PS "...check with Kathy O'Brien (who owns bomber)" should have read "who
owned bomber" Bomber passed away in 2002, but his spirit lives on through
the many fine dogs he has produced!

        See http://www.malinois.com/otvitosha/ Ivan Balabanov's site.
Incredible dogs. At Lackland the Air Force started a breeding program to
produce their own Mal's a few years back, led by Dr. Stewart Hilliard, which
started with a litter from Amok ot Vitosha (Jeckyl) and Brawny Bombadier ot
Vitosha (Bomber) as well as a litter of Mals are from Northrhine-Westfalia's
program.

On the west cost you can also check with Kathy O'Brien (who owns
bomber) (http://www.freedo.com/obreons/bomber_titles.htm) to see what she
has available...

        See http://www.majestyenterprises.com/k-9.htm George was Kennel
Master at Fort Benning during the Vietnam era. Ivan Balabanov and Karen
Duet co-authored Advanced Schutzhund, a great book. George also wrote a
great book "The Business Security K-9" both of which I highly recommend.

        See http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KNPVAmerica/ for KNPV info.

        See also Guy Powell's site
http://www.sevenpineskennel.com/our_facility_&_us.htm - he was a Vietnam dog
handler assigned to SOG also.

Have a look at http://www.uspcak9.com/html/home.shtml (United States
Police Canine Assoc.).

And also try http://www.tarheelcanine.com/ also, some good dogs.

By the way, KNPV dogs are held to a *much* higher standard that
Schutzhund dogs during trial. For example, the decoy (person that takes the
bite) will give the dog an 'out' (let go) command - if your dog lets go of
the bad guy then you are rightfully penalized. In Schutzhund, this type of
trickery from the decoy is strictly forbidden. Schutzhund is more of a
'show' and KNPV is more of a 'go' - this is not to say Schutzhund dogs are
inadequate, because I have seen plenty of Schutzhund dogs that would not be
so easily fooled, simply just that there are less rigorous requirements to a
Schutzhund title!

That should get you started, good luck!

Jeff

hi2all

This mail only make sense to people who deal with security dogs, specially
police forces.
I saw yesterday on CNN or SKY News, some news related to a trial where there

was some police special forces with what seems to be malinois dogs.

First question is if in US malinois are used, and the other is what
standards/certifications are used, that can be compared with (I hope some of

you know this ...) the KPNV PH1 (dutch police) or "Schutzhund" (german
police), and where can I find info about those US standards.

Answers can be off the list. Thanks
FM
