Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 17, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Few people in this world know as comprehensively as Richard Curtiss of the Washington Review of Middle East Affairs does what is wrong with America's fawning adoration of that bandit statelet Israel. The Washington Review of Middle East Affairs, [ http://www.washington-report.org/ ] which he heads, is a glossy, high-brow publication that is immensely informative and enriching to read. Curtiss has contributed immeasurably to the prestige and respect this magazine has managed to accrue, and I always look forward to reading his incisive editorials. But guess what? This fine mind and astute journalist can't bring himself to go near Holocaust Revisionism - the one weapon with which to defeat that monstrous Lobby which has the U.S. in its stranglehold! No way! It might be catching! Not that we haven't tried to make Mr. Curtiss appreciate the irony. Many, many of us have tried - but it has always been like punching in a feather pillow. No matter. As before, I say that if someone goes three-quarters of the way - that is something we in the intellectual forefront value. We will supply the rest - and deliver the "knock-out punch" once we gain that universal platform for debate. The Richard Curtiss article below will come to you in two parts. It is appropriately titled "The Cost of Israel to the American People": [START] By now many Americans are aware that Israel, with a population of only 5.8 million people, is the largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid, and that Israel's aid plus U.S. aid to Egypt's 65 million people for keeping the peace with Israel has, for many years, consumed more than half of the U.S. bi-lateral foreign aid budget world-wide. What few Americans understand however, is the steep price they pay in many other fields for the U.S.-Israeli relationship, which in turn is a product of the influence of Israel's powerful U.S. lobby on American domestic politics and has nothing to do with U.S. strategic interests, U.S. national interests, or even with traditional American support for self-determination, human rights, and fair play overseas. Besides its financial cost, unwavering U.S. support for Israel, whether it's right or wrong, exacts a huge price in American prestige and credibility overseas. Further, Israel's powerful U.S. lobby has been a major factor in delaying campaign finance reform, and also in the removal from American political life of some of our most distinguished public servants, members of Congress and even presidents. Finally, the Israel-U.S. relationship has cost a significant number of American lives. The incidents in which hundreds of U.S. service personnel, diplomats, and civilians have been killed in the Middle East have been reported in the media. But the media seldom revisits these events, and scrupulously avoids analyzing why they occurred or compiling the cumulative toll of American deaths resulting from our Israel-centered Middle East policies. Each of these four categories of the costs of Israel to the American people merits a talk of its own. What follows, therefore, is just an overview of such losses. First is the financial cost of Israel to U.S. taxpayers. Between 1949 and 1998, the U.S. gave to Israel, with a self-declared population of 5.8 million people, more foreign aid than it gave to all of the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, all of the countries of Latin America, and all of the countries of the Caribbean combined - with a total population of 1,054,000,000 people. In the 1997 fiscal year, for example, Israel received $3 billion from the foreign aid budget, at least $525 million from other U.S. budgets, and $2 billion in federal loan guarantees. So the 1997 total of U.S. grants and loan guarantees to Israel was $5.5 billion. That's $15,068,493 per day, 365 days a year. If you add its foreign aid grants and loans, plus the approximate totals of grants to Israel from other parts of the U.S. federal budget, Israel has received since 1949 a grand total of $84.8 billion, excluding the $10 billion in U.S. government loan guarantees it has drawn to date. And if you calculate what the U.S. has had to pay in interest to borrow this money to give to Israel, the cost of Israel to U.S. taxpayers rises to $134.8 billion, not adjusted for inflation. Put another way, the nearly $14,630 every one of 5.8 million Israelis had received from the U.S. government by October 31, 1997, cost American taxpayers $23,241 per Israeli. That's $116,205 for every Israeli family of five. None of these figures include the private donations by Americans to Israeli charities, which initially constituted about one quarter of Israel's budget, and today approach $1 billion annually. In addition to the negative effect of these donations on the U.S. balance of payments, the donors also deduct them from their U.S. income taxes, creating another large drain on the U.S. treasury. Nor do the figures above include any of the indirect financial costs of Israel to the United States, which cannot be tallied. One example is the cost to U.S. manufacturers of the Arab boycott, surely in the billions of dollars by now. Another example is the cost to U.S. consumers of the price of petroleum, which surged to such heights that it set off a world-wide recession during the Arab oil boycott imposed in reaction to U.S. support of Israel in the 1973 war. Other examples are a portion of the costs of maintaining large U.S. Sixth Fleet naval forces in the Mediterranean, primarily to protect Israel, and military air units at the Aviano base in Italy, not to mention the staggering costs of frequent deployments to the Arabian Peninsula and Gulf area of land and air forces from the United States and naval units from the Seventh Fleet, which normally operates in the Pacific Ocean. Many years ago the late Undersecretary of State George Ball estimated the true financial cost of Israel to the United States at $11 billion a year. Since then direct U.S. foreign aid to Israel has nearly doubled, and simply adjusting that original figure into 1998 dollars would send it considerably higher today. Next comes the cost of Israel to the international prestige and credibility of the United States. Americans seem constantly astounded at our foreign policy failures in the Middle East. This stems from a profound ignorance of the background of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute, which in turn results from a reluctance by the mainstream U.S. media to present these facts objectively. Toward the end of the 19th century when political Zionism was created in Europe, Jews were a tiny fraction of the population of the Holy Land, much of which was heavily cultivated and thickly populated, and certainly not a desert waiting to be reclaimed by outsiders. Even in 1947, after half a century of Zionist immigration and an influx of Jewish refugees from Hitler, Jews still constituted only one third of the population of the British Mandate of Palestine. Only seven percent of the land was Jewish-owned. Yet when the United Nations partitioned Palestine in that year, the Jewish state-to-be received 53 percent and the Arab state-to-be received only 47 percent of the land. Jerusalem was to remain separate under international supervision, a "corpus seperatum" in the words of the United Nations. One of the myths that many Americans still believe is that the initial war between the Arabs and Israelis broke out on May 15, 1948 when the British withdrew and military units from Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Syria entered Palestine, allegedly because the Arabs had rejected a partition plan that the Israelis accepted. In fact, the fighting began almost six months earlier, immediately after the partition plan was announced. By the time the Arab armies intervened in May, some 400,000 Palestinians already had fled or been driven from their homes. To the Arab nations the military forces they sent to Palestine were on a rescue mission to halt the dispossession of Palestinians from the areas the U.N. had awarded to both the Jewish and the Palestinian Arab state. In fact history has revealed that the Jordanian forces had orders not to venture into areas the U.N. had awarded to Israel. Although the newly created Israeli government didn't formally reject the partition plan, in practice it never accepted the plan. To this day, half a century later, Israel still refuses to define its borders. In fact, when the fighting of 1947 and 1948 ended, the State of Israel occupied half of Jerusalem and 78 percent of the former mandate of Palestine. About 750,000 Muslim and Christian Palestinians had been driven from towns, villages and homes to which the Israeli forces never allowed them to return. The four wars that followed, three of them started by Israel in 1956, 1967, and 1982, and one of them started by Egypt and Syria to recover their occupied lands in 1973, have been over the portions of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt which the Israelis occupied militarily in those wars, the other half of Jerusalem, and the 22 percent of Palestine - comprising the West Bank and Gaza - which is all that remains for the Palestinians. It is the unwillingness of successive U.S. governments to acknowledge these historical facts, and adjust U.S. Middle East policies to right these wrongs, that has resulted in such a devastating loss of international credibility. Americans, who once were identified with the modern schools, universities and hospitals they had established throughout the Middle East starting more than 150 years ago, now are identified with U.S. misuse of its veto in the United Nations to condone Israeli violations of the human rights of the Palestinians living in the lands Israel has seized by force. The Israeli occupation violates the preface to the United Nations Charter banning the acquisition of territory by war. What the Israeli government has been doing in the occupied territories also violates the Fourth Geneva convention, which forbids the transfer of populations to or from such areas. Governments of Middle Eastern countries which once looked to the United States as their protectors from European colonialism, now find it very difficult to justify maintaining cordial relations with the United States at all. Friendly Arab governments are jeopardized by their U.S. alliances, and the fall of one, the Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq, was directly attributable to its premature withdrawal of its armed forces from Palestine during the 1948 fighting, and its subsequent membership in a military alliance with the U.S. and Britain. Even our European and Asian allies have joined in deploring the perpetual American tilt toward Israel. In a recent vote on a U.N. General Assembly resolution calling upon Israel to curb further encroachments on Palestinian lands by Jewish settlers, only the United States and Micronesia voted with Israel. Of the 185 U.N. member nations, all of the others, without exception, voted against Israel or abstained. Yet Americans seem oblivious to such examples of how their Israel-centered Middle East policies are isolating the United States in the world. [END] Tomorrow: Conclusion of "The Cost of Israel to the American People" ===== Thought for the Day: "The people never give up their liberty but under some delusion." (Edmund Burke) From irimland@zundelsite.org Wed, 18 Jul 2001 08:43:42 -0700 Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2001 08:43:42 -0700 From: Ingrid Rimland irimland@zundelsite.org Subject: ZGram - 7/18/2001 - "The Cost of Israel to the American People" - Part II Copyright (c) 2001 - Ingrid A. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 18, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Here is Part II of the absolutely brilliant artice by Richard Curtiss on "The Cost of Israel to the American People". Read and reflect: [START] Next is the cost of Israel to the American domestic political system. In December 1997, Fortune magazine asked professional lobbyists to select the most powerful special interest group in the United States. They chose the American Association of Retired Persons, which lobbies on behalf of all Americans over 60. In second place, however, was the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Israel's official Washington, D.C. lobby, with a $15 million budget - the sources of which AIPAC refuses to disclose - and 150 employees. AIPAC, in turn, can draw upon the resources of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, a roof group set up to coordinate the efforts on behalf of Israel of some 52 national Jewish organizations. Among those organizations are groups such as B'nai B'rith's Anti-Defamation League (ADL), with a $45 million budget, and Hadassah, the Zionist women's group, which spends more than AIPAC and sends thousands of Americans every year to Israel on Israeli government-supervised visits. Both AIPAC and the ADL maintain secret "opposition research" departments which compile files on politicians, journalists, academics and organizations, and circulate this information through local Jewish community councils to pro-Israel groups and activists in order to damage the reputations of those who dare to speak out and thus have been blackballed as "enemies of Israel." In the case of ADL, police raids on the organization's Los Angeles and San Francisco offices established that much of the information they had compiled was erroneous, and thus slanderous, and some also was illegally obtained. In the case of AIPAC, this is not the organization's most controversial activity. In the 1970s members of AIPAC's national board of directors set out to form deceptively named local political action committees (PACs) which could coordinate their efforts in supporting candidates in federal elections. To date, at least 126 pro-Israel PACs have been registered, and no fewer than 50 PACs, like AIPAC, can give a candidate who is facing a tough opponent and who has voted according to AIPAC recommendations up to half a million dollars. That's enough money to buy all the television time needed to get elected in most parts of the country. What is totally unique about AIPAC's network of political action committees is that they all have deceptive names. Who could possibly know that the Delaware Valley PAC in Philadelphia, San Franciscans for Good Government in California, Cactus PAC in Arizona, Chili PAC in New Mexico, Beaver PAC in Wisconsin and even Ice PAC in New York are really pro-Israel PACs. So just as no other special interest can put so much hard money into any candidate's election campaign as can the Israel lobby, no other special interest has gone to such elaborate lengths to hide its tracks. Some of America's wisest and most distinguished public servants have been kept from higher office by the blackballing of the Israel lobby. One such leader was George Ball, who served the Kennedy administration as Under Secretary of State and the Johnson administration as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Given his unmatched brilliance in forecasting international developments, there is no doubt that he would have become secretary of state had he not publicly expressed the skepticism about the U.S. relationship with Israel which most