The FOMC will announce the Federal Funds Rate in about 20 minutes. It usually takes me about 10 minutes after that to find the rate.

The rate is now 0.0 to .025 percent. The consensus is that this will not change. As of now, the financial news today is pretty boring. The dollar is down a little. Oil is piddling around the 70 to 73 dollars is has been for a few days, gold and silver are up somewhat, the DJIA is up just over 100 points. All pretty boring.

If the consensus holds, and the rate is unchanged, nothing much will happen. If there is a surprise, even a small change, there could be a strong reaction. In 20 minutes, we'll see. If there is to be a reaction, it will precede the announcement. Gee! You'd think that some folks get the word a little early. But, that would be cheating, and we know that can't be true.

Only took four minutes. No change. Still 0.0 to 0.25.

Not much going on. The dollar is moving up now, but not much.

We're about five minutes away from the FOMC announcement. The market seems to be largely ignoring it. Consensus is there will be no change; the rate will stay 0.0 to 0.25. Any change should set off fireworks, but I doubt the rate will change.

This FOMC meeting announcement caught me by surprise. I wasn't expecting a FOMC meeting until October.

As expected...no change.

Late edit: There is some reaction, though. The Dollar, which for a day or so had been fiddly-fucking sideways is spiking down. Pretty damn impressive. Guess, I'll never see Europe again.
