U.S. changes a spy story
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
OTTAWA (Jan 15, 2007)
It seems there's no danger of your spare change spying on you after all.
A U.S. government defence agency has suddenly retracted its claim
that Canadian coins containing tiny transmitters were planted on
three American contractors who visited Canada.
The Defense Security Service now says the coin claims, based on a
report provided to the agency, "were found later to be
unsubstantiated ..." and should not have been included in a summary
released to the public.
Intelligence experts surmised the miniature transmitters in the
supposedly rigged coins might be used to track the movements of
defence industry personnel, to help determine whom they were meeting.

We perform bug sweeps like it's a contact sport; we don't play fair, we
take no prisoners, and we give no quarter. Our goal is to stop the spy.