Americans involved in foreign affairs privately feel. In membership meetings which journalists are not allowed to attend, AIPAC presidents have boasted that the organization was responsible for the defeats of two of history's most distinguished chairmen of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee - Democrat J. William Fulbright of Arkansas and Republican Charles Percy of Illinois. The list of other Senators and House members for whose election defeats AIPAC takes credit is too long to recount. There is good evidence also that had it not been for complex maneuvers by the Israel lobby, including encouragement of third party candidates and unrelenting partisanship by pro-Israeli syndicated columnists and other media figures, Democratic President Jimmy Carter probably would have been reelected in 1980, and Republican President George Bush almost certainly would have been reelected in 1992. The cost to our political system of losing national figures who refused to allow U.S. domestic political interests to dictate U.S. foreign policy has been enormous. So long as AIPAC and other powerful lobbies continue to thwart meaningful efforts on behalf of campaign finance reform, Americans will continue unknowingly paying such costs. Finally, there is the cost of Israel in American lives. References to the attack by Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats on the USS Liberty in which 34 Americans were killed and 171 wounded on the fourth day of the Six-Day War of June 1967 often are met by disbelief. Very few Americans seem to have heard of the attack on the ship operated by the U.S. Navy for the National Security Agency to monitor Israel and Arab military communications during the fighting. The Israeli government claimed it was a case of mistaken identity. The members of the crew and other naval officers who were stationed in the Mediterranean and in Washington at the time state that it was a deliberate attempt to sink the ship and blame Egyptian forces for the disaster. It is the only such event in U.S. Naval history the cause of which has never been formally investigated either by Congress or by the Navy itself. Major losses of American lives at the hands of Arab forces opposing Israel are better known. These include the loss of 141 U.S. service personnel in the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut in 1984. They also include the loss of several U.S. diplomats and local employees of the U.S. government in two bombings of the American Embassy in Beirut. Other such events include the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, the taking of U.S. hostages in Beirut of whom three were killed, the deaths of Americans in a series of Middle East related skyjackings, the deaths of 19 U.S. service personnel in the bombing of the Al Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, and the 1997 assassination of four U.S. accountants working for an American company in Karachi. All of these incidents, and many more in which Americans have died, resulted directly from one-sided U.S. support for Israel in its refusal to participate in the land-for-peace settlement with the Palestinians and its other Arab neighbors envisioned in U.N. Security Council Resolution 242. The U.S. has given lip service to that resolution since November 1967. But in practice the U.S. has done nothing to force Israel to comply, even though the resolution has been accepted by the members of the League of Arab States. That U.S. hypocrisy fuels rage and frustration throughout the Middle East and South Asia which will continue to take a toll of American lives until Israel finally gives back the lands it occupied in 1967, or the U.S. stops subsidizing Israeli intransigence. Claims that there are positive aspects of the U.S.-Israeli relationship seldom stand up to scrutiny. During the Reagan administration it was labeled for the first time a "strategic relationship" conferring benefits on the U.S. as well as on Israel. The idea that Israel - smaller in both area and population than Hong Kong - can offer the United States benefits sufficient to offset the hostility that relationship arouses among 250 million Arabs living in a 4,000-mile strategic swath of territory stretching from Morocco to Oman is ludicrous. It becomes even more ludicrous when one realizes that the relationship also has alienated another 750 million Muslims who, together with the Arabs, control more than 60 percent of the world's proven oil and gas reserves. Apologists for Israel also describe the U.S.-Israeli cooperation in weapons development. The fact is that the one or two successful joint weapons programs have been largely U.S. financed, while for their part the Israelis have repeatedly sold to rogue nations U.S. weapons turned over at no cost to Israel. It is a sad but proven fact that the Israeli government also has obtained secret U.S. military technology which Israel has sold to other countries. For example, after the U.S. sent Patriot missile defense batteries on an emergency basis to help defend Israel during the Gulf War, the Israelis seem to have sold the Patriot missile technology to China, according to the U.S. State Department's inspector general. As a result, the U.S. has been forced to develop a whole new generation of missile technology able to penetrate the defenses China has developed as a result of the Israeli treachery. Perhaps the most hypocritical rationalization offered by friends of Israel is that U.S. special treatment is justified because Israel is "the Middle East's only working democracy" and that Israel and the U.S. have many basic institutions in common. In fact, Israeli democracy does not work for non-Jews. In contrast to the United States, where by law all citizens have equal rights regardless of religion or ethnic origin, Muslim and Christian citizens of Israel do not have equal rights with regards to military service, the extensive social benefits available to veterans of Israeli military service, or even in terms of Israeli tax rates imposed on Arab citizens and Israeli government expenditures in Arab communities within Israel. Further, Israeli citizenship is not available to the Muslim and Christian Palestinians driven from their homes in Israel in 1948, nor to their descendants. But a Jew, born anywhere in the world, can have Israeli citizenship for the asking. Perhaps most shocking is the little-known fact that by now 90 percent of the land in Israel proper is held under restrictive covenants barring non-Jews, even those with Israeli citizenship, from owning the land or from earning a living on it. Unfortunately, the land held under such covenants is increasing, not decreasing. It would be difficult, therefore, to find two countries more profoundly different in their approaches to basic questions of citizenship and civil and human rights as are the United States and Israel. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 19, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Here is one heck of a column by well-known conservative columnist, Charley Reese. Subject: "Palestinians can absorb whatever Israel hurls at them," published in the Orlando Orlando Sentinel | July 13, 2001 [START] The Israelis bulldozed another 14 Palestinian homes this week in a refugee camp in Gaza. The United States said the act was "provocative." Actually, it was a war crime. Actually, what the Israelis have been doing to the Palestinians has been correctly characterized by the International Red Cross as war crimes and by a United Nations official as "an affront to civilization." But, hey, you misled, sleeping Americans, you don't know what a breakthrough it is for the U.S. State Department to utter even the mildest criticism of some Israeli atrocity. "Provocative." Wow. Golly gee whiz. Old George W. Bush promised he would provide leadership, and that's real leadership, calling a war crime "provocative." Finally, after eight months of refusing to utter even that bland a criticism, he managed to say the destruction of homes so precious to such terribly poor people is "provocative." It is such an improvement over Warren Christopher. When he was secretary of state, the Israelis were indulging in one of their periodic and gratuitous artillery attacks against villages in South Lebanon. A group of about 100 Lebanese women and children fled to a United Nations compound for safety. It didn't matter. The Israelis fired on it deliberately, as a subsequent U.N. investigation demonstrated. They were all killed, along with the U.N. peacekeepers. Bits and pieces of their flesh hung like grotesque decorations, dripping blood from shattered debris and blasted trees. Do you know what Christopher said? "The United States urges both sides to show restraint." I wonder how he expected the shattered flesh of the dead Lebanese women and children to show restraint. Perhaps he thought that they should not bleed so profusely from their wounds. I think that was the very first time I felt ashamed to be an American, listening to that rat-faced, cold-blooded international lawyer brushing off an atrocity like a crumb on his expensive coat sleeve. One day, Americans are going to wake up from more than 50 years of Zionist propaganda and suddenly feel like strangers in a strange land, to borrow the title of an old science-fiction work. They're finally going to see the simple truth: Israelis drove Palestinians out of their own country and confiscated their land and wealth. Israelis refused to allow (and still refuse) Palestinian refugees to return, despite United Nations resolutions instructing them to do so. In 1967, the Israelis attacked and took the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. Since then, they have ruled it and still rule, despite U.N. resolutions against their actions. Now, after dragging out so-called peace negotiations for 10 years - how can the simple question, "When are you going to withdraw from the territories you illegally occupy?" take 10 years? - the drama is heading toward a climax. The Israelis have tried economic strangulation. They have tried to force the Palestinians to accept a chopped-up pseudo-country. They have tried killing their children, demolishing their homes and assassinating their leaders. They tried uprooting their agricultural orchards and sealing the Palestinians off from normal travel. By the way, where are you environmentalists while the Israelis commit this environmental atrocity? Don't you know how long it takes for an olive tree to reach maturity and start bearing fruit? I thought you were concerned about the environment. Oh, excuse me - not when it's a Palestinian environment. My mistake. I sometimes forget who is a hypocrite and who isn't, because there are so many these days. What's next, of course, is for the Israelis to take off the bloody glove and commit one super massacre in an attempt to drive the Palestinians out or to break their spirit. This is what the Palestinians expect. They are bracing for it. They know that the Israelis have elected the one politician, Ariel Sharon, willing to do it. They figure they can absorb that blow. If the survivors can rise from the rubble and say to the Israelis, "You can bury us here, but you can never drive us out of our own country," then the Israelis will have exhausted their options. They will dump Sharon and replace him with somebody who will finally, at long last, do some serious talking. It's already terrible what the Palestinians are going through, and this new assault, when it comes, will be far worse. They need the support now of decent people with the courage to stand up for human rights. As you can see, the Bush administration prefers to remain on its knees. Most members of Congress are afraid even to do that. They prefer the supine position, total prostration. If you can't find the courage to speak out against evil financed with your tax money, then at least watch as Palestinian children show you how real men and women live and die with honor. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 20, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Two items today of interest to the open Revisionist community and closeted Revisionist aficionados. Bad news and good news! Bad news up front: To no one's great surprise, the British judicial system has rubberstamped its subordination to the Holocaust Lobby and denied David Irving his appeal to challenge the shrill ruling of Judge Gray, affirming that the controversial historian does indeed merit vicious and defamatory name-calling coming from the likes of Deborah Lipstadt. To quote the Guardian of today: [START] Controversial historian David Irving today faces possible bankruptcy proceedings after losing his appeal against a high court libel ruling which branded him a "Holocaust denier". The court of appeal in London upheld last year's judgement against Mr Irving, saying that American academic Deborah Lipstadt had been within her rights to accuse him of denying the Holocaust. (...) Giving his judgment in the libel case 15 months ago, Mr Justice Gray said that 63-year-old Mr Irving had, for his own ideological reasons, deliberately misrepresented historical evidence and portrayed Hitler in an unwarranted favourable light. In the 333-page judgement, he described Mr Irving as a Holocaust denier, falsifier of history, a racist and an anti-Semite. (...) Giving judgement today, Lord Justice Pill said that Mr Gray was "fully entitled" to find that Prof Lipstadt and Penguin were not guilty of libel." [END] David Irving, naturally expecting this judgment, showed his contempt for this judicial miscarriage of justice by simply staying away from the court house. He said he was too busy promoting his newest book on Winston Churchill, eagerly awaited by his many fans. