That's coming.
Several states are crying because they're loosing gasoline-tax revenue because people are switching to hybrids and more fuel efficient cars. They intend to tax you by the miles you drive, time of day, route you take, so you will be a rolling surveillance device any time you're on the road. How much trouble do you think it will be to add audio bugging, for real-time police-state surveillance?

Thanks - that was my obvious guess. I suppose next will be always-on GPS like US cell-phones. 2007?
