Good Morning from the Zundelsite:
LATE BREAKING NEWS:
A copy cat?
Ten people have been killed in a Greyhound bus crash in central Tennessee
after the vehicle's driver had his throat slashed by a passenger. (...)
There are many conflicting reports, but it seems that the assault was
committed by a man who "... spoke with a foreign accent and is said to have
been carrying a Croatian passport." Some news services report that the
assault weapon was a "box cutter". The official government position is
that the attack was not "terrorist related."

According to today's Ha'aretz, titled "Belgium says Sharon hearing can
proceed":
A Belgian prosecutor has rejected Israeli arguments that his government
does not have any legal authority to charge Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He
said the investigation against Sharon, on war crime charges, would be
resumed. The statement was made in advance of hearings today at a Brussels
court of appeals on whether there are legal grounds for charging Sharon
with the massacre of Palestinians at Sabra and Chatila. (Reuters)

Most of us may not have known this, but "ornaments with religious themes"
had been banned in the Capitol rotunda but will be allowed again.
We quote from the Madison Sentinel, dated October 1, 2001::
"Ornaments with a religious theme might be allowed on the state Capitol
holiday tree for the first time in more than a decade, a top state official
said. (...)
(G)uidelines were based on an informal policy that has been in place since
at least the mid-1980s, after a lawsuit was filed to stop the display of
the tree on the grounds that it violated the separation of church and
state. ... State officials and workers also have been careful to call the
tree a "holiday tree," not a "Christmas tree."

Rather big news:
The New York Daily News reports that President Bush "Calls for Palestinian
State".
A telling first paragraph:
"Israel was blindsided yesterday by a very public call from President Bush
for a Palestinian state - an endorsement praised by Yasser Arafat's aides.

Today's Guardian tells us here in America what our own media tries to suppre=
ss:
"Patriots attack media amid cries of treason
"Just as the war-or-no-war debate has been conducted over the internet in
ways perhaps not always reflected in the mainstream media, so, too, is the
debate over patriotism and what it now means.
Comedian Bill Maher, working out of LA, has made a politically incorrect
statement on the air: "We have been cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from
2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the
building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly."
Dan Patrick, a talk show host in Houston, Texas, marshalled sponsors
against Maher, FedEx and Sears, who pulled their ads. However, former
Republican Arianna Huffington, at ariannaonline.com, came to his aid. She
claims she has now received more than 10,000 emails in Maher's support,
with only a few hundreds wanting him sacked.
Also, the article mentions that students of some 150 campuses took part in
anti-war protests last weekend.

A Middle East news service, called IAP News, (IAP =3D Islamic Associiation
for Palestine) today reported a rather telling exchange:
"An acrimonious argument erupted during the Israeli cabinet weekly session
last week between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his foreign
Minister Shimon Peres during which Sharon reportedly yelled at Peres,
saying "don't worry about American pressure, we control America."

=46urther from Ha'aretz Service:
"Leftist lawmaker Zehava Gal-On, saying that the terrorist attack on Alei
Sinai settlement in Gaza underscored the impossibility of defending Jewish
enclaves in Gaza, Wednesday declared that Israel should unilaterally pull
out of the Gaza Strip."
She is quoted as saying:
"With respect to Gaza I have no doubt that ... we have nothing to seek
there. This is the moment that sweet illusions are bursting like bubbles.
=2E..We must look the public honestly in the eye and say that we - with all
our military might, and we are big and strong - can't provide a security
answer for the people who live there."