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D The second item is much more cheerful - in fact, so funny and so out of character of our opposition that we are all left speechless but with grins from ear to ear. Remember if you will, please, that in practically all European countries, and certainly in Germany, you cannot breathe a word of what would be described as "Holocaust denial." You'd be as cooked as your proberbial hot dog. Let's say that you felt obstinate. Let's say that you stood on a corner in Berlin, and you muttered defiantly under your breath: "The Holocaust never happened!" A bystander heard you utter such heresy, ran to the cops, unloaded what he overheard - and chances are that fines and even jail would be your fate. Up to five years, that is! Now savor this excerpt from a Reuters release of July 17, 2001: [START] "The Holocaust never happened" is the controversial slogan that will be plastered on billboards across Germany this week as part of a fundraising campaign for a Berlin memorial to Jewish victims of the Nazis. The slogan, which appears over a picture of a serene mountain lake and snow-capped mountain, is intended to "shake up the indifferent and motivate the hesitant," the foundation organizing the campaign said on Tuesday. (...) A much smaller text underneath the statement reveals the campaign's real message: "There are still many people who make this claim. In 20 years there could be even more. Make a donation to the memorial for the murdered Jews of Europe." Please go to http://news.excite.com/photo/img/ap/germany/holocaust/memorial/20010717/ber1= 10?r =3D/photo/ap/010717/16/germany-holocaust-memorial and take a long, hard look= ! Is that ad going to do what it was meant to do - "More Guilt, More Geld" - or it is going to cause your average German to stop dead in his tracks and start grinning with glee? Have our enemies lost all their marbles? This goofy ad idea is the brainchild of one Lea Rosh, a media star of sorts, who hopes to reap some $2.18 million in donations for yet another Holocaust Memorial. Who's Lea Rosh, you ask? Here David Irving has an answer, titled "The Lowdown on Lea": [START' "LEA Rosh is the girl friend of the singulary unlovely professor Eberhard J=E4ckel, former head of the history department at Stuttgart University, who was unmasked together with her for using fake photographs to illustrate a Holocaust documentary on German television, Der Tod, ein Meister aus Deutschland. (Which makes J=E4ckel a "Meister-Nestbeschmutzer" aus Deutschland) [Zundelsite translation: "A master nest-befouler of Germany"] Lea is not of course her real name, nor is she Jewish. She was born Edith, but sensing that it would assist her career in the German television industry if the cringing administrators of that industry thought she was Jewish, she changed her first name to Lea. She consequently rocketed to fame and fortune as chief of Norddeutscher Rundfunk, one of the biggest television networks in Europe." [END] So there you have it, and that is how it's done. You change your name to Sarah or David, whatever your gender may be, you tack a plea for sheckels unto a poster ad - and you, too, can become a Holocaust Denier. Bingo! I had sent the URL of this incredibly black-humor poster to Dr. Faurisson in France, who promptly felt inspired to suggest possibilities for Revisionist poster expansion: [START] There Never Was any Holocaust, by Robert Faurisson, 19 July The photograph of an idyllic German landscape is set to be exhibited from today in the form of a huge poster in the centre of Berlin and all throughout Germany; postcards bearing the same image will be distributed in quantity free of charge. Superimposed in large letters on the landscape is the sentence: den holocaust hat es nie gegeben =1D ( There never was a holocaust =1D) and, in smaller print, a text reading: "There are still many people who make this claim. In 20 years there will be even more. Make a donation for the memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe."=20 There follow instructions as to how to make a contribution. The campaign's organisers, amongst whom Lea Rosh, acknowledge its provocative character. In Germany, in Austria, and in a good number of other countries in the world, anyone who disputes the "Holocaust" =1D story, or who merely calls it into question, is liable to a long prison term, fines, a professional ban, and still other punishments. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 21, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: I consider Israel Shamir, a Russian-born Jew, one of the finest journalists that walk this planet in our times. In my mind, he takes on more and more of the features of that gentle, well-read man, Israel Shahak, who recently passed away but left an intellectual legacy that will enrich the future. However, I want a good thing to be perfect, naturally - and so I have been after him to please give us - meaning Revisionists - a fair shake and a break. Here is a man of substance and of influence, and surely he must know, as lesser men don't know...etc. etc. Of course I knew the answer before I even asked. His surface answer was that he was not that interested in what really happened, World-War-II-wise; his concern was focused on the here-and-now. A deeper answer is embedded in this essay I offer for your thoughts. Israel Shamir is an Israeli journalist based in Jaffa. His articles appear on his site http://www.israelshamir.com/ or write to <shamiri_@netvision.net.il All his articles are in public domain and can be distributed freely, but hard copy publications must ask for a permission. Here is his essay, with a preface: [START] Dear friends, I had the honour to be invited to speak in the high international forum of UNESCO in Paris on the question of the media's coverage of the Israeli/Palestine conflict. It was an interesting gathering of upper-middle level politicians and journalists. The key speaker was UN Coordinator for the Middle East, the suave Scandinavian Terje Roed-Larsen. His idea was gradualism, back to Oslo, step-by-step and shwaye-shwaye. One felt he learned well the terrible lesson of his predecessor Count Folke Bernadotte, who was assassinated on orders of the Israeli Prime Minister and my namesake, Yitzhak Shamir. Bernadotte was rash enough to think he could tell Jews what to do. Terje Larsen was very diplomatic, very pro-peace process, now and for ever. After all, he does not have to stay in the Khan Yunis refugee camp to wait for gradualism to bring fruit from a barren tree. The Palestinian National Authority was represented by that eloquent teddy-bear, the round-faced Nabil Shaath and the witty and dignified elder ambassador Nasser al Kidwa. Nabil Shaath provided the journalists with a much needed headline, when he said that in Taba they almost made peace. My headline would be "A miss is as good as a mile". The invited Palestinian journalists were prevented by Israeli authorities from going to the conference, while Israeli ones promised to come but failed to appear. There was a loud-mouthed French Jew in the audience, who claimed to represent an Israeli paper. He even tried to speak Hebrew to me, but his Sunday school lessons were not up to it. Anyway, he denounced me as a communist, and thus unfit to speak in such distinguished company. Israel sent two ex-ministers, a youthful and good-looking devotee of Barak, Professor Yuli Tamir of Peace Now, and General Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, the ex-Chief of Staff for the IDF and a one-time candidate for Prime minister from the now defunct Centre Party. Yuli Tamir spoke of Barak"s largesse in Camp David, and of importance to keep "the Jewish character of the Jewish state". One wanted to ask "What about the importance of keeping the Aryan character of the Aryan state?" In the mind of an average Jew, these two men probably exemplify the Israeli Left. This alone speaks volumes about Israel. If that is Israel's "Left", you can imagine the Israeli Right. The late lamented Israel Shahak used to say that the Israeli Left is worse than the Israeli Right. These two ex-ministers, taken as a sample, served to remind us of Shahak's maxim. Of the ladies and gentlemen of the press who attended the conference, I must mention the incredibly tall and pleasant Scot, Sir Ian Gilmour, the British ex-Minister of Defence and a media personality, one time owner of The Spectator, a exuberant and feisty magazine that fell into evil clutches of Conrad Black. And the dynamic Phyllis Bennis of Washington IPS called for Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories. I think I heard this notion before, but she was very convincing anyway. It was an important occasion, made possible thanks to the Palestinian organizer of the conference, Dr Saleem Fahmawi, a man who grew in a refugee camp, made it all the way to the UN, but never forgot the village of his ancestors. There was also a chance to meet some friends of Palestine. Some hundred of them gathered at night to hear my call for the new strategy, i.e. "one man - one vote" solution. It was a heated discussion, with many young people present, and I left comforted by the general response. The following is the gist of my speech at the UNESCO conference on Getting the Facts Right. UP TO A POINT The media world was well described in the brilliant novel by Evelyn Waugh, The Scoop. Though the main plot of the book unfolds in Africa, the relevant scene takes place on Fleet Street, at the office of the Daily Beast owner, lord Copper. The media baron asked his foreign editor from time to time, is Yokohama the capital of Japan? Or Does Hong Kong belongs to us? The editor had two 'safe' answers. When lord Copper was right, he said, Definitely, lord Copper. When he was wrong, he said, Up to a point, lord Copper. That is the fork, from definitely to up to a point, of the permissible borders of mainstream media discourse. We journalists are dependent creatures. We would like to be honest and sincere, but we have to think of our mortgages, and of our vocation. If we step over the borders established by the media owners, we would have to look for a different occupation altogether. Speaking of Palestine, the borders are quite narrow. I would say they run parallel to the borders of internal Jewish Israeli mainstream discourse, from Meretz to Sharon. If we compare it with pre-Mandela South Africa, it is similar to the White mainstream discourse, from Nationalist to Progressive, not including ANC. In my view, this discourse is exclusivist, even supremacist. It is based on sustaining Jewish supremacy in Palestine. It does not offer equality or even a safe future to the local inhabitants. But that is all you are allowed to say. You may support the creation of Palestinian reservations which puts you firmly in the Israeli "liberal" camp, or you can back mass expulsion and ethnic cleansing, and you will be called a hardliner or a hawk. These are the firm borders of the discourse. Whoever crosses the borders, and speaks for equality of a Jew and Gentile in the Holy Land, finds himself in the wilderness. His voice will be silenced, maybe for good. I know this first hand. I live in Jaffa, a town with a mixed population. There are Palestinians, Moroccans, Israeli Ashkenazi Jews, Russians, and we all live together rather harmoniously. But a lot of people who were born in Jaffa live in refugee camps and they are forbidden to return just because of their religion or ethnicity. I find it morally impossible, that a Jew from New York, Paris or Novosibirsk, like me, can come and live in Jaffa, while a local man, born in Jaffa, may not come back home. I called for the return of the Palestinian refugees and immediately lost my job with Haaretz. That is the most liberal Israeli newspaper. The case of Palestine coverage in the media is special for one reason. We have a peculiar vocabulary, developed for the local coverage. If I kill Ahmad, it would be reported that "Ahmad was killed by an Israeli". But if, God forbid, Ahmad would kill me, you would learn that "a Jew was murdered". As in Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde, an Israeli may kill; but if an Israeli is killed, he turns into a Jew. It is absolutely forbidden to speak about Jewish atrocities and murders. The Jews are forever victims. It often appears we have three nations in Palestine: Jews, Israelis and Palestinians. Israelis may commit crimes, but it is innocent - always innocent - Jews that are murdered. If you confuse these two words, and refer to a murderer as "a Jew", you will be called an anti-Semite, and probably you will lose your job. It should not be too complicated to cover our story. It is not even as complicated as other places of world concern. The right of national self-determination inclusive of autonomy or independence isn"t an easy right to realize, as Corsicans can tell you. Palestine should be easier to cover: it is not the question of national self determination, but of basic human rights. Kosovo? In Kosovo, Albanians were discriminated against and tormented by Serb authorities, but they always had the technical right to vote and the Yugoslav government never withdrew their citizenship. They were distant second-class citizens, but still citizens. Kurds in Turkey? They also can vote. The coverage of Palestine should be easier, but it is not. A journalist may write and speak about marginal problems, like the Jewish settlers beyond the Green Line. But the basic power structure of Jewish dominance in Palestine may not be questioned. We may not say that the Palestinians have no right to vote; no right to move to other parts of their country and no right to return to their homes in the only country they have ever known. In my opinion, the source of the media bias in covering the Palestinians is tremendously important. For it speaks volumes about the power structure of the US and Europe. It gives us unique feedback from the obscure world of media lords. And, it goes without saying, that 'establishment' journalists are not given much leeway on reporting on this valuable feedback. They are always too busy writing "definitely". The reason is obvious. Too many of our media lords subscribe to the notion of Jewish supremacy, and they are spread around the globe. In England, there is Conrad Black, he actually owns many papers in Canada, the US, and in Israel. In our country, he owns The Jerusalem Post. When he bought this paper, he dismissed the staff and hired people of his opinions. He is a right wing Zionist, a zealous supporter of Jewish supremacy. In the US, there are too many of them to count. But allow us to mention Mortimer Zuckerman, a media lord and the current Head of the Presidents" Conference of American Jewish Organizations, the big daddy of all Jewish groups in America. He is one of the richest men in America, he made his fortune speculating in real estate and owns the third largest 'serious' American weekly magazine, US News and World Report. He also owns the popular plebeian tabloid, The Daily News, a major circulation in the New York and New Jersey market. His newspapers generally advocate the brutal rule of market forces. With one exception; they call for generous annual subsidy of Israel by American tax payers. Two ex-Prime Ministers of Israel, Netanyahu of the war-mongering Likud and Barak of the slightly less hawkish Labour party supported Zuckerman in his quest for the leadership of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. This side of the Ku Klux Klan, this association of 52 heads of American Jewish organizations is the most bigoted body of men in American politics. Haaretz recently reported, that Mortimer Zuckerman had dismissed his shiksa wife, in order to get this coveted chair. As long as he stayed married to a non-Jewish woman, his colleagues, Jewish billionaires, would not trust him. And he is one of the most influential publishers in the US. On the other end of the planet, in Russia, the TV stations and newspapers also are under the ownership of Israeli citizens. One of them, Vladimir Gusinsky, was forced to part with his TV station. But his extremely pro-Israeli staff was quickly hired by another channel, belonging to another Israeli citizen, Mr Chernoi. In 1985, he was an accountant living on a salary of 100 dollars a month. Today he is worth 5 billion dollars, owns virtually all the aluminium plants in Russia, and lives in a nice suburb of Tel Aviv. Currently, he is under investigation for 34 murders, money laundering and membership in the Russian mafia. In a recent quip, he was quoted as saying that "the media is not business. the media is politics and influence". He uses his media empire to stifle all criticism of Israel in Russia. I spoke recently to a young Russian military attach=C8 in one of the Wester= n capitals. He told me: your Israeli situation is similar to ours, but we have Chechnya a thousand miles away, while you have it next door. I asked him: do you want to