Three More Contract Swine Flu In Croatia World governments are announcing a large vaccination campaign, while the Croatian Ministry does not think

The National Laboratory for Influenza of the Croatian Institute for Public Health has confirmed three new cases of the H1N1 virus on Tuesday, the official website of the Epidemiology of Infective Diseases Services announced.

This makes a total of ten confirmed swine flu cases in Croatia. The patients contracted the illness abroad (USA, Great Britain, Australia and Greece).

The first swine flu case in Croatia has been confirmed on July 3. The patient arrived in Split from Sydney on July 1, while she contacted the hospital the next day with a high temperature, a cough and a sore throat. Health Minister Darko Milinovic said that she was not treated with Tamiflu, but with tea and regular Andol pills.
There is no other information and as the spokesperson of the Croatian Health Ministry Zora Lazeta told us this morning, the Ministry will not report on individual swine flu cases on a regular basis.

- There is no need for daily announcements, all relevant information is published on the official website of the Croatian Institute for Public Health – Lazeta told us.

When asked why, Lazeta said that the Ministry announced the first confirmed case, followed by the next two, which the media covered, but the media did not react to the third announcement a few days ago.

- We are informing the World Health Organization on a regular basis and there is no need to report every day when nobody is reporting it. There is no need. The citizens know that the new flu is in Croatia, the Epidemiology Services are doing their job – she pointed out.

Although the Croatian Health Ministry points out there is no room for panic, ten persons have died in Great Britain. The latest sufferers include a six-year-old girl, who was absolutely healthy before encountering the vicious virus. At the moment, 10,000 Britons have contracted the swine flu, while the actual number is suspected to be a few hundred thousand.

The most common symptoms of the A type flu virus (H1N1), according to the Epidemiology services, are a high temperature, respiratory difficulties like coughing or a running nose, pain, especially muscle pain, headache, fever, fatigue, vomiting or diarrhoea. In case you develop an illness similar to the flu, contact the nearest hospital.
