I wish WN would stop using the word "ban" when refering to the crime bill of 1994. It didn't ban ANYTHING!!!! All it did was stop importation of certain semi auto rifles and subs and stop the manufacture of hi cap mags and other accessories. Anything imported and/or manufactured before 1994 was not affected. Nothing was banned.
The news media (liberal and con) use the word to make it look like there was one to give it the aura that banning guns can happen and should because it made crime less rampant.....
Please stop using the word ban.

Anyway their not really that much good anway.
Like Jeff Cooper said Gorilla war is what is coming most likely. The only time you will need an Uzi anyway is when your getting bum rushed by a bunch of niggers. Then you pull it out and use it. Otherwise the ammunition is just too heavy and will weigh you down. Not good when your going to be on the run all the time, and you will most likely run out of ammunition.

I live in Communist Kalifornia, and they are still banned here.
In fact if you just buy a gun.You have to wait 15 days to pick it up.
Heres a good one.You cannot buy bullets any 48hr period before a Holiday.

I just came from the gun store. I had called them less than an hour before and they had 40 'Glock 21' 13 round clips. I bought the last 4. I also bought 2 15 round 'Glock 22' clips for a friend. I watched two H&K semi-auto rifles (what idiots call assult rifles) sold while I was in the store.
Any one who thinks this is a yawn, is hoping and dreaming.

Question for him who knows: whence the term 'assault weapon'?
Who first used it? Who invented it?

This won’t really answer your question, but it’s what the California Senate thinks an assault weapon is. I was in the US military from 1968 until 1972 and never heard the term. It may come from Hollywood for all I know. It’s generally used to describe a nasty looking rifle that the villain shoots up the place with.

Here follows the bill, strange, they misspelled the word assault in the title. This is right from the Attorney General of the State of California. I think this covers everything including tire irons. I live in Colorado, so I can still own a tire iron.

Senate Bill 23 Assult Weapon Characteristics
Effective January 1, 2000, Senate Bill 23, Statutes of 1999, establishes new criteria for defining assault weapons based on generic characteristics. This bill allows and requires persons who own/possess firearms that fall under the new "assault weapon" definition to register those firearms with the Department of Justice during the one-year period between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2000. Effective January 1, 2000, this bill adds Penal Code Section 12276.1 to the Penal Code as follows.
12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
(3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.
(4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
(D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
(5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
(6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
(A) A folding or telescoping stock.
(B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
(8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
(b) "Assault weapon" does not include any antique firearm.
(c) The following definitions shall apply under this section:
(1) "Magazine" shall mean any ammunition feeding device.
(2) "Capacity to accept more than 10 rounds" shall mean capable of accommodating more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include a feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
(3) "Antique firearm" means any firearm manufactured prior to January 1, 1899.
(d) This section shall become operative January 1, 2000

thanks for the solid info. i am interested specifically in who put the assault in assault weapon. what separates assault weapons from other weapons, from just plain rifles? nothing, as far as i can tell. strikes me as a chipping away. parallel to the way jews split commerical speech from 1st-amendment protections, and are trying to do again with 'hate' speech.

It seems as though any thing that makes it more of a "tactical" weapon for use in confined spaces contributes towards its being dubbed an "assault weapon." For example, a regular rifle or shotgun can be shot from the hip, but some sort of forward grip would be necessary in most cases to have decent accuracy in situations where you can't solidly plant the butt of the gun against your shoulder and aim like you normally would. The same for a pistol with a forward grip.... you can hold the gun down low, close to your body and not have to extend your arms to provide proper support, and still get decent accuracy (or at least better accuracy than if you tried to do the same thing one-handedly). So pistol grips (on long guns), folding stocks, cooling shrouds, forward grips, etc. make an "assault weapon."
In short, "Assault weapon" = "suitable for use in confined spaces." That's my best explanation, just going through the list of items there, although some things still aren't explained by this hypothesis (bayonet mounts and flash suppressors for example).
Of course you're right though, the entire language of the whole "ban" was designed to get people used to a "chipping away" of our gun rights.

Yes and I think it had or has something to do with automatic. Since most of the "assault" weapons are automatic.
Why they call them "Assault" weapons who knows. Jews always come up with strange things. Maybe they figured one could "Assault" someone easier with an Atuomatic.
It's hard to tell with those kikes.

No one else has come up with an answer, so I will try to, although I do not know all the details. The German army came up with a light compact rifle about 1944 that would replace both the long rifle and submachine gun called the "sturmgewehr", the StG44, which has been translated as "assault rifle". Whether this is an accurate translation I could not say, a German speaker would have to tell us. Pic below
Sergeant, now retired General, Mikhail Kalashnikov used the same concept for his AK47, but with an extremely simple design that was easy to produce and utterly reliable.

Actually, I think that Cooper said about SMGs is that they are only useful for anti-piracy defense, where a high volume of pistol size lead laid down at close quarters is useful.
He panned on them for almost everything else including room clearing, as that requires discrimination of combattant and noncombattant and aimed fire. You notice HK makes the MP5 with a 3 round burst option.
As for the "assault rifle," meaning a select fire rifle or carbine chambering a mid range cartridge, he has suggested on many times that the select fire feature is really not a good thing and probably leads to a waste of ammunition and undisciplined fire. Notice along those lines, that the Canadians issued the FN FAL in semi auto only to their troops for a few years.

as for terminology, an "assault weapon" is any weapon used in committing the crime of assault, which could be anything from a handgun to a paperweight. so I agree that "AWB" is a typical jewing of the english language.

YEP that's what he said............It's also useful for being bum rushed by a bunch of niggers...........
Doesn't matter how you say it.
Clearing a room or the either.
He said a lot of things depends on how you precieve it I guess.
Anyway most weapons like that just aren't good for gorilla fighting. That's just the facts. They are heavy they will weigh you down and you are going to run out of ammunition.
You need something light like the Scout. Which is light and easy to carry. You could keep something like an uzi as a side arm for the need to clear a room.
Anyway, this is going way off the subject of the thread.