say that Chechens have no right of vote? He was amazed. He did not know that the Palestinians have no right to vote. The media of Gusinsky, Chernoi, and Berezovsky, that is three powerful media lords, all of them Israeli citizens, took care to cultivate his ignorance. Even in Sweden, traditionally supportive of the Palestinian cause, since the national newspapers were bought by Jewish entrepreneurs, the coverage of Palestine became more and more lopsided. I do not know whether the new owners had to ask for it explicitly, or their chief editors just guessed their desires, but the results were the same. This international group of Jewish media lords, >from Washington to Moscow, is not subservient to the interests of Israel. But support of Israel is a part of their agenda. On the top of the list, is globalisation and neo-liberalism; what they call "freedom of market forces". On political matters, they tend to distrust democracy and personal freedoms while making constant demands for corporate liberties. Mutual support is also high on their list of priorities. When Gusinsky was under investigation for embezzling funds, the New York Times and the Washington Post, that is the late Mrs Kathryn Graham and Mr Sultzberger, both published virtually identical lead stories and editorials supporting the "Independent Russian Press". Independent, appears to be a code word for "Jewish-owned". This should be a serious cause for concern. When an Egyptian businessman bought Harrods in London, the newspapers went into a fury. The headlines blared 'our national heritage is being taken away by foreigners'. In Israel, no outsider is allowed to own a newspaper. There was a rich Russian Jew, Gregory Lerner, who tried to buy a newspaper in Israel. He was sent to jail for six years for various mafia-related crimes. It is worth noting that, before he made his rush into the media, nobody cared about his offences. An Iraqi Jew took over a newspaper, and very soon he found himself in jail. Because the media is not a business, it is the nerve system of a country. In my opinion, the case of Palestine is much more important for you, for Europeans and Americans, than just another case of injustice. Because it proves that this international group of Jewish media lords have become a mite too powerful. In my experience, Jewish journalists can be as objective as any. Actually, the best coverage of Palestine is done by Jewish journalists, from Susanne Goldenberg of the Guardian to Gideon Levy of Haaretz. But it is easier to squeeze a camel through the needle"s eye than to find an objective media lord. This problem can be solved without actually removing media from the hands of individual proprietors if newspapers would be treated like precious water sources and other all-important public utilities. That is, unless we want to delegate all these newspapers to the murky realm of ethnic press, and build from scratch a new network of free press. Rimland ZGram - Revisionist Week in Review July 22, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Agency France Press of July 10, 2001 reports that the Simon Wiesenthal Center has called "...for unrestricted access to the files of the Stasi, the former East Germany's secret police, despite a court ruling that may limit such access." Revisionists will consider that excellent news - and urge the SWC to equally endorse unrestricted access to the Red Cross Arolsen Documentation Centre where the documents concerning inmates and their criminal records of former German concentration camps are stored. Revisionists are forbidden access. It is interesting that the Berlin Administrative Court saw fit to ban the release of transcripts of Stasi files, "such as tape recordings of conversations concerning contemporary historical figures, if these people did not agree to their publication." In these records there would be phone calls between Helmut Kohl, Franz Josef Strau=DF, Egon Bahr, Willi Brandt and various Jewish leaders with East German Communist leaders making nefarious deals. It would reveal such corruption, deception and massive lying and betrayal of state secrets that it would topple the current West German vassal state's elite. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, recently visited Germany - to the delight of some and fierce opposition by others. About 100 protesters gathered at the proposed site of Germany's national Holocaust memorial and at the nearby Chancellery, among them Beate Klarsfeld, wife of Nazi hunter Serge Klarsfeld. "There must be protests, not just a red carpet," she wailed. Some will remember that in May of this year, Mr. Assad misspoke himself in the politically incorrect vein by charging that Israelis were trying "to kill the principles of all religions with the same mentality in which they betrayed Jesus Christ and the same way they tried to betray and kill the Prophet Mohammed." The Central Council of Jews in Germany replied that the only acceptable response was "a clear distancing from this dictatorship." For good measure, the Council's vice president, Michel Friedman, demanded an apology from the young Syrian President. According to suppressed news reports by eye witnesses to Assad's German press conference, the Syrian president also endorsed the Jordanian Writers Association delving into Revisionism of Zionism's history. He supposedly praised the content of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf and, at least one respondent reported, called for the arrest of Klarsfeld. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Several AP International releases let us know that "Nazi Hunters Seek Venezuelan Help" in finding 18 alleged war criminals. To be tracked down are 14 Lithuanians, three Latvians and one Estonian, believed to be residing in Venezuela. Their names, so far, have not been released. ''Given the serious nature of the crimes which these individuals are suspected of having committed, we find it difficult to understand why the Venezuelan government has hereto refrained from responding to our request for assistance,'' Efraim Zuroff, director of the Israeli chapter of the Wiesenthal Center, proclaimed. The Zundelsite suggests that somebody ought to set up a center to track the gangsters of the "Red Mafiya" - a code word for Jewish Mafia - and go after them with equal dedication. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D German Interior Minister Otto Schily was booed while addressing a group of Silesian expellees - that is, Germans driven from their homes in Eastern Europe after World War II. "Booing at conventions is nothing new," wrote the cyber warrior who sent this to the Zundelsite, "but usually happens when a politician says that all issues arising out of expulsion can only be solved in the future in a wider European context. The latest boos followed Mr. Schily's comments about the murderous Nazi regime and on how Germany had unleashed World War II and the Holocaust." Apparently, a statement to similar effect appeared in the Frankfurter Zeitung on July 18, 2001. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D An enterprising Canadian fellow had a novel idea: To auction a bracelet made from a human tooth and braided hair, believed to have come from a German concentration camp in World War Two. The owner of this bracelet came from Israel. Canadian Jews were horrified. "It is simply abhorrent to offer such an object for auction," said David Birnbaum, head of the Quebec section of the Canadian Jewish Congress. "It trivializes the Holocaust, one of the worst tragedies of the 20th century." Readers might want to know that there exists a thriving business in fake Holocaust relics being peddled in the parking lots and at kiosks in Auschwitz and elsewhere, mostly to gullible Jewish tourists, usually by other Jews, who are similar to the crowds of hawkers who sell "ancient Egyptian clay artifacts" from recently unearthed graves to tourists from Europe. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D The tide is slowly turning in the matter of "looted art" in and after World War II. It turns out that some of the victims of these robberies were not Jews, as most people assume, but Germans. Three Renaissance pieces by Rembrandt and Albrecht D=FCrer turned up in a ne= w York City hotel room and were given back to the Bremen Museum in Germany. "When stolen treasures are smuggled into the United States, we do all we can to return them to their rightful owners, and to bring any wrongdoers to justice," said US Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill. Now we are filled with hope that O'Neill will turn over the 8,000 National Socialist War art paintings stored in aircraft hangars, quickly deteriorating, to the artists who produced them - not to the German government who undoubtedly would burn them. In the spirit of international cooperation to come to terms with our past, the Zundelsite suggests that, as a first start, O'Neill should contact Madeline Albright to return the painting stolen by her father in Prag in 1945 and hanging on the wall of her brother's house in the USA. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D The question of whether Ariel Sharon has immunity from standing trial as a war criminal for the Sabra and Shatila massacre is getting lots of exposure and discussion, especially in Europe. According to Reuters and other mass media outlets, a lawyer representing the survivors of the 1982 Beirut war crime warned Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon he could not escape the long arm of international law. Belgian lawyer Luc Walleyn, flanked by a survivor of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps, gave a press conference in which he stated that Sharon did not enjoy immunity as a politician. Walleyn added that the Belgian government had resisted pressure from the Israeli government to amend Belgian law and give Sharon immunity. How this is going to end, with a bang or with a whimper, we shall see. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Japanese officials have agreed, after fierce criticism from Jewish groups, to scrap a television ad featuring an image of Adolf Hitler aimed at "drumming up youth involvement". The Japanese Democratic Progressive Party, DPP, released a short statement agreeing it will stop airing the commercial "out of respect for the holocaust victims" and "to avoid further misinterpretations." The ad, which showed Hitler in the company of JKK as well as Castro, is said to have encouraged young people to be bold. A little sidebar: Hitler has consistently outpolled all other world leaders in opinion polls in Japan as being the most popular international leader of the 20th century. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D And speaking of ads, on everybody's tongue these days is a huge, provocative fundraising ad that claims in large letters "the Holocaust never happened" - music to Revisionist ears! - and then goes on to complain that in order to prevent that kind of statement, people ought to reach into their pockets and finance yet another Holocaust Memorial, this time in Germany's own capital, Berlin. "We know we're taking a risk by provoking," said Lea Rosh, a German media star who sponsored the idea, "But perhaps the majority are just a bit indifferent, and we want to give them a little push." She thinks that people who will be motivated to donate to Berlin's proposed Holocaust Memorial, "... (will) come to view the monument as their monument." Already gleeful, cheeky adaptations of this ad have appeared on many websites on the Net, some saying "Z=FCndel was right", "The Holocaust is a Hoax", "Faurisson a raison" etc.. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D According to a July 18, 2001 Associated Press release, Russia's flamboyant and outspoken Vladimir Zhirinovsky has finally come clean in a book published a few days ago, and admitted that his father was Jewish. For good measure, he also claims that many of his relatives perished in the Holocaust. "My father was a Jew, a Polish Jew," the 56-year-old Zhirinovsky wrote. "His name was Volf Isaakovich Eidelshtein." In the past, Zhirinovsly has taken fierce stands against Russian Jews and has accused Jews "...of bringing Russia to ruin, taking Russian women abroad for prostitution, and selling healthy Russian children and transplant organs to the West." "Why should I reject Russian blood, Russian culture, Russian land and fall in love with the Jewish people only because of that single drop of blood that my father left in my mother's body?" wrote Zhirinovsky. Oy vey! This must hurt! Big Z-Zhirinovsky was the man the Jewish media, inside and outside of Russia, vilified with gusto for the last decade. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D As widely expected and predicted, controversial historian David Irving has lost his bid for permission to appeal against a High Court libel ruling which branded him a "Holocaust denier". His comments, as posted on his website, http://www.fpp.co.uk/online/ : "Lost, after a five year battle: but not lost the war. Sombre drive for an hour, but a later call to B. brings word that [another of Britain's biggest book distributors] have just telephoned headquarters, they are also taking 200 Churchill's War, vol. ii, and have praised the book in the highest terms...we are fighting on still, but on slightly different fronts -- and we shall try to get a criminal conviction of one of the witnesses for perjury...How very interesting the whole thing is. Good thing I have strong nerves." =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D And, finally, this from a recent visitor to Brasil: "An entirely different Freedom of Speech issue: In every country suffering under the onslaught of Zionist agendas to destroy pride and autonomy...people routinely fail to see the pattern. As with anti-gun legislation, they chip away a small piece at a time, until there is no freedom left. "So it is with Brazil, where a city councilman in Cascavel drafted a law making gossip a punishable offense. Gossip is typically a natural human defense mechanism, like ostracism, which shuns that which is different and abnormal, thus strengthening that which is homogeneous to the Nation's survival. =20 "Gossip is now banned among municipal employees in the town of Cascavel. