase in emergency interventions, between three and five percent, mostly in public places, with patients mostly complaining about queasiness, faintness and general weakness.
Doctors are advising combating the high temperatures with consuming a lot of fluids, light foods and especially avoiding going out in the sun between 10am and 5pm.