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 23, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Here is a short but sweet little item that shows how Revisionism spreads these days - without costing us a single pretty penny. It used to be that penetrating Arab countries with revisionist mass mailings, audio and video tapes, books and visits cost tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of dollars with very negligible results. I guess Revisionism is like an oak - an organism that grows slowly over many years - but once it has taken roots, it is a beauty to behold, and its branches stretch wide. One fine example of how far we've come was sent to us by Dr. Ibrahim Alloush, an instrumental link to many Arab intellectuals. Be awed: [START] In an open admission of guilt that was broadcast to millions of viewers through the satellite channel LBC, Mahmoud Darwish declared: WE HAVE MADE A MISTAKE BY ASKING THE LEBANESE GOVERNMENT TO BAN THE REVISIONIST HISTORIANS CONFERENCE IN BEIRUT. This declaration came on the eve of Sunday, July 15, 2001, in a popular TV show on LBC Television called Hewar Al Ummour. Mahmoud Darwish added that even though he is against opening up the subject of the "Holocaust" as Palestinian and Arab issues, he recognizes now that the demand of the fourteen Arab intellectuals to ban the revisionist conference in Beirut was a violation of the human rights and the rights of scientific research of revisionist historians. This new announcement by Mahmoud Darwish comes on the heels of a similar announcement by Edward Said through the internet in April, in which he essentially said that even though he is opposed to revisionist historians on principle, he never asked any Arab government to ban an intellectual conference and that those collecting the signatures on the petition of the fourteen Arab intellectuals basically presented him with a different text. The importance of Mahmoud Darwish=EDs recent declaration, however, emanates from the fact that Darwish had initially reaffirmed his call to ban the conference in Beirut when questioned about the petition by the Saudi Daily, Al Watan, in April. Darwish's change of mind, therefore, reflects mounting pressure from people across the Arab World who were enraged by the petition of the fourteen intellectuals. In fact, supporters of the alleged Hollowcause in the Arab World can only present their case in very roundabout methods. "Raising this issue is not expedient politically", "I need [an indefinite amount of time] to collect more information on this matter", "Let us not argue over numbers" , etc - are frequently cited clich=E9s by the minority who embrace Holocaust myths in the Arab World. Now there are serious cracks at the U.N. level where they dominated for so long so ruthlessly - and an upcoming U.N, conference, anticipated with foreboding by those who fear the truth, is bound to add laurels to revisionism. Watch how it flickers on the horizon: [START] Anti-Israel text threatens U.N. meeting | Betsy Pisik THE WASHINGTON TIMES | July 23, 2001 NEW YORK -- An Arab-sponsored text for an upcoming U.N. conference condemns Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza as a "crime against humanity." It threatens to derail the entire conference. The statement, suggesting a moral equivalency between the settlements and the Holocaust, is inserted in the weighty document that more than 180 nations will debate at the U.N. World Conference Against Racism, which begins late next month in Durban, South Africa. To the United States and Israel, it smacks of earlier U.N. resolutions equating Zionism and racism, which was part of official U.N. dogma from 1975 until its repeal in 1991. Insertion of the language "has turned the conference against racism into a racist conference against Israel," said Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Rabbi Michael Melchior in an interview with The Washington Times. "There is an attempt from the Arab countries to make this a major step in the total delegitimization of Israel, Zionism and the Jewish faith," said Rabbi Melchior after meetings with the White House, State Department and lawmakers. According to diplomats who have seen the most recent draft text for Durban, negotiated earlier this month in Geneva, Israeli settlements in Palestinian areas are labeled as a "foreign occupation" and a "crime against humanity." They are also compared to the apartheid policies of South Africa's past. The United States has begun pressuring its allies through diplomatic channels to remove the language at a preconference meeting starting next week in Geneva. But U.S. officials declined to say how many of their traditional allies will go along. "It's not as simplistic as Zionism equals racism," said a U.S. official. "That's old-speak, they don't use that any longer. "This is harsh language about Israel and Israeli policies," added the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. He said that if the proponents of the language persist, "the world conference itself could be badly destabilized." The official also stressed that the United Nations itself should not be blamed for the language, which is sponsored by a group of Arab nations who are using the U.N. conference to score political points. Several U.N. officials have denounced the paragraphs. The Europeans are also uneasy about the language, saying the Durban conference is not the place for country-specific condemnations. "The sorts of proposals we are seeing for language at Durban, for example equating Zionism with racism, would be completely unacceptable even if we were to deal with country-specific issues," said a European diplomat. "Durban is an opportunity to tackle racial issues constructively. This type of inflammatory language goes in exactly the opposite direction." However, the 15-nation European Union bloc has been willing to condemn human rights violations and Israeli policies in the region, often going further than Washington would like. The European diplomat said this week that the common E.U. position was to condemn racism, rather than its supposed practitioners. But some American officials are concerned that Europe, still trying to find a role in the Middle East, is proceeding too cautiously. The Arab League says its members are increasingly concerned about the daily violence between Palestinians and Israelis. "Zionism is a racist theory that the Arab League will support any condemnation of," said Ali Abbas, the league's deputy U.N. ambassador in New York. He said that Arab states are willing to be flexible on some of the text, "but not on the problem of settlements." U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson have also opposed an explicit condemnation of Israel at the conference. Mrs. Robinson, visiting Washington late last month, appealed to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell to attend the conference, which is threatening to turn into a low-level gathering instead of the high-profile event originally envisioned. "I've made it very clear that are opposed to and want to do everything I can to stop any question of a theme of Zionism as racism that was something that was dealt with in the past," Mrs. Robinson said in a recent interview. "It will be totally inappropriate to reopen something that would be both hurtful and divisive and prevent the Durban conference from making any kind of progress." South Africa's ambassador to Egypt, Frank Mdlalose, warned an Arab meeting in Cairo last week that language in the present version of the text could derail the Durban conference. South Africa, as the host of the conference and chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, is under enormous international pressure to build consensus between various blocs. The anti-Israeli language is the latest in a number of seemingly intractable obstacles to the conference, which is slated for Aug. 30 to Sept. 7. Washington has indicated that unless specific language is deleted it will consider boycotting the conference or at least sending a delegation of very low rank. But the Israelis said they will be there one way or another. "You say it is only words, but we have a lot of respect for language," Rabbi Melchior said. "We only exist for a word from God. We've seen what words create. Auschwitz began with words, same as all forms of racism. It all began with hatred and incitement and developed into physical attacks." Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 23, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Here is a short but sweet little item that shows how Revisionism spreads these days - without costing us a single pretty penny. The importance of Mahmoud Darwishís recent declaration, however, emanates from the fact that Darwish had initially reaffirmed his call to ban the conference in Beirut when questioned about the petition by the Saudi Daily, Al Watan, in April. Darwish's change of mind, therefore, reflects mounting pressure from people across the Arab World who were enraged by the petition of the fourteen intellectuals. In fact, supporters of the alleged Hollowcause in the Arab World can only present their case in very roundabout methods. "Raising this issue is not expedient politically", "I need [an indefinite amount of time] to collect more information on this matter", "Let us not argue over numbers" , etc - are frequently cited clichés by the minority who embrace Holocaust myths in the Arab World. So do take note.. [END] P.S. She will answer, It died when the Solemn Men, the Self-Righteous men came to preserve it in the Formaldehyde of Correctness. It died when those who Know Best codified and purified it with Good Thoughts. It died when the self-righteous men brought Decent Standards to the libraries, when they banned Hate Speech from the public avenues, and when they proclaimed their own ideas to be Above Question. It died when people forgot that Freedom is not just a means to something else, but Life itself. For without Freedom, life is a stale, drab shadow. Freedom may live when men are brave and willing to fight and die for Freedom. But Freedom dies when men become cowards, afraid of what others might think or do, and when men bind each other into the slavery of harmlessness. - Slade From irimland@zundelsite.org Wed, 25 Jul 2001 19:21:55 -0700 Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 19:21:55 -0700 From: Ingrid Rimland irimland@zundelsite.org Subject: ZGram - 7/25/2001 - "More Finkelstein" - Part I Copyright (c) 2001 - Ingrid A. Be sure to tell them where they can buy the book, the Holocaust Industry - at www.amazon.com [START] The Daily Star, Tuesday, July 3, 2001 How an entire industry has hijacked memories of the Holocaust Make no mistake, this book is a bombshell. Published last year, The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering, not only braces with a provocative title, but adds to one's amazement when it is revealed that its author, Norman G. Finkelstein, is Jewish and the son of Holocaust survivors. Strange, then, that this man decided to study a phenomenon of which the world is becoming increasingly aware: the packaging, marketing and selling of a historical event, totally divorced from its context and used as a tool for extortion and guilt where resistance might have lay. On second thought, is the fact that an author with these stellar "credentials" has penned this book such a surprise? For he too, at the end, is a consequence of the "industry" he decries, for in today's world, only a few can utter such criticisms without being slurred as anti-Semites. Finkelstein gets down to work from the first page. In this concise and slender book, which has been translated into dozens of languages, we are faced with truths long denied and facts as yet untold. Whether one agrees with the author's premise or not, the extent and thoroughness of his research are unquestionable. From the outset, the author separates the Nazi Holocaust which is the historical event that occurred between 1939 and 1945, resulting in the mass murder of Europe's Jewry, and "The Holocaust" which is its ideological representation. The purpose of this Holocaust dogma, he argues, is to portray both the Jewish people and the Jewish state as victims. Thereby, they become immune to criticism. Finkelstein states that Holocaust awareness did not take place in the States prior to 1967. Before that, the genocide of 6 million Jews was never given prominence in American life. It was the period of the Cold War and Germany was realigned as a partner, hence references to German war crimes would have been counter-productive. All this changed after the 1967 war, when Israel defeated Jordan, Syria and Egypt, securing its position as the dominant power in the Middle East. The United States, mired in the humiliation of a war with Vietnam that it was in the process of losing, saw Israel as a willing ally in a region where Syrian and Egyptian regimes were taking increasingly defiant and independent stances. "This was a windfall for American Jews," Finkelstein writes. He explains how this ethnic group in America, which always sought success and access to power, found in Israel its vehicle. They set in motion the "holocaust industry" to justify American support and Israeli excesses while benefiting from this newly acquired victim status, becoming the go-betweens in a very lucrative business. Finkelstein puts it clearly: "Everybody knows (that of) the contributions collected in America, (in) the name of Israel, about half of the sum goes not to Israel but to Jewish institutions in America." There are a few stars in Finkelstein's book, most notably the Godfather of the Holocaust industry, Nazi-hunter Elie Wiesel. Wiesel comes from a school of thought that places the Holocaust as an event totally out of the ordinary, so unique as to be sacred, so horrific as to be incomprehensible; therefore any attempt at studying it or rationalizing it is tantamount to denying it. All this, Finkelstein points out, done at the rate of $25 000 a lecture plus limousine. It is Wiesel who introduced the concept of the Holocaust as being the climax of Gentile hatred for Jews. According to his interpretation, this is no less then a 2,000-year-old hatred stemming from the crucifixion of Christ and leading up to this inevitable horror. Thus by divorcing a historical event (which was never exclusively Jewish) from its appropriate context and placing it in a romanticized chronicle of the Jewish people, its historical value is totally stripped from it and its dogmatic purpose made clear: The world is out to get the Jews. This, Finkelstein says, explains their need for a sanctuary (Israel) and greater security (atomic weapons and immunity from criticism.) All this has led to the turning of the Holocaust into the new religion of the secular American Jew, the new tie that binds in an otherwise threateningly assimilating culture. One of the strengths of Finkelstein's book is his guidance through the minefield that is modern-day propaganda. His clarity of thought holds the reader's attention while his undeniable humor ("if the world wants the Jew dead, truly the wonder is that they are still alive - and, unlike much of humanity, not exactly starving") makes of for an interesting read. One by one, false assumptions fall to reveal the less enchanting purposes behind them. In the first two chapters we are faced with the cultural and political ramifications of the Holocaust industry. In his third and final chapter we are introduced to the chilling ways it does business. Finkelstein illuminates astonishing facts about the mechanics that made a country such as Switzerland buckle and pay $1.25 billion to Jewish organizations such as the World Jewish Congress, which claims to represent all Jewish Holocaust survivors. According to Finkelstein's research, the money has yet to be given to the people in whose name it were claimed but rather fills the already overflowing coffers of these institutions. Finally, as proof is given of lawyers and senators charging up to $640 per hour for their work on these cases, it is again Finkelstein's wit and perceptiveness that keeps us reading as he cleverly points out that the American record in dealing with dormant Jewish accounts is just as bad as Switzerland's, if not worse. Critics, unable to deny his well-supported arguments, have resorted to attacking his style, which they qualify as endless ranting and angry diatribe. Most moving of all is his demand that the victims of the Nazis be left to rest in peace, and as for the survivors, he shares his mother's wisdom: "If everyone who claims to be a survivor actually is one, who did Hitler kill?" Indeed everyone is a survivor if there is money to be had and sainthood to be awarded, but at the end of the day only a few truly survived and they did not do so to watch their real suffering be used for material and political gain. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 26, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: The interview below, slightly shortened, was sent to me from an Arab source; unfortunately, a reference was not given. Because of the extraordinary content of this interview, I am sending it to my readers in the hope that someone knows who Samia Nassar Melki is and where this interview was done. Read and savor this one! [START] NORMAN FINKELSTEIN PULLS NO PUNCHES Samia Nassar Melki speaks with outspoken author Norman G. Finkelstein teaches international relations and political theory at the City University of New York. He is a political science graduate from Princeton University, with a doctorate in Zionism. He is the author of several books: Image and reality of the Israel?Palestine conflict, The Rise and Fall of Palestine: A Personal Account of the Intifada Years, and A Nation on Trial, which he co-wrote with Ruth Bettina Birn. His latest and most controversial publication, The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering, is currently No. 1 on the bestseller lists across Europe, but has received the silent treatment in the United States. In this interview, conducted at his home in New York, Samia Nassar Melki spoke with the author about his book, its repercussions and the Middle East. Samia: How are you coping with all of this controversy? Finkelstein: This controversy exists in an alien space for me because in the United States there is nothing! A former co-worker of mine called me yesterday from Belgium, she said that she walked into a bookstore there and found the book prominently featured. Here in the United States, you can't find it. So the fuss is going on in an alien space. I don't feel like a celebrity here, it doesn't exist. Samia: America is like this wall of silence. How do you stay connected to the Middle East, to the controversy that your book is creating in Europe and to what the industry is up to? Finkelstein: Basically through the internet, e-mail, correspondence. The US is the corporate headquarters of the Holocaust industry; everyday there is something. There is literally at this point not a single issue of The New York Times, which doesn't have an article on the Nazi Holocaust. The only topic that receives more coverage is the weather! It's true. There isn't a single issue of the Sunday Book Review that doesn't have a book on the Holocaust. The main way of getting published today is if you write about the Holocaust. Samia: You say in The Holocaust Industry that American Jewry used the Holocaust and Israel to get to a prominent position in society. Now they are on top, so what's next? Finkelstein: It serves very useful purposes. American Jews are in this really phenomenal position of being the most economically prosperous ethnic group in the US, and ... gets to go around claiming it is a victim. So it uses this to immunize itself from any kind of criticism. It is exactly what Israel does. Israel is the fourth or fifth most powerful military in the world and it goes around saying "poor me, I am under attack." It is a marvelous ideological weapon and they are not going to let it go. Samia: But if the Holocaust is a means to an end and they have reached that end, what's going to happen now? Finkelstein: Right, but they (American Jewry) are so economically and politically powerful, you still need the Holocaust to deflect criticism, and otherwise criticism would be quite substantial. Samia: Do you think the criticism would be valid? Finkelstein: Yes, in some cases of course! The positions that the American Jewish elite has taken on all sorts of issues ranging from affirmative action, to uncritical support of Israel, to the demilitarization of the Palestinians. Of course criticism would be valid and it ought to be articulated. Samia: What do you think real anti-Semitism is about? Finkelstein: I have given it a lot of thought and I don't think that there is a simple answer. What I object to, though, is the standard Holocaust formulation that all anti-Semitism is irrational, it's just this Gentile hatred of the Jews, it is completely irrational, and Jews could never bear any responsibility for the animus that is directed at them. That formulation I think is completely self-serving and ideological. I think it is preposterous. Even in practical application, can anyone seriously argue that the hatred that many Palestinians or, for that matter, the Lebanese, bear toward Jews has nothing to do with anything the Jews have done? That is the purpose of the Holocaust ideology, because a central feature of the whole Holocaust ideology is that the extermination of the Jews was completely irrational. They always say that every genocide, every other killing has a rational motive: land, property, wealth. There is always a reason, whereas this one is unique because it is irrational. So the second step of this argument is to say that the Holocaust is the culmination of all Gentile anti-Semitism and therefore the conclusion is all anti-Semitism is completely irrational. That is a very useful dodge. Samia: I think your book is actually a very pro-Jewish book. It is at least a genuine one telling Jews to watch out. Finkelstein: I agree. I did say by the end of the book that American Jewry and Israel have a structural symmetry. By arrogance, by the throwing around of their political and economic weight, they are now boxed into a corner where they rely entirely on the US ruling elite for their survival. I don't think that is a good strategy for people who are numerically weak, I think it is crazy. Well, you can't predict, but the chicken will come home to roost. Who can Israel depend on now? No one. Everyone loathes Israel, they may pretend otherwise, but we know what they are really thinking, not because they are irrational anti-Semites but because the truth is that Israel had acquired a lot of good will at its birth because of the Nazi Holocaust and has squandered it. Samia: It is my impression that for American Jews, the US is very much home, Israel is like this foreign project. They do not seem to realize that they are denying another people a homeland. Finkelstein: I don't think they care really. Racism runs pretty deep now amongst American Jews. Samia: Racism toward the Arabs? Finkelstein: Toward Arabs, toward blacks, frankly toward everyone. "Everybody wants to kill the Jews. Everybody is envious because we are so much better." Samia: And now you have a new generation of Jews whose identity is this victimization. Finkelstein: The Jews' claim to victimization is very peculiar. It is a very specific kind of "victim." It is not like "we are victims, we are suffering." There is some of that because Jews like to think they are always suffering, but it is sort of "we are victims, so why are you attacking us?" or "we are victims because they are attacking us, they are attacking us because we are so much better." There are other groups that can be qualified as victims; but Jews are not victims, they are the most prosperous group in the US. That is the aberration. Why would the most successful group call itself a victim? If they were truly victims, they wouldn't be complaining as in a recent article in The New York Times that the undergraduate population of Princeton University is only 40 percent Jewish! Jews constitute 1.5 percent of the American population! That is the issue that needs to be explored. Samia: Do the Americans realize what is going on? Finkelstein: The American Jews have no conception. Non-Jews, yes they do. If you talk to a non-Jew, he will eventually say something like "don't you think there are a few too many Holocaust museums?" This chauvinism, this excessive support for everything Jewish, is blinding and I think it is a problem. Samia: Yes, but this chauvinism for everything Jewish is transcribing itself into a lot of deaths in the Middle East. Finkelstein: They couldn't care less. The only people who got their attention were Hizbullah. Hizbullah did one thing right: Never negotiate, don't waste your time negotiating. There is only one thing to negotiate: when you leave. Talk after the withdrawal; before that there is nothing to talk about. That is the right way. That is the only thing they understand. Samia: Do you think there is an end in sight for the Palestinians? Finkelstein: No. I think the Palestinians could defeat the Israelis, I do. The term intifada means "shaking off," like a dog shaking off his fleas, but the shaking off so far has been pretty superficial. They need a new leadership that is really committed, that is clever. The Palestinians could give Israel a run for its money. They did the first two years, in '88 and '89, Israel was having a very hard time with them, but once the old team moved in (Yaser Arafat), it was hopeless. Samia: So for the foreseeable future, it is going to be like this. Finkelstein: It is going to be worse. Israel is going to bludgeon the Palestinians into submission. I am not optimistic at all. Revolts are born strictly out of frustration; it can last just so long. When there is no strategic vision, no tactical vision, no sense of when to rein in, and when to let loose, there is none of that. It won't last; people give up, so I'm very pessimistic. The Palestinian so-called leadership has no vision. Samia: What is Sharon's strategy? Finkelstein: Basically it was a carrot-and-stick strategy. Barak had the carrot strategy, meaning he gave them what he called concessions, thinking they would accept because they look good on paper and Arafat is only looking for paper concessions. They thought that would work, but when it didn't, they brought in Sharon. But remember, it is not Sharon, it is Sharon-Peres, it's the same leadership, so they brought in Sharon as the figure, but Peres is still there beside him and now they are trying the stick to bludgeon them into accepting Israeli terms. Samia: Yes, but Israel cannot be living in denial about the 4.5 million Palestinians. Finkelstein: Well, their idea is just a South African one, to create Bantustans and give them independence within these Bantustans. Samia: What do Israelis want? Finkelstein: They want what they have always wanted. They want to dominate the Middle East and they want to consolidate as much of their own physical power and resources as they can and that means taking everything they can from the area, from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River, and then project sheer terror on the rest of the region to keep it in line. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 27, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: The letter below was all over the Internet yesterday, but I am still sending it out this morning for those of you who haven't seen it yet. But before you read this, PLEASE go to http://home.dal.net/rami/intifada.html This demo is effective in its stark simplicity. You will not easily forget it. If you go to church on Sunday, I urge you to take this letter along and ask your pastor to read it to his congregation. If you can spare a dollar, make 20 copies at your nearest copy place and hand it to your neighbors. If you are on the Internet, as my ZGram readers are, send it to your representatives in Washington. Do what you can. It is your DUTY to do what you can! [START] THE CAPTIVE BOY By C. E. Carlson The captive in the Reuters photograph could be any man's son, dragged along by no less than seven armed men. A short but powerfully built figure holds the boy from behind, sturdy left arm wrapped across his chest. It is a civilized arm wearing a gold watch and wedding band. His dark face is seen over the boy's head, beneath the plastic full-face visor attached to his helmet. The look on the child's face is of unmistakable, indescribable fear. It is the face of an adolescent boy, with smooth, clear light olive skin and eyes that appear to be blue. His mouth is agape as though crying, but no tears show on his face. He is dressed in faded blue jeans with dirt scuffs on his knees, and a long-sleeved blue pullover. He could be described as beautiful. This Reuters photo appeared on the front cover of Washington Report for Middle Eastern Affairs in May. The captive child's left arm is in the grip of a tall, young Israeli who, from his appearance, could be an American from any town, a foot taller than the boy, in green military garb, a rifle hung from a shoulder strap so as to free his arm. On the other side, a large and powerfully built lantern-jawed Caucasian, his Israeli nametag clearly legible on his jacket, has a strangle hold on the boy. His face is also partly masked by a visor and he wears a war flack jacket and kneepads with the ever-present slung, automatic rifle. His grip on the boy indicates that there must have been a struggle before the photograph was taken, for the big Israeli has apparently wrestled the boy's blue sweatshirt from off his arm and wrapped it around his neck so that the boy's face and chin appear in the neck hole of his own shirt, which twists around his neck like a noose. The impassive-faced Israelis, all armed to the teeth, encircle the boy in his panic. How is it your author knows it is terror and not defiance that we see in the boy's eyes? His blue jeans attest to his fear, for in his fright, he has wetted his trousers. From his crotch to his knees, he is drenched in his own urine. Who among us can remember this kind of fear? Few of us have ever been so frightened as to humiliate ourselves in public by drenching our clothes. Perhaps at five or six, but not at twice that age! This boy may also defecate in his clothes before the ordeal ends, as men under torture often do. For he must know from a hundred true stories that he may not survive the next hour of questioning by the Israeli Defense Forces and the Border Police. He has surely heard the accounts of boys no older than himself who have had their sex organs crushed with clubs, a reminder that more Palestinians are not welcome in Israel. He may have seen, or at least heard of, the bodies of Palestinians returned to parents with fingernails pulled from the quick before being strangled or beaten to death. The torturing of prisoners is no secret in Israel; Prime Minister Ariel Sharon publicly acknowledges it and seeks to have torture re-legalized. This boy's body fluids tell us he knows indescribable fear. According to The Washington Report on Middle Eastern Affairs, this boy's name is Kamal Ali As'idah who lives with his parents and four sisters in Adi ellJaz in Jerusalem. He was only 10 years old on April 6th when he decided to join the older boys throwing rocks at the unwelcome Israeli "Defense" Force intruders. Little Kamal played a dangerous game of defiance, even though he had little or no chance of hurting the hooded automatic rifle bearing soldiers. According to Washington Report's editorial in the July issue, Kamal got too close, perhaps because he could not throw as far as the older lads. And he did not run as fast; he was the only boy caught and arrested this day. He became the captors' example to discourage his peers from throwing rocks. The Washington Report Editor followed up the amazing photograph a month later, found Kamal and talked to his family. His father told the Editor that his son was released to him after eight hours in custody. His head and legs had been badly beaten, and one arm was broken. Kamal's father was subsequently fired from his job with an Israeli tour bus company after the incident became known to his employer--retribution for the acts of his 10-year-old son. The bus company probably thrives on American Tourists who learn about the nobleness of the Israeli State on its tours. Mr. Ali As'idah may no longer be trusted. Like many of his neighbors, he is now unemployed. Reprisals against families are standard fare in occupied Palestine. What father of a son cannot find a tightness across his chest on thinking of this 10 years old? Imagine your child so frightened that he cannot hold his urine, dragged away, jailed for 8 hours alone, beaten by men twice his age and strength to the point where his bones break. What manner of men are these who do these acts repeatedly, with the full blessings of their national leader? A few say they hate Arabs, even children--perhaps they feel they must. Others say the Jewish soldiers are only doing their job. But Christian leaders, what is your excuse? Rather than accusing the Israeli recruits, we must ask, what manner of men are we? Christian fathers, what have you to say to Kamal's father? You professing Judeo-Christian Celebrity leaders say nothing because you say the men with the clubs and flack jackets are God's "chosen people." But would you tell this to the boy's mother? How can you local church leaders turn your backs on what you cannot deny? Arab Americans, living in comfort, where are your voices? Did not Jesus say, "I was in prison and you came unto me - inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me?" What would Jesus say about you, his chosen ones, ignoring the torturing of Arab children before your very eyes? If He were to walk into your temple this Sunday, what would Jesus say of your silence to the sniper rifle reports, the ritual assassination of children? Jesus said, "Suffer these little ones to come to me." He was talking about little Palestinian children then. What has changed? Every time a child screams out in terror in his own humble home, fearing the midnight pounding on the door, Christ sees. He suffers for the terrified children and their mothers. What is your excuse, Pharisee worshipers of the "chosen people" myth? You cling to the pale excuse that these destroyers of the youth and innocence are acting in "self defense." The blood and shattered bones of little Kamal are on you! Demand a stop to all military support for Israel now! Stop all trade with Israel until torture and terror are excluded from its national policy. Believers, do not junket to Israel and patronize the tourist bus companies like the one that fired Kamal's father. Reconsider your support of any religious organization of any kind that does not speak out for Kamal and his four sisters and for all those like them. Give this letter to your Pastor. This movement can only start in the Christian Church. It must start now. Copyright 2001, may be reproduced only in full. We Hold These Truths (www.whtt.org) 4839 E. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 28, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: Up-front and in response to many queries: No, we don't yet have the verdict by the Human Rights Tribunal in Canada in the five-year-marathon trial about the censorship attempt by this quasi-judicial body pertaining to the U.S. based Zundelsite. We fully expect these appointed political hacks, NOT judges, who are well on the way to wrecking the Canadian legal traditions and system of law and throw it on the trash heap of politicized justice, to soil themselves with one of the most vicious and vindictive judgments ever to be handed down in the history of Canada. But then, what else can you expect from an outfit that outlaws Truth to be a defense in a trial where historical Truth is at the very heart of the issue at stake? In future years, this Canadian trial around the Zundelsite will be as famous as the trial of Galileo, the trials of the Witches of Salem or, more recently, the bizarre Scopes Trial. Shifting the lens of our cyber camera: The international scene is quickly changing. Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere - and just when Israelis elected the most radical and brutal prime minister since the formation of that terrorist state - the mood on the international scene has changed, especially in Europe. The public mood there is crackling with tension. Sharon-the-Bulldozer prime minister could, like Sampson, bring the temple down with his arrogance and abuse of power against the Palestinians. Far from being a safe haven for Jews, as envisioned by Israel's Zionist founders, Israel and its policies are making the whole world unsafe for Israelis and, by extension, Diaspora Jews who have so closely publicly identified with Israel that they can rightly be called Israel's Fifth Column, a security liability to their host countries. The smarter Jews smell that already - hence, more and more discover suddenly and announce publicly that they are "only" one-quarter Jewish - and, to quote Hilberg, that there is "no quality control" when it comes to the Holocaust! Those who have sown the wind are about to reap the whirlwind. Read on. Project ahead. The love affair with things Israeli-Jewish is ending - a "love" that made blind for so many years. Reality is now setting in. As is the Zundelsite custom, comments follow pertinent paragraphs in this article by Moshe Weizman of the Associated Press, dated July 26, 2001: Weizman: With officials afraid of facing arrest or prosecution while traveling abroad, Israel has compiled a list of countries where its political and military leaders - including Prime Minister Ariel Sharon - could face legal challenges under war crimes laws, an official said Thursday. Zundelsite: These are the very people who agitated for the creation of the O.S.I., the instrument of Jewish terror against people who had been following lawful orders of their governments also some 50, 60 years ago! Jews are the people who agitated and succeeded in having the former President of Austria, Kurt Waldheim, put on a watch list of alleged war criminals, turning him into an international pariah, banning him from entering the USA, ruining his reputation - for no proven war crimes! Weizman: Israel's Foreign Ministry decided to "map" countries around the world in light of requests from several current and retired security officials who are concerned, ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon said. Zundelsite: Israel is setting up a watch list in reverse! How sweet can it get?! High profile Revisionists on some mysterous "watch lists" available at the push of some computer button have faced this situation for years - carefully having to choose which country they could fly into, which airports to avoid, what border crossings were safer than others etc. Now the shoe is going to be on the other foot - and it won't be a picnic for some Israelis. Weizman: He did not mention which countries would be considered problematic for Israeli officials. But the ministry said Israel wanted to prevent "the politicization" of the international judicial system. (...) Zundelsite: These are also the people who have politicized the international judicial system since 1945 to get vengeance done against past and present enemies in Austria, France, Germany, England, Australia, Canada and the USA. These are the people who criminalized people like Dr. Robert Faurisson, Dr. Max Wahl, J=FCrgen Graf, David Irving, Hans Schmidt, Dr. Fredrick T=F6ben, Ernst Z=FCndel and others through their drummed-up charges and endless agitation with their Holocaust racket protection laws! Karma is being done! Now some even claim that Israeli criminals have been quietly tracked for years for thousands of crimes committed by Jewish officials, assassins, torturers, murderers and "Schreibtischt=E4ter" - those who sat behind their desks giving the orders to commit such horrid crimes! Weizman: In Denmark, lawmakers have threatened to file a complaint against Israel's designated ambassador to Denmark, Carmi Gilon. In a recent interview, Gilon said that when he was head of Israel's security service, the Shin Bet, he authorized torture of Arab suspects to prevent imminent attacks. The Israeli Supreme Court has since outlawed the practice. Zundelsite: Sharon wants the Israeli torture law to be changed back, reinstated - and this stone age measure to be legalized again. Thousands of cases and actions by Israeli bureaucrats, security personnel and soldiers as well as judges, policemen and politicians acting under these laws will qualify for such watch list prosecution treatment in the future. Weizman: Israel "acknowledges the need to compile a list of countries whose wide-ranging authority enables them to act against foreign citizens for acts committed in foreign countries," read the statement by the Foreign Ministry. Zundelsite: Those are the very concepts Jewish talmud thinkers introduced into the Western mind - and had legislated into laws - now haunting them. Jewish lobbyists manipulated, bribed and cowed politicians in vassal regimes in many parts of the world to adopt those laws to make life miserable for Israel's/Jewry's former, present and future enemies. Weizman: Sharon told Israel radio there was "an attempt to harm Israel and the Jewish people, and thus there is activity to stop this danger." Zundelsite: No! Sharon has that all wrong! This is finally an attempt by civilized people to bring Jewish/Israeli war criminals and thugs to justice at long last! Weizman: The complaint filed against Sharon in Belgium was a preliminary move, and a Belgian judge has yet to decide on whether the case should proceed. An Israeli government investigation in the 1980s found Sharon indirectly responsible for the killings in Lebanon, forcing him to step down as defense minister. Zundelsite: The case against Sharon in the Sabra and Shatila massacres is open and shut. Other cases of murder and terror in his early career willl undoubtedly be dealt with later. Weizman: In Gilon's case, Danish lawmakers, politicians and human rights activists have called on Israel to withdraw his candidacy, but Israel insists it will not do so. Gilon is to begin his new job in Copenhagen on Aug. 15. Danish Justice Minister Frank Jensen said Wednesday that Gilon would not be arrested, noting that he would have diplomatic immunity as an ambassador. Zundelsite: That ought to be interesting! So Mengele could be Ambassador to Denmark? Pol Pot would be safe? Bin Laden would have immunity? The double standard here, too? Weizman: Israeli President Moshe Katzav criticized Denmark on Thursday, insisting that Gilon, as chief of the Shin Bet, "acted according to the Israeli government's orders." Zundelsite: The German generals and political elite of the Third Reich tried that defense in Nuremberg - and since. Their claim was it was war; they were issued orders by a lawfully constituted government recognized by the USA, England, France, Russia and the rest of the world; they, like other soldiers and bureaucrats around the world had to follow and execute these orders. Every Jewish "legal authority" has disallowed or poo-poohed this defense. Now they'll have a taste of their own medicine. Weizman: "Denmark has never spoken out against Palestinian terrorists," Katzav added= =2E Zundelsite: Please note: Denmark of all countries! Denmark has been the most pro-Israeli, pro-Jewish in sentiment and with a succession of pro-Israeli governments in Europe since 1939! The Danish intelligence service is a virtual extension of Mossad. This is therefore a rebellion from a "friend" - a rebellion to the max! Here is an opportunity begging to be taken - without firing a shot! All the Arab regimes have to do is to set up a law, based on the wording of the Belgian law, and allow Palestinians or their own nationals to file lawsuits in their own country against Israeli officials, generals, politicians, security personnel, policemen, secret agents etc. - people guilty of initiating war crimes, plotting aggressive war, carrying out assassinations around the world etc. The possibilities are endless! The Iraquis could do it for the destruction of their atomic facilities in peacetimes by unprovoked air strikes; the Libyans for shooting down their civilian jet liners and for bombing Tripoli. The Morroccans and the Lebanese could follow suit, as could the Egyptians - thousands of Egyptians were massacred or driven into the Sinai Desert in the 1967 Seven Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur war to die of thirst, be machine-gunned or bulldozed to death. The names of the Israeli army units and their commanders are known! Their bragging confessions are on public record, covered by international news magazines and the Israeli media! The Poles could have the murderers of Katyn, who are still alive, brought to justice in Russia - or in Belgium if the Russians keep stalling. The Germans could bring charges against those who poisoned the bread of the SS prisoners-of-war while in U.S. captivity in 1945 - again in Belgium, since the Allied vassal regimes will not prosecute Allied war criminals. The murderers of these prisoners of war are alive in Israel and were former members of the Knesset. Their names are known! They have bragged about their fiendish deeds on TV specials like "The Avengers" where they preened themselves how they did it. It would not take a lot. The judicial authorities in these Arab states would merely have to agree to investigate the cases, then issue international arrest warrants - and hunt these criminals down! Even the smallest Arab nations could do it - without spending a single dollar for another useless piece of military hardware pawned off on them by often hidden Jewish arms merchants from the Western world. All it would take is the will to see justice done - a rubber stamp on a piece of paper and a telex to Interpol, along with the international arrest warrant. Presto! Israeli aggression would whimper to a standstill, as Israeli soldiers and bureaucrats, paralyzed by fear, would get mighty worried that they would be subjected to arrest and prosecution - ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! It's dazzling, isn't it - to think that this could be accomplished? It bears repeating: Without firing a single shot! The documentary film was shown ***twice*** last week ***without any interruption*** at 10:10 p.m. EDT (7:10 p.m. PDT) and, again, at 1:10 p.m. EDT (10:10 p.m. PDT). How desperate our enemies must be that the public believe their version of the "Holocaust"! ===== In 1994 alone, Germany paid $172 million to Russia as "compensation for Nazi-era victims". However, an audit showed that at least $36 million of that money has simply disappeared. The Russian prosecutor-general's office is reported to be investigating - although they won't confirm that it is so. ===== Citing a "lack of positive response" from the Vatican to a request for additional Holocaust-era documents, a joint Catholic-Jewish panel of historians suspended a study of the Church's activities during World War II. "Not surprising," says Efraim Zuroff, director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem, in an interview with JPost Radio's Nina Solomin. The Wiesenthalers are on record that they aren't happy about the purported censorship. ===== In a press release dated July 20, 2000, the American Jewish Committee applauded the British Appellate Court ruling against "Holocaust Denier" David Irving. The Court of Appeal ruling upheld Judge Charles Gray's lower court judgment that Irving had "distorted and manipulated history in order to promote his anti-Semitic, racist, and far-right politics, and that Irving is a pro-Nazi polemicist". Judge Gray held that Dr. Lipstadt was justified in calling Mr. Irving a Holocaust denier in her book ``Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Truth and Memory.'' Irving has to come up with the first payment of costs assessed against him in just a couple of weeks - or face bankruptcy. ===== The big story on the international scene is that Denmark threatened to arrest the new Israeli ambassador, former Shin Bet chief Carmi Gillon, because of his public stand on torture. The Danish Danish Justice Minister, Franc Hensen, stated that Denmark must arrest Gillon because the country is committed to the United Nations to arrest persons responsible for torturing prisoners. Foreign minister Shimon Peres's response: "How Do You Fight Terrorism"? Calling upon "our friends in Denmark," Peres said, cheekily: "Do you have a different way to fight terror?" ==== What are described as "French student groups" and "anti-racist organizations" are trying to draw attention to a university "long known as a breeding ground for Holocaust denial and other far-right activities." The university so targeted is Jean Moulin, named for a leader of the French Resistance during World War II. Late last month, two professors who in 1990 approved with honors a thesis attempting to disprove the Holocaust changed their evaluation of the work to "unacceptable." The dissertation, completed under the guidance of a history professor, attempted to validate the theories of Paul Rassinier, the father of French Holocaust revisionism. The agitating students are not happy with what they consider a partial concession. Although Holocaust denial is on the wane in France, at least that is their claim, the university provides it "with the trappings of legitimacy", student leaders warn. ===== CNSNews of July 25, 2001 reported how Israel and a major American Jewish organization sought to enlist the support of the diplomatic community ahead of an international conference against racism, fearing that the conference would blast Israel and the Jewish people for the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. To quote CNSNews reporter, Julie Stahl: "The resolution, prepared in Tehran last February, revives the controversial "Zionism is racism" resolution that was adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 1975 at the urging of Arab States, and then finally repealed in 1991. "Zionism is the national self-determination movement on which the existence of the State of Israel is based. But Arab states argue that Israel's very existence is racist because Jews from around the world are permitted to become citizens by virtue of their Jewishness while others aren't. "Draft texts prepared ahead of the conference also refer to "holocausts" rather than the Holocaust, while anti-Semitism has been left off a list of forms of racism." ===== In that same report, the ADL's director, Abe Foxman, also delivered a memorable quote. Treatment of the Jewish people, Foxman opined sagely, was like a barometer of society. Like canaries miners used to send into the mines to test if the air was healthy to breathe, Jews were treated in society in a way that tested civility, decency and democracy in the world. Question: What "barometer" is applied to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians? Certainly not "civility, decency and democracy"! ===== To its eternal shame, the US Justice Department has found another octogenarian to hound. Officials have begun deportation proceedings against a former US citizen accused of persecuting Jews during World War II in Nazi-occupied Lithuania. In filings in a Tampa, Florida, federal immigration court, the department's Office of Special Investigations accused Algimantas Dailide, 80, of joining the Nazi-sponsored Lithuanian Security Police, known as Saugumas, in their arrest and search for Jews who tried to escape the Vilnius ghetto. Sixty-four people have been denaturalized and 54 removed from their US residences since the O.S.I. initiated its program in 1979 to take legal action against former Nazi collaborators residing in the United States. Among them was John Demjanjuk, 81, a Ukrainian-born retired auto worker whose US citizenship was restored in 1998 after an Israeli appeals court overturned his conviction and death sentence on charges later proved to be a case of mistaken identity. Demjanjuk has been dragged one more time before the courts by the same O.S.I. - which used forged ID cards and falsified Soviet "evidence" to railroad him the last time! ===== Scottish authorities have been obliging the "Nazi Hunters'" demands as well. Officials have began extradition proceedings against Anton Gecas, a resident of Edinburgh accused of Nazi-era genocide. Gecas, 85, is wanted in Lithuania, which last March formally asked Britain to extradite him to face charges of murdering Jews in World War Two. The Nazi-hunting Simon Wiesenthal Centre, which has been pressing Scottish authorities to speed up the extradition process, greeted the decision to issue the arrest warrant with "great satisfaction". Meanwhile, Solomon Morrell, the torturer and serial killer of over 1,000 Silesian Germans after the war, fled to Israel, after Polish authorities wanted to prosecute him for these crimes. Israel is refusing to extradite this proven mass murderer. Ask your librarian to get you the John Sack book, "An Eye for an Eye". ===== Moshe Weizman of the Associated press reports that Israel has compiled a list of countries where its political and military leaders - including Prime Minister Ariel Sharon - could face legal challenges under war crimes laws. This list was prompted by concerns expressed by current and retired security officials "...who wanted to know whether they might be arrested or prosecuted while traveling abroad, ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon said." Nachshon did not elaborate which countries would be considered problematic for Israeli officials, but chances are he was thinking of the very countries where it is illegal to question anything related to the "Holocaust". Dov Weissglas, legal advisor to Prime Minister Sharon, says Jews could be arrested and prosecuted for crimes they did way back to pre-"independence" (1948) days! ===== Many suspect that a closet Revisionist must have been up to some mischief in the hilarious sign that appeared in posters all over Berlin. "Den Holocaust hat es nie gegeben" - (The Holocaust never happened) - it claims in a country where people get arrested and fined, and sometimes even thrown in jail, for less provocative statements found in private correspondence after government-inspired midnight raids. Der Spiegel, Germany's most important news magazine with over 4 million readers, ran a supercilious article asking, tongue-in-cheek: "What poster?" describing the indifference of passersby. "I do not wish to condemn [the poster]," said Paul Spiegel president of the central council of German Jews, although he did warn that "provocation has its limits". Spiegel claims he only knew of this campaign a day before it started. "Garish, provocative gags are not appropriate for the Holocaust," he wailed. ===== NewsMax.com of July 27, 2001 reports that "...(c)alling Palestinians "snakes" and "vipers" apparently passes for political correctness in Israel, where a rabbi whose political party holds 17 seats in parliament lashed out at Arabs and warned that the Messiah would come and promptly 'send them on their way' to hell. "In the old city of Jerusalem they're swarming like ants. They should go to hell - and the Messiah will speed them on their way," said Rabbi Ovadia Yossef during his a weekly sermon broadcast over Israeli army radio." Is it any wonder, then, that the Israeli Army behaves towards the Palestinians with such contempt and in such brutal ways - when one of their most visible rabbis calls these unfortunate people "snakes" and "vipers"? ===== From irimland@zundelsite.org Mon, 30 Jul 2001 14:03:21 -0700 Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2001 14:03:21 -0700 From: Ingrid Rimland irimland@zundelsite.org Subject: ZGrams - 7/30/2001 - "Stalin's War of Extermination" Copyright (c) 2001 - Ingrid A. Rimland ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny July 30, 2001 Good Morning from the Zundelsite: The book review below, published in the English translation of the German-based Berliner Morgenzeitung, has only recently come to our attention. The National Journal website at http://globalfire.tv/nj/e2001/history/stalinswar.htm republished this review and adorned it with its own rather outspoken editorial, titled "Putin's Surprise Attack". Today's ZGram incorporates some of this editorial. The book reviewed reflects, rather timidly but nonetheless notably, the shifting sands of Germany's rekindled perception of what really caused World War II - and what role Hitler was forced to play by default. This new perception did not happen in a vacuum. Russian President Putin, who as intelligence officer stationed in East (Central) Germany, enjoyed the insights into what Germans really feel but cannot say under the current psychologically repressive system. Putin is fluent in the German language and, many feel, is acting to kindle and perhaps even legitimize these feelings in his new and very interesting "Realpolitik" towards the German nation by careful release of selected historical documents only available in hitherto top secret Kremlin archives. As part of his courting the Germans, Putin recently released a few of the most securely concealed documents about Stalin's war of extermination. As a result, Jewish interests found themselves in a state of uncertainty and quickly produced a book in the name of Israeli historian Gabriel Gorodetsky "Die gro=DFe T=E4uschung. Hitler, Stalin und das Unternehmen Barbarossa" (Th= e Great Deception. Hitler, Stalin and Barbarossa). In this book Gorodetsky tries franticly to keep alive the old story that Hitler "waged a war of aggression against the peace-loving Soviet Union". The recent documents, released by President Putin, are so sound that Michael Ploetz from the "Berliner Morgenpost" dared for the first time in the history of post-war Germany to denounce the claims of a Jewish historian regarding Adolf Hitler as false: "It shows that Gorodetsky's interpretation is completely unfounded. ... Doubts regarding the author's serious scientific intentions are more than justified." Moreover, the review of Gorodetsky's book is turned into a revisionist counter attack and concludes that, "contrary to Gorodetsky's suggestions, Hitler wasn't the genius of evil as portrayed at all times by all sides!" These statements, coming from a German journalist in a main-stream German newspaper was until recently inconceivable and marks the beginning of a new era. Please read the sensational revisionist passages of the Berliner Morgenpost, meant to be a review of Gorodetsky's anti-Hitler book: [START] The former officer of the Soviet Military Intelligence service, Viktor Suvorov alias Vladimir Resunvo, who fled to Great Britain in 1978, supported the thesis that Stalin's long term foreign policy-plan aimed to unleash a war between the major capitalist powers in order to overrun war-tired Europe. Based on circumstantial evidence Suvo-rov also proved that the Red Army concentrated its striking power in 1941 at its western borders - not for the purpose of defence but to attack. ... Suvorov's thesis are widely supported in Russia today. ... In the nineties of last century Red Army deployment plans of 1940/41 were found in Russian archives. These plans reveal that the Chief of Staff of the Soviet Army had worked out a strategy of a war of aggression against Germany. In 1995, V. Neveshin, a historian from the Academy of Science, was able to prove with new archive material that the Soviet cultural elite had propagandistically prepared a war of aggression against Germany since the spring of 1941. Even the most controversial question, whether Stalin revealed his plans of a war of aggression against Germany on May 5, 1941 before the graduates of the Soviet Military Academy can, since the second half of the nineties of last century, conclusively be answered as "YES". The revision of established history is not restricted alone to Stalin's tricks immediately before the German attack on the Soviet Union. Boris Sokolov, also from the Academy of Science, suspects that Stalin already prepared an attack on allied Germany in the west in the spring of 1940. The German "Blitz" over France forced Stalin to postpone his plans. Sokolov refers to an operational plan of the Soviet navy of February 1940 in which Germany and its allies were named as the only possible enemies. Sokolov sees in the mass execution of Polish officers, which took place early May 1940 at Katyn, another piece of circumstantial evidence that proves Stalin's war plans. The liquidation of Poland's military elite was the prerequisite for the creation of a liberation army, lead by communists. The recruitment of Polish POW's, who were ready to fight the Germans independently from their Polish exile government, had indeed become a reality by October 1940. ... On the 7th of September 1939 Dimitroff noted the following statement of Stalin: "The war is waged between two groups of capitalist states. We don't mind that that they weaken themselves by smashing each other. It would not be bad if Germany could rock the richest capitalist countries (especially England). Our non-aggression pact with Germany helps that purpose in a way. The next step will be to spur the other side. Communists in the capitalist countries must resolutely oppose their governments, they must appear as staunch anti-war protesters. The unified front from yesterday was meant to ease the situation of the slaves in capitalist regimes. Under the terms of the imperialistic war it has become the question of destroying slavery." And on the 25th of October 1939 Stalin explained the essentials of communist propaganda: "1. Not to dash forward. Not all slogans at one time. We must lead the masses slowly up to our revolutionary slogans. 2. For the time being it is most important that we use negative slogans. Down with the imperialistic war! To link the question of peace with the destruction of the capital means, helping Chamberlain and the arsonists of war. It means to isolate ourselves from the masses!" ... Contrary to Gorodetsky's suggestions, the new Russian scientific findings do not morally exonerate Germany but show that Hitler wasn't the genius of evil as portrayed at all times by all sides!"
